The worst for me would most likely be 1.9, As the changes it made I did not like too much (I hate the combat update.) It felt a bit too different to me, My favorite? Probably 1.7.2 back in 2013, It was always a nostalgic and memorable update for me and I still play it most today.

Hey! I'm interested. But you need to post those numbers after your name or nobody can add you.
Add the whole thing, Example: Text#39423949
You have to include the hashtag and number after your name for anyone to add you

I've tried common fixes, Including downloading the legacy launcher and stuff like that but I still can't get it to work, any tips?

Minecraft has been the same way for years, Even though I could see Microsoft pulling off something like this I really don't enjoy the idea of it..
Enchanting is simple enough, And removing it and adding more things to make it more complicated seem pointless, Since we're already so used to just having a enchanting table anyway. And besides, this seems something a mod pack would add, Not a vanilla update.
Half of this stuff you put in seems useless anyway, And why totally remove enchanting?

Not exactly- If you are referring to only 1.12, Then yes. Alot of things have changed over the years. I could see his computer totally dying from playing 1.12, Like ever.
1.7.10, (Maybe 1.8?) Will lag a bit less but still will.

You can contact me at my temporary email, [email protected]
And if I was to look for a certain skin anything really. I'm just sick and tired of these modern over-detailed skins

I would assume just vanilla with maybe some skins and resource packs. If he wants to mod it out, I would assume he can save up and buy a better one. this is just a last minute gift Idea. I minecraft, but on console and the pc world is foreign to me as it gets.
RAM is upgradeable in a laptop i would assume? if so ill just have some installed, if not he will deal with the lag. Ill tell him to forgo the iron titan and he should be good
It depends where the Laptop was bought, If you could link me. Most modern laptops have replaceable parts but the older ones don't.
If so you would need to take out your current Memory stick (RAM) And replace it with 8GB. I'm not too familiar with how that works on laptops since I mostly fix up Towers but I gather that's how you would do it
He could also just play earlier versions of the game like 1.7.10 If 1.12 is too laggy for him

SMP base I share
Two of us built this, with absolutely no planning, throwing buildings down anywhere they'd fit. Nothing matches, it's an absolute clusterf-k and I love it 10/10 would recommend. The little turret tower left of the flag is our enchanting room and the airship has a netherwart plot + brewing stands and storage. Nether portal and link to nether hub are in the big tower on the right, most visitors arrive in there unless they're being all fancy and using elytra overland. Offscreen we've got a semi-auto ice farm, a cow cooker which currently may or not work (first version burned down... not my fault, he built it out of wood!), a dungeon spawner zombie grinder and a villager breeder styled after a giant red mushroom. This pic was taken before I built my personal house, which is a giant snowman wearing a coal top hat and would be visible in the distance behind the airship. I did say nothing matches
My starter base on the same server.
Nice little place. I've got the basic manual farms, enchanting table in the windmill, autofisher just out of sight behind the right hand house etc. Most of the stuff has been looted for our main base now but I still swing by occasionally. Also there's a random Portuguese caravel parked in the ocean just to the right, it's not particularly relevant to the base but it's my current avatar image.
Modded 1.10 base
The whale is item storage, large building in the center is a stables, on the right the enchanting tower, far right in the distance an artificial village, and the weird glass thing at the top is crop farms. I also have some dungeon mob grinders around the place. There's a grass-roofed building on the left near the beacon, that's an auto sugarcane farm.
Oldest world's base (vanilla)
Yeah this looks a bit crap doesn't it? LOL. I took the elytra out to try and get an aerial shot but there's just not much to see from the surface. It's an oldschool cave base and most of the good stuff is invisible underground. The giant tower of doom serves no purpose. There's a semi-auto carrot/potato terrace at the back, a barn for mounts and an auto pumpkin/melon farm on the right. At the back a bridge leading into the cliff is the entrance to the new item storage and map room. The big hole in the ground on the far left is my artificial village (made back when I knew very little about villager mechanics) and the little obsidian and glass thing is an auto fish farm. Entrance to the cave base is at the bottom of the image.
I've got some posts about the base/world and other screenshots including interiors here if you want to see
Great stuff, actually. Probably more decent than I could do.
Gave me a alot of inspiration!

Yeah but like he explained it?
If you could try to stay in the same spot and record it and try to get the sound to play again we can explain it better, Most likely Ambience like Augite said. That means there is usually a deep cave below you I think? Spooked me when they added it back in the day and the first Time I heard it

You could just try taking your time to apply them to your character in-game and take screenshots of each skin.
