posted a message on Minecraft No Longer Officially Working With Oculus Rift
I'm glad to see that Facebook is too poor to buy out Google's glass. I mean, yeah there goes VR for MC, but imagine if Facebook Controlled Google.Adding on to what I've said, a lot of people are jumping on the "VR for Social Networking" bandwagon. I have yet to see any proof that OR will be used for Social media at all. Maybe Facebook just wants to profit more from the gaming industry. I mean, Disney has released p0rn0s, just not under the same name as Disney. They just do it for profit.

posted a message on Has Minecraft "Abandoned" Survival as a Core?
I'd just like to say that this is told from the viewpoint of how I play Minecraft. Me, mine, my. Others may relate to it, whilst other may not. I just want to get community input on what they think of this "situation".

I've always played Minecraft with survival in mind. I plan everything out, preserve resources, try to be as thrifty as possible. But recently, that spark in Minecraft has died. I mean, there isn't much to really survive as of recent. I mean, seriously, when has someone actually struggled to survive past day 10 of Minecraft? Day 5? How bout Night 1? I find that Minecraft has been sadly predictable as of the recent updates.

Sure, there has been stuff that was added to "change things". But, it really didn't change much… "Zombies now can spawn other zombies!" Ok… So there's ONE extra zombie in the fight… "Spiders can have potion effects!" Ok… That does nothing to effect me… "Chicken Jockey!" Cool… A mob that I'll see once every second blue moon of the year… That does nothing special. I mean, there's nothing new! No pizazz! I feel the reason of this is that Minecraft is now leaning towards the builder, more than the survivor.

I mean think about it. "New stone varieties and blocks of slime!" Cool. So a guy trying to survive out in the hordes of the night can make a bounce house for a tomb, with a fancy grave stone. "Over 10 new biomes and over 20 new flowers!" Cool… I can… Make dyes… In a canyon… I mean, it looks like something fun to explore, but in reality, it does nothing to cater to the survivor. It's some fancy facade.

"But the goal of Minecraft is to be creative!" Wrong, the goal of Minecraft is to do what ever you want. I can build a to-scale model of Chernobyl, I can rule over a city of villagers, I can play in worlds made by people across the world. I can even play with nuclear sciences and tesla reactors. And at one point, you could just survive. But survival seems to be the least updated thing in Minecraft, even though it was the core of Minecraft. "Survival Mode" always came first. Surviving was before Creativity, now survival is now an old dream.

Many of you are probably thinking, a few of the following:

"Play with mods!" I should't have to play with mods to enjoy the core of a game.

"Don't like it don't use it!" First off, go back to Suggestions where that means something. Second, I'm not asking for anything to be removed, I'm fine with it, what ever it may be, in game. It's just that the its being added aren't what I'd like to see added.

"Try multiplayer!" I have, and it worked quite well. Until griefing happened. Until server plug-ins happen. Until jerks happen. Until multiplayer has the same boring blah things that happen in single player.

"Try challenges!" I completed a hard-core amplified world achievement run… Which is where you get every achievement in the tree, while in hardcore mode, while in amplified world type. But even with these rules in, I got bored.

So, I've found that "Survival" has become a bit of a taboo. Lord forbid a new mob gets added in-game unless fifty or so blocks are added that do nothing to assist that mob. "Horse Update: AKA Update that has horses and three items related to it, with over 150 new creative rules/items!" I mean, just call it "Creative Update", since horses was barely even a thing mentioned.

To the contrary, 1.4 "Very Scary Update" which added a new boss, new witch mob, new foods for potions, increased silverfish count, added end-game content, an update that generally added more survival to the game is considered "one of the worst updates in Minecraft's history".

"But… 1.8 will be making mobs harder!" Horsefeathers, all it does is make the game "harder" for the freshly spawned. And even then, it's not a difference at all. Minecraft is apparently not a survival game any more, just, and I dare say it, Roblox HD. A game that has become nothing but freshman art class, requiring heavy modding to enjoy for hardcore survivalists.

One rant later, remember before giving any feedback, that this is MY opinion. I've been playing Minecraft since before wolves, so I know what survival in Minecraft is, er… Was. So, my questions to you all be:

Has the core of Minecraft shifted away from what you originally thought it was?

Is the shift good in your opinion?

Do you like the change in direction Minecraft is going?

posted a message on The Minecraft Community is a Monster
Admin/mod note: Don't just lock right away, let this grape ferment a bit, then we can taste the wine from there.

For those of you who know me, I usually start all of my topics with a cute little story related to the topic. Well, there is nothing cute about this. Simply put, the MC Community has become a monster.

The community is an abusive monster. It treats Mojang like it's an object, a group of slaves, not people. Treats it like Mojang's job is please the community in every which way possible. Any time Mojang shows a little bit of their own wants in the game, the community breaks M's knees, kick it around, and threaten it to change it back.

For example, the recent iron and gold farm changes. Jeb wanted iron and gold farms to no longer function automatically. So, he implements it, and it works, bug free. Then comes old man community, and explodes onto Jeb how it was a terrible idea, that, and I quote:

    "Prevents player creativity."
"Was horribly put into the game."
    "Is a stupid feature."
"[Mojang] has no idea what they're doing."
    "[Mojang] hates us."
    etc...

