Nothing, because I'm not a fanboi stuck on Notches jock, nor do I pretend to know how to run a game development company on the other side of the planet.
I don't understand this type of garbage. How can you pretend to think you'll know what happens w/ quality and service w/out Notch being 'main'? Have you ever met Jeb or Notch? Do you know their personalities so much that you can forsee how things will change at Mojang?
Do you think you'll get some sort of special shout-out from Notch by asking insipid questions like this?
IM LOOKING FOR A SURVIVAL SERVER WITH: PVP ENABLED, NO FACTIONS, /SETHOME AND /SPAWN COMMANDS AT THE LEAST, CHEST PROTECTION IS ON, NO ADMIN POWER ABUSERS. ANYONE KNOW OF A GOOD SERVER?
check my signature below.. fits to a tee (minus chest protection)
How it works:
Combat tag makes it impossible to pvp log!
When a player is struck by another player, combat tag logs it in its log.
If one of the players logs off within 10 seconds (time can be changed) of being struck, combat tag comes to play.
Combat tag makes it so that if the player logs off within the ten second field, he spawns an NPC with the same inventory/health as him.
The player that was attacking then can attack the NPC, and the same is done to the logged off player.
If the player kills the NPC, the player that logged off in combat is also killed, and drops everything in their inventory.
If the player causes damage to the NPC, the player that is logged off also takes the damage (including armor).
OP: as a parent, IT professional, and after reading 8bitben's words about Hamachi...I would throw your computer down a flight of stairs if you were my kid and i caught you running it.
It is the ONE person who knows what they are doing that can REALLY screw you over. My dad is an IT guy, while he doesn't do too much security IT, I know that in a few lines of code your server can be hacked and your real IP can be found. While using a fake IP can be a good security measure, if a person has any idea on how to use some basic command line, and use that information to suit their purposes, havoc can be had on your system.
At one point my dad worked for Toyata in their IP department. Every fall, there is a convention called the Black Hat convention. Basically, these people try to see how fast they can mess stuff up :-). You really don't know who you are dealing with when you are out there in cyberspace, so it is best to take precautions.
Without looking at any hamachi documentation (yet), I can only assume since it squats prohibited IP ranges, it likely doesn't follow other TCP/IP best-practices, so I'll further assume if someone can malform a few packets, they can set themselves up on the private network hamachi pretty-much tunnels people into (i.e. YOURS) and the rest is history.
oh theres people a bit past that haha. farthest home im seeing so far is 15000 out, and hes a regular so its cool. rest are slightly under 10000 so I figured 20000 would be a good limit.
They shouldn't, but that can make for a very large map? How much space do you have on your RAMdisk?
5GB
I'm thinking of scripting a nightly server reset (and possible full plugin update since its only 3 plugins) so anyone who loads a huge map...that should fix it right (the reset)? Chunkfiles def only load when someones in them (unless i missed something completely) last i knew.
So someone informed me that players were on my server, trying to lag it by exploring really far out to grow the map. It sounds like an idiotic tactic, but whatever.
How worried should I be about this?
What can I do about it?
Thanks!
PS the server isn't lagging because of it, so *shrug*
I SUPPOSE what you could do is log in, let it be dark, hit ESC so it will try and save, then go into the world folder and sort the files by modify date. At least that way it should, in theory, update that one chunk file and since it will have the latest date...remove that file and see what happens.
Store these files in a separate folde ron your desktop, so you can put them back easy if you need to.

I thought it would be good to set up a border around the world. Since I fail at math, I made it too small and chopped off access to people's homes.
SORRY
Its been fixed.

Do those go bonkers when you set borders ~20000 blocks from spawn?
