posted a message on Ironic first night travel by mine cart...
    Quote from needle44 »
Ok so I've spent every second of my minecraft life hiding in my cave during nights. Never going into the room with the door. Never leaving even when the suns about to go down... so... I made myself a huge cart track to get from place to place and my longest track wen't to my favorite base =) So I decide to travel at night because I can't wait. I horde all my ores aboard my diamond tools ETC. I start halfway there A skeleton misses me and it's arrows stops my cart! Then a creeper blows me up!

    Haha, that sucks.

On a side note, time to play gramma nazi. That's coincidence, not irony.

    1. Eyes In The Back - Never forget to check behind you. A split second without checking and SSSSSSSSSS, BAM!

    2. Fire Handler - Carry extra torches. Mining expeditions end pretty quickly without enough torches (or extra sticks to make more).

    3. On The Left - Place your torches on the left side as you traverse a new cave. Then follow them on the right to find your way back!

    4. When In Doubt, Know Your Way Out - If you go in without a plan, always remember which way was your exit. This way, you'll never be cornered.

    5. Carry Extra Underwear - It just takes one creeper and you'll be sitting in your own filth all day.

    6. Beacon of Hope - A tall tower with lots of fire makes a good signal if you are ever lost.

    7. Never Dig Up - You are one block away from lava or water in the face...

8 ) And Then Some - When off on a mining trip take as many pick-axe's as you think you will need and then two more

9 ) Thatta' Way - When you start off a new game always dig an arrow in the ground by the spawn point in the direction you will be heading to help you find your base when a creeper hugs you on night 2

10 ) Is that a bucket in your pocket? - As soon as you have scooped up some lava in a bucket PUT IT AWAY AND TAKE IT OFF YOUR HOTBAR until you plan to use it.

11 ) BOO! - Use a creeper themed multiplayer skin and sneak up on your friends in SMP, just because.

    12) Ooh, Shiny! - ALWAYS mine diamond when you find it. It's too pretty not to!

    13) Not Taking Sides - Always kill peaceful mobs, especially pigs.

    14) Bone To Pick - Never rush skeletons with a sword. They aren't worth fighting anyway.

    15) Light it up, again! - Don't get too attached to your world. Updates happen and you better be ready to relight those torches!

    16) Bump In The Night - Obvious but critical... never go out at night unarmed.

    So far it's looking good!

    13) Check if there is already a list of Minecraft rules in the forums.

Please show me where one exists. I searched for a while for rules, tricks and even references to Zombieland and found nothing related. It's not that I don't believe it's been done, but I'm not willing to read through hundreds of pages of posts with the word "rules" in them.

Most of them are rules lists for the forum. These are like "Rules for Surviving In Minecraft"

I'm thinking it might be kind of fun to compile a list of Minecraft Rules, in the same style and format as those on Zombieland. If you aren't familiar, they are a list of rules the main character created to help him survive in the zombie infested world. If you didn't like Zombieland or don't care, whatev, just provide some clever, fun, or interesting rules and I'll try to compile the better ones into a complete list.

    4. When In Doubt, Know Your Way Out - Pretty self explanatory (taken right from Zombieland).

    5. Carry Extra Underwear - It just takes one creeper and you'll be sitting in your own filth all day.

    6. Beacon of Hope - A tall tower with lots of fire makes a good signal if you are ever lost.

    7. Never Dig Up - You are one block away from lava or water in the face...

I'll think of more, but I have other things to do right now. Give me your suggestions!

where do you want to reduce clicking? you are able to hold your mousebutton if you are mining btw.
rest of clicking is necessary imho.

Worse even, you can't mine by clicking, you have to hold the button down!

    omg rite?

In response to the previous essay, I present Another Essay on Minecraft

Think back to the first time you ever heard of minecraft. There are many factors which influenced the development of minecraft. While it is becoming a hot topic for debate, minecraft is featuring more and more in the ideals of the young and upwardly mobile. Crossing many cultural barriers it still draws remarks such as 'I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole' and 'i'd rather eat wasps' from the aristocracy, trapped by their infamous history. With the primary aim of demonstrating my considerable intellect I will now demonstrate the complexity of the many faceted issue that is minecraft.

    Social Factors

Interweaving social trends form a strong net in which we are all trapped. When J H Darcy said 'fevour will spread' [1] she could have been making a reference to minecraft, but probably not. Spanning divides such as class, race and uglyness, minecraft smells of success.

Recent thought on minecraft has been a real eye-opener for society from young to old. To put it simply, people like minecraft.

    Economic Factors

Economics has been defined as 'I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine.' To my learned ear that sounds like two people with itchy backs. Of course, minecraft fits perfectly into the JTB-Guide-Dog model of economics.

(X is minecraft, Y is cost of living)

The results displayed in the graph are too clear to be ignored. In spite of the best efforts of The World Bank the cost of living has always depended upon minecraft to a certain extent, but now more that ever. The financial press seems unable to make up its mind on these issues which unsettles investors.

    Political Factors

No man is an island, but what of politics? Comparing the ideals of the young with the reality felt by their elders is like contrasting minecraftism and post-minecraftism.

Consider this, spoken at the tender age of 14 by that most brilliant mind Vatusia T. Time 'Taking a walk across hot coals will inevitably hurt your feet.' [2] Considered by many to be one of the 'Founding Fathers' of minecraft, his words cannot be over-looked. If our political system can be seen as a cake, then minecraft makes a good case for being the icing.
One of the great ironies of this age is minecraft. Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

    Conclusion

We can say with certainty minecraft has played a large part in the development of man in the 20th Century and its influence remains strong. It collaborates successfully, invades where necessary and statistically it's great.

As a parting shot here are the words of super-star Clint Travolta: 'My Daddy loved minecraft and his Daddy loved minecraft.' [3]

Notch fails. Big time. He has to much clicking in this game. Click, click, click, for hours on end. Playing a game is not supposed to give Carpel's Tunnel Syndrome. Why is he wasting time with lanterns and hell and stuff. he should remove all the clicking.

All this clicking is RUINING the game. Notch is RUINING the game.
Notch needs to learn to fix the right things!

    Click!

A joke? Every computer game involves clicking...
