posted a message on [1.9] Ender Pearls - The REAL Use
I think that most of us (but not all) can agree that enderpearls should be used for some sort of teleportation, since this is what makes the endermen a unique mob. The question is, how can teleportation be implemented into MC without being over-powered or discouraging the use of other items/forms of transportation.

With that said, I propose that enderpearls be used to make arrows that teleport the player where ever it lands. First, the recipe should require one arrow and one enderpearl. To prevent this from being overpowered, I think the arrows should be weighted more heavily than normal arrows, having the maximum distance be maybe half of a fully charged normal arrow. This would be preferable to having and enderpearl teleport you to where you click because it requires some actual skill which could prove life-saving in a tricky situation. This also means that if you screw up and aim poorly or wildly, you may end up in a a pool of lava or the bottom of an ocean. This would help balance the game more than some of the other proposals.

As previously brought up, the use of enderpearls should not discourage exploration or the use of other modes of transportation. The requirement of only being able to travel so far (the range of the arrow) would force exploration unlike some other solutions. You would just be able to travel faster in some cases. Minecarts would still be valuable, as they allow you to travel without any thought or resources once set up. The limited availability of the arrows and the need to constantly aim and fire would deter their use for long distance travel.

Obviously some tweaks might have to be made to further balance the game (maybe require a different bow crafted with more rare materials?) but I think this concept provides a great use for enderpearls that would introduce an incredibly fun game mechanic.

posted a message on YET another potential use por the ender pearls
So I rarely ever post on MC Forums and mainly just read it all the time, but I thought that this idea definitely deserved some attention. I think that this idea would be excellent for many reasons, most of them addressed by the OP. I think one of the most important reasons this is a great idea is that it just makes sense. Given the abilities of the the endermen, it follows that an item like the enderpearl would involve teleportation. Furthermore, it would just be an incredibly fun game mechanic to utilize.

I think there are also two things that need to be considered still. First, how would players choose which arrow to use? I recall a while back using Risugami's arrows mod (not sure if it has changed since then), and the main issue I faced was not being able to select the arrow I wanted to use in any way that was convenient. I think an easy solution would be for the player to select the arrow instead of the bow when firing, obviously still requiring a bow in the inventory somewhere. Second, pending updates, Endermen might become less common (since they seemed overly common for a "rare" mob in the prerelease) and if that's the case, I don't think it would be too overpowered if the number of crafted arrows was the traditional 4, or maybe even just 2. For such a fun game mechanic, it would be sad to feel very limited using it.

posted a message on TNT cannons
Yes, it seems that activated TNT does not flow in water anymore. However, with a tiny bit of rewiring, the problem can be easily solved. The solution is to use a single TNT that detonates a second or two before the rest to push them near the TNT that is the projectile. This can be done by running a redstone wire to the TNT farthest from the projectile. This wire can be connected to the trigger, just like the wire that activates the rest of the TNT. The key is to use a repeater or two to act as a delay so that the single TNT detonates first, pushing the rest near the projectile. Those then detonate a second or so after, launching the ammo nearly as far as when water was used to push them. Here's a diagram:

[] [] :stone: :tnt: :stone: - the TNT in this row is one higher than the rest and is the projectile.