So, after an explosion that made Chernobyl look like cherry bomb going off in a kiddie pool on Reddit, Jeb reverted the changes back. But I'm 90% certain it wasn't out of understanding the community's needs, it was out of fear. Mojang is scared by it's own community that it created. Like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

This may or may not appease to you youngsters in the game (1.8 Beta forward), I don't really care, but now about you older gents.
1.7 Beta, ya'll should remember that, Piston Update. Before all the sprinting, dragons, and other shenanigans, its was about the pistons. Was announced in 1.5, but delayed until the big one seven. One thing that really urked the community was that is was not Hippoplatimus' mod, where pistons could launch blocks into the heavens. No, we were given little arms that could push and pull one block. Why I bring this up? Because the community said "Damn. Not what I wanted, but it's your game Mojang, not ours. You decide what to do." I'm not lying, I was there, the forum admins were there, Wiki managers were there, Curse, all the big wigs were there, and no one was angry at Mojang. We were sad, a bit disappointed, but still content that we got something relevant that we wanted: Pistons. I am 110% percent certain that if pistons were not added until now, the Minecraft community would physically injure Mojang staff that they didn't get the original pistons. Because we are monsters.

Nowadays, it's "Oh we didn't get a new ore, but we got 3 new types of stone? Jeb and Dinnerbone should be fired!" What happened to the chivalry? The understanding? Notch would personally come onto the forums and just chat with Forum members for funsies. Now, Mojang devs are hot and bothered over even logging into reddit because they'll be hit with more fire than Vietnam.

A bit off topic from this Great Wall of China Text, but let's talk a bit about Notch now. I think he knew the community would become wolves, and that's a main reason why he stepped down. Think about it: Bosses, Sprinting, less clay, more meat, needing shears, all this was added by Notch, right before he jumped ship. And Jeb took full fiery flames and force, like a champion. But unlike what happened to Notch, where we gave him slack after a week, the fires grew bigger and stronger, burning him more and more. And poof, smoke and ash, Jeb can be compared to the island of Pompeii. Or Hawaii, volcano analogy, doesn't matter.

Last thing that a simply love about this newfoundland community is when they get what they want /sarcasm. Example: Flowers. We had two flowers for the longest time, red, and yellow. They were not given the names rose, or dandelion, they were only known as flowers. Then they were given names, and the community was "Okay, I guess the dyes make sense now…" There wasn't much to do with plants in MC, I mean, I remember when vines became a thing, the community exploded with more cheer than Americans on signing the Declaration of Independence. More plants! Then jungles and swamps, then plant dead-ness. Nothing new, for over a year. Then the flower update came, and again, we were all a happy little Brady Bunch. But the youngest one with curls was not happy, no. Roses became poppies. Changing a flower, a sin so great, it was written on the ten commandments in the Bible. Suddenly, the update became "The dumbest and worst update ever, Minecraft sucks". All intelligent life at that point was just gone. The community now reminds me of a small child for two reasons. The first being is that the community acts quite bratty, unless they get what they wanted 110% to what they asked. Want a red lollipop? Oh, all they has were these slightly dark pink ones, but its the same flavor! Nope, suddenly, the child is crying, throwing items on the shovels onto the floor, breaking things. "I hate you mom! I hate you dad!" I heard echoing through the house. Yep. The second reason being is that I really hate bratty small children, and that if law permit, would attack them. I really wish I could beat some knowledge into some of you forum users.

So after all this text and words and poor analogies, this probably will be for null, as most of the people who will read this will be the stubborn asses mules that they are, and have no word of "Being kinder to Mojang for still working on the game after it was officially released in 1.8". But I'm hoping those people die off due to, I don't know, malaria or something, because they are the reason that this once great nations of Minecraft have fallen. There is then that small circle, which holds tight to the old way of the old days, who will save this community. I guess this story telling/complaining about complainers leads to a few questions:

How has the community changed since you first played MC?

Are you satisfied with this change?

Do you agree with the piston analogy? Why or why not?

If this thread made you change your thoughts on updates and the community, how so and why?

Thank you for reading this, debating this, agreeing with me, disagreeing with me, loving me, hating me, threatening me, assassinating me, etc. I've remained quite for as long as I can muster over how the community's intelligence has seemingly dropped to the point rocks in-game have higher IQ than many forumers. More arguments will be added for ya'll to fight over as more come to mind. If this gets off the ground well, and stays airborne, a little surprise is in store. Once again, thanks.

    Cool quotes I've seen:

    Quote from Akynth

If we're going to be a community, instead of a bunch of greedy, pushing, shoving, bullying brats, that's something we need to think about. It's something we need to really reflect on. And for some of it, it's something we need to change.

even if this were true, that 7 year old needs to realize that not very many people know how to code and program
well enough to make video games, and the fact that mojang has accomplished it for 6 different platforms (Pc,Mac, iOS, android, Playstation, and xbox) is amazing and he/she should be grateful for the amazing game they have

Nothing wrong with iron farms, you can mine iron faster, but the farm is more of a convenience for hard work.
    Same goes with gold farms

Enchanting has become way OP and because of that I see the xp system getting nerfed which makes no sense at all!
What I think is going on is jeb buffed the enchanting system so much, now he has an excuse to nerf the xp system by a whole lot.

    Jeb is ruining minecraft.

I… I can't tell if you're being sarcastic and being supportive or not… I think I need an adult...

Unless they veer drastically off course from ALL previous Snapshots, content wise, it's done.

Oh apologies, we forgot that you have a PhD in Video Game Development Theory, and that you can predict how updates in Minecraft will always turn out. What science are you going by? What math? Do you have proof, or are you just spewing nonsense.
