Depending on what needs to be done, I can be of service for as long as my client can connect. I've been practicing architecture lately. I can get examples if you'd like them.
The only reason I don't like it is when I'm tired of digging underground on my somewhat decently lit private island thing and a zombie or skeleton from the other side of the island walks over to my house.
The reason I go up to my loft bedroom in this SECURE HOUSE after digging for ages is because I don't want to dig anymore. I don't want to go outside and eradicate monsters, I want to go to bed and let the sun have them in the morning. I'll dodge creepers, no big deal.
But now, I either have to go craft stuff I could craft later or GO DIG MORE. Dx
Though the mountain house having that message freaked me out because I didn't know there was a cave on the other side of my bedroom wall...
Long story short, it either helps or annoys. It is very dependent on the situation.
... Why the hell should grass or mycelium blocks be removable by hand? That's stupid. It's a grass block. Meaning dirt with grass on it. A variation of a dirt block. Mycelium? Fungus-covered dirt.
Why the hell should you get a glass pane back? Because it could be retrieved by way of bug when it was implemented? And now you "miss the old Minecraft" when it was a BUG in a PRERELEASE?
To be honest all these "This is idiotic" threads sound like whining 5-year-olds who think not being able to have candy before dinner is idiotic.
Silk touch gives you a reason to go kill monsters. I mean, you could in theory just camp out in your house all night and avoid monsters like the plague. You could just go on Creative and have infinite Mycelium, Grass, Glass Panes, Bookshelves and other crap you want to just have on a silver platter.
Yes, it is stupid to pick up ores. So? Maybe someone wants to make a trap with it. Maybe someone wants to decorate with redstone ore for some weird reason. Should you be able to pick up ores normally? Hell no. Why would you want to do that by hand?
Also. Yeah, if you call something idiotic and are generally not making a debate, people are going to call you out. A thread like "I see these problems with Silk Touch..." would be a hell of a lot less inflamatory.
Or no, maybe we should take things out just because someone doesn't want to work for everything. Why don't we just remove every freaking survival or hardcore thing from the game because you probably want everything available in creative to be available in survival. :|
Now the question is:
"Now that we have the egg, what the hell is it going to be used for?"
xD
I know that you mentioned the cauldrons, but I was under the impressions that cauldrons equaled a way to store enough water for 3 potions. Which was actually pretty dumb, and thus if I go on multiplayer and make potions, I make a well in the house with a water source block.'
Perhaps it has to be put in lava?
Or it's decoration. It kind of is for now. Pillars in front of castles would look boss with eggs on top.
It's not about Creepers either, though.
I suppose the point of it so far is "Hey, you just woke up in this random place. Explore. Mine. Hey, build a hell portal. Locate the stronghold. Go to the End. Defeat the Dragon. Become master of the universe!!! Or you could have a nomadic lifestyle, or maybe a simple farming one. Or just build for the hell of it."
I guess yeah, there's kind of a story line now, but who's to say you can't make your own of building lots of random landmarks? And after you've finished the End, get some silk touch picks and mine Endstone. I find that stuff pretty, so if I could actually get to a Stronghold I'd be adding it to castles.
I just see Endermen as "the other inhabitants" or something. They're like smarter than monsters, somewhat peaceful, and just doing whatever they do. Enderfriends. :3 Until you accidentally look at them. Then they're ticked off and come kill you. Because staring is impolite. xD
Wanna know why the Minecraft Community is never going to be happy?
Because a lot of people on the 1.9 discussion seem like whiny, spoiled brats.
Whiny spoiled brats who just want something to complain about. "Wahh, Daddy won't buy me an iPhone 4 and Notch won't give me *insert a bazillion things here*!!!!!"
Yeah.
So pretty much check before you make a list.
And don't bold something on a list that's never going to happen unless Notch makes an emotion control chip for you to wear.
Edit:
Things could be done, yeah.
But wasn't Minecraft supposed to be something that wasn't going to have progress stopped even after the full release?
Actually, I've noticed this too. How I found this was as follows:
I created a Creative world on 1.9 pre5.
I used a seed that previously gave me 2 strongholds when I used 1.9 pre4.
I threw an Eye of Ender to pinpoint the exact location of the stronghold.
The Eye of Ender landed where a stronghold should have been.
I excavated the area down to bedrock and got nothing.
I tried this a few more times.
I still got nothing.
It does take a LOT of work to make a grinder with decent efficiency. Cacti destroy items, drowning pools get items stuck, it's not a super-easy cheat thing, it does take work to design them and make sure they work properly.
However, I do agree that XP orbs should NOT come from mob grinders.
I mean, even if you do find a dungeon with a spawner, you'd have to create a way to get the dropped items out. What if the dungeon's really far underground? Eh, oh well, I kill spawners in dungeons.
But er, some people aren't in the mood to go hack at spiders and creepers to get drops if there's a bunch of other monsters in a swarm. Creeper swarm? DOOMED.
So er. Yeah, would that mean monsters can't drop things from dying in sunlight? Would that mean that a pig burned to death can't drop any cooked porkchops? (well, there goes fast cooked food...)
I think that changing some coding that goes into efficiency somehow would be better. Like forcing grinder builders to use cacti, since cacti can destroy some of the drops. That way it's totally inefficient to make a huge mob grinder underground and a small surface one would be better.
Personally, if the only automated things you can make are crop farms, you're going to have an imbalance. Especially because a giant load of cacti is nearly useless in a normal survival world. No matter how fun it is to design for efficiency.
Edit: And uh, what about mods that add item spawning? Go yell at people who use those to give themselves, say, 64 string instantly instead of mob grinder designers who'll get maybe half that string in a whole night.
In other words...
WAHHH I am never pleased with anything!!!!
You sound like a little daddy's girl who gets anything and everything she begs for on a silver platter.
For chrissakes, people, if it's too hard, get better at the game. It's not impossible.
I've only seen ONE Enderman in a world EVER. So chill.
They should be a little harder to defeat, actually.
However, I've only ever run into ONE ever. There should be a biome where more of them spawn, thus making it nearly impossible to get through there without looking at one.
And that's just your world, because I had a whole freaking cave full of sheep. :/ I even found 4 PINK sheep. They just... aren't in the swamplands when I need them.
Now cows, I have barely any cows. Where are the cows?
Because if your character doesn't belong to a strict race of mole people that cannot possibly have exposure to sunlight, you can get food. It's not that hard. Kill a chicken. Kill a cow. Kill a pig. Farm.
There might as well be a button to turn off hunger then, and Notch can call it the "I belong to a race of mole people and would rather eat dirt" button.

Yes, adding a bazillion weapons would make it like WoW.
But people also need to shut the hell up.
