For such a successful game, the updates are extremely slow in coming. The list of new features is rather small for the time allotment, and the lack of a modding API is disappointing. Overall, still a good game. Just wish Jeb had some help.
Just my two cents, take it as you will.
I think the reason for the slow updates is that other than completely new players buying the game (which, technically, is considered a finished game)they are not making any money on updating it. All players get the updates for free, so they don't have as much encouragement to work on it. Also, this update had a HUGE change in the game's code, with many new, cool things. Frankly, I think it's great they're still working on it at all. -

Also for all you complaining 1.3 isnt out:
Jeb is going to release 1.3 as soon as he can. There is probably only going to be a pre release now, no more snapshots. (Its been 12 weeks since 15a >.>) Jeb said its basically done except for performance issues, which he fixed most of in 26a and is still fixing some. He also said the bugs that are still here will determine the fate of 1.3. In other words those bugs (minor) will probably have to be left there in 1.3...
So yeah im hoping this thursday will be the pre release then friday will be the real release. If not it will be next week. Please dont complain and let 1.3 be bug free!
I agree that people should stop complaining, but I don't agree with you on how soon you think it will come out. The LAN game system seems to be done, I just tried it with a friend, it worked really well, however, there has not yet been a snapshot with the modding API in it, and I am almost 100% sure that has been confirmed for 1.3. Unless Jeb is trying to give us a nice surprise with a well done modding API that was not tested in a snapshot, I think it could still be a while until the update. -

Two things:
1. Sorry, I actually sort of got ninja'd by you (we posted at roughly the same time)
2. Good suggestion, but you need an account to vote or suggest. With a poll, everyone can join in. -
Jun 26, 2012jtank4 posted a message on Minecraft API Discussion - Sat, 20:00 CEST, #minecraftdev on EsperI would like to repeat Bmandk's suggestion as it is good, yet seems to have been ignored: he suggests that a completely public poll be put up at the top of the discussion (or somewhere else where it will be noticed). I suggest that items developers suggest in the discussion be added to it as the discussion is going. This seems like a good, entirely feasible and easy way of getting in everyone's opinion.Posted in: News

I quickly spin around when something, or someone, bumps into me from behind. A second later a voice commands me to show myself, emanating from nowhere. The voice seems familiar, but I can't put my finger on it. I realize that had it actually been one of the witch's minions, I would have been infected. Also, I figure a bandit would have little to gain here, as well as the fact that few bandits are able to use magic. I halt the spell that was bending light around me.

((I am looking forward to finding out your undoubtedly devious plan, Bobert.))
As I weasel past an infected in an alley, I find myself in the main plaza, behind the large tower. I consider climbing up the tower to the throne room, but the windows are closed and there is likely to be tighter security up there. Instead, I just checked for anyone by the door, and slowly opened it once I was sure no one was there to notice it. I slipped inside and began carefully treading up the stone staircase. Good thing too, a wooden staircase would likely creak.

((We were at opposite ends of Dras-Leona. Concor had climbed up the wall on the south side and Arinola had climbed up the wall on the north side. My character did jump down though, and started heading towards the tower in the center of the city. Because of this (the tower being in the center, so both characters would arrive at roughly the same time) it would be quite possible for Concor and Arinola to either a. bump into each other or b. one to notice the other opening the door to the tower.))

((That was a very good post Snivy, but Celobra isn't in a Desert at the moment. That's fine though, maybe it could be a small tribe of people or something. You're a creative guy, you'll come up with something. I personally haven't posted because Concor is traveling and more time must elapse before he can arrive at Dras-Leona, preferably at the same time as you guys (i.e. Celobra, Nathaniel, Arinola, and Fraener).))

We are currently working on some new features, as well as fixing textures, before we update. You could check if the current version works with 1.5.2, if you have not already, as sometimes mods will not break between minor updates.

