Last April, right after I bought Minecraft and had just established myself a nice 3-story WOOD house with a wheat garden in the 3rd floor...
Accidentally punched a wolf with dirt right outside the house and decided that if I died, it would forget it was mad. Nope. A couple more death cycles and I finally defeated the evil puppy.
I decided to celebrate my victory by building and lighting a fireplace....
I like putting birch planks with spruce planks for patterns. Spruce logs make wonderful borders and good roofing material. Moss stone makes great edging for floors, and wool in cool (palette-wise) colors makes a great carpet. I love how cyan and white checker patterns look for floors.
I make a lot of wood houses, actually. Especially now that wood colors are varied.
... Why the hell should grass or mycelium blocks be removable by hand? That's stupid. It's a grass block. Meaning dirt with grass on it. A variation of a dirt block. Mycelium? Fungus-covered dirt.
Why the hell should you get a glass pane back? Because it could be retrieved by way of bug when it was implemented? And now you "miss the old Minecraft" when it was a BUG in a PRERELEASE?
To be honest all these "This is idiotic" threads sound like whining 5-year-olds who think not being able to have candy before dinner is idiotic.
Silk touch gives you a reason to go kill monsters. I mean, you could in theory just camp out in your house all night and avoid monsters like the plague. You could just go on Creative and have infinite Mycelium, Grass, Glass Panes, Bookshelves and other crap you want to just have on a silver platter.
Yes, it is stupid to pick up ores. So? Maybe someone wants to make a trap with it. Maybe someone wants to decorate with redstone ore for some weird reason. Should you be able to pick up ores normally? Hell no. Why would you want to do that by hand?
Also. Yeah, if you call something idiotic and are generally not making a debate, people are going to call you out. A thread like "I see these problems with Silk Touch..." would be a hell of a lot less inflamatory.
Or no, maybe we should take things out just because someone doesn't want to work for everything. Why don't we just remove every freaking survival or hardcore thing from the game because you probably want everything available in creative to be available in survival. :|
Now the question is:
"Now that we have the egg, what the hell is it going to be used for?"
xD
I know that you mentioned the cauldrons, but I was under the impressions that cauldrons equaled a way to store enough water for 3 potions. Which was actually pretty dumb, and thus if I go on multiplayer and make potions, I make a well in the house with a water source block.'
Perhaps it has to be put in lava?
Or it's decoration. It kind of is for now. Pillars in front of castles would look boss with eggs on top.
It's not about Creepers either, though.
I suppose the point of it so far is "Hey, you just woke up in this random place. Explore. Mine. Hey, build a hell portal. Locate the stronghold. Go to the End. Defeat the Dragon. Become master of the universe!!! Or you could have a nomadic lifestyle, or maybe a simple farming one. Or just build for the hell of it."
I guess yeah, there's kind of a story line now, but who's to say you can't make your own of building lots of random landmarks? And after you've finished the End, get some silk touch picks and mine Endstone. I find that stuff pretty, so if I could actually get to a Stronghold I'd be adding it to castles.
I just see Endermen as "the other inhabitants" or something. They're like smarter than monsters, somewhat peaceful, and just doing whatever they do. Enderfriends. :3 Until you accidentally look at them. Then they're ticked off and come kill you. Because staring is impolite. xD
Wanna know why the Minecraft Community is never going to be happy?
Because a lot of people on the 1.9 discussion seem like whiny, spoiled brats.
Whiny spoiled brats who just want something to complain about. "Wahh, Daddy won't buy me an iPhone 4 and Notch won't give me *insert a bazillion things here*!!!!!"
Yeah.
So pretty much check before you make a list.
And don't bold something on a list that's never going to happen unless Notch makes an emotion control chip for you to wear.
Edit:
Things could be done, yeah.
But wasn't Minecraft supposed to be something that wasn't going to have progress stopped even after the full release?
1. If a person is unhappy with a product they paid for they should have every right to voice an opinion.
2. Labeling people as whiners, kind of makes you sound like a whiner. The difference however, is at least those who are unhappy with the update and voicing their concerns, these people are at least relevant to the topic and forum. Whining about people whining in general would better fit an emo board than a game forum.
1. When you pre-purchase Minecraft, you are made aware of the fact that you are buying a Beta game and that it's not the full version, you get what you paid for. Which, if you purchased before the full version, is an unfinished game.
Why people are complaining when this was clearly stated is futile. If you didn't read when you bought, that's your own fault.
2. I'm sick of people complaining about the update being annoying and incomplete when I'd gladly trade crashing upon world load for all the crap they're whining about.