((Snivy, I'm sorry if we seem like huge downers, but I'm fairly sure we can all agree that while the thing with the bacteria is interesting, neither of these ideas really belong in an Eragon roleplay. It's fine, good even, to come up with creative ideas and plots to make the roleplay more interesting, but the key to a good idea is that it seems like it would fit into the Eragon books. Other than your particularly creative ideas, I think there's only one thing that could be improved with your posts: they tend to be a little fragmented. I'll just take your last post, for instance, and try to make it a bit less fragmented:
Original:
I heard a stomping sound-something large was headed my way. The reason I could tell it was my way was because it knocked down a pillar-and stormed through a wall in a turn of bad reflexes. I broke into a full speed run, heading towards a desert. I quickly became exhausted, as I hadn't eaten for several days. excluding a leaf, until I received a spontaneous burst of energy. I felt better, even if I was sweltering, and Raced around a river.
De-fragmented:
I heard a stomping sound-something large that was headed my way. The reason I could tell it was headed my way was because it knocked down a pillar that then fell beside me (here, you didn't actually give a reason you could tell it was heading towards you. Saying that you could hear the wall falling closer to you would also work). I broke into a full speed run, heading towards a desert. I quickly became exhausted, as I hadn't eaten anything other than a leaf for several days. Suddenly, I received a spontaneous burst of energy. I felt better, even if I was sweltering, and raced around a river.))
((Also, good tips Ybj1))

((Yes, I noticed that too. However, the exact wording was that he would never stand in Alagaesia again, so it is technically possible for him to come back, but he would just not stand. I guess he could always be riding Saphira, or maybe he became crippled at some point (O.K., probably the first one). We could always just remove that part though, it's not vital that he came back, we could have just beat those riders without him.))

((Sorry about that, I should have made it clear there were some that were doing a very good job, such as yourself. I think that your posts are better than my own, to be honest, clearly you put a lot of effort into each. The same goes to you Bobert (as well as a few others).))

((Yeah, I must say that the quality (or lack thereof) of posts on the old thread was definitely a main factor in my not posting so much. I was hoping that we would start fresh with this one and have good posts from the beginning, and not stop having good posts. That hasn't exactly happened so far.))

((Arinola (Juliet), Nathaniel (Bob), Celobra (KitKat), and Fraener (Kokolo) are all by Dras-Leona; Maosu and Anunir (Tek and Gales, respectively) are in Ceunon; Tiol (Soren) is also near Dras-Leona; Plasma (Snivy) is by Uru' Baen (I think); and Concor (myself) is just North-East of Melian. Why do I always end up being the geographer for these roleplays?))

((Ah, yes, I believe that Arya was trying to teleport Saphira's egg to Brom, but instead it ended up a bit off course, in The Spine, a few paces away from where Eragon was standing. Although it was not suggested, as far as I remember, that Saphira altered the course of the teleport, I think it's a fairly logical deduction that indeed, that could have happened.))
As I approach the city walls, I pull out two incredibly thin sticks, each enchanted to be able to support my weight. Not exactly a coincidence, that one of the few things I've made since I left my home and workshop would be an altered stick. Normally, I would just fly over the wall, but I think a less conspicuous entrance is in order. I drive one of the sticks into the cracks between the bricks in the wall, drive in the next one a bit higher, and begin the climb. A short while after, I am at the top of the wall. I quickly begin to bend the light around me with a few words, as I would be clearly visible standing on top of the wall. A quick look at the city shows how complete the witch's control over this area is. Bodies wander the streets, sans knowledge, sans goals, sans feeling. Homes lie in disrepair. Towers that were clearly once adorned in great banners, now stand stark, with threads of their banners left trailing in the breeze.
It is clear that what I suspected was true. The witch does not have the power to control all the people she possesses at once. This is good news, yet sad. Clearly, she cannot ever gain control of more land, and by extension people, or it is likely her control over these people will weaken, even break. And yet, I know it is not fair to let these people suffer so the rest can live without fear of domination. Alas, there is nothing I alone can do.
I hop down from the walls, and end the invisibility spell. I begin my journey to Dras-Leona, then throughout the land, back to my home in Ellesmera.

((This was never really explained in the book, they just instinctively know (or perhaps it's a destiny type deal). They were never described as actually being conscious in the egg, Saphira, for instance, Eragon's dragon, simply hatched a few days after Eragon first touched the egg. For roleplay purposes, I think it would be fine to hatch right away though.))
I passed by a guardhouse earlier, which I thought was abandoned. It was not. The guard was there, on the floor, half rotted. He was obviously one of those who did not survive the possession of the witch. This only shows how important my goal was. Of course, I already knew she was dangerous, thinking back to my father, who had been infected shortly after the witch invaded Osilon. I kept running. Shortly after, the city of Melian came rising above the horizon. Almost there.
