Sadly, yes Which is also why I'm trying to move my mod over to forge, but isn't working out too well. ModLoader is limited to the amount of item/block spaces, or indicies left in the game, as Forge is limited to another 256x grid of spaces as much as I know. Forge allows you to put everything on one file such as in Minecraft, while ModLoader requires individual textures for each.

My mod is for 1.2.5. and I'm making a sword. I want to use iron for the recipe, what do I put Item.Iron?
It should be ingotIron.shiftedIndex or something along the lines of that. Look in the Items.java file for the exact coding name.

I got it. I was just wondering how to transfer it so I can play it without startclient.bat. Do you happen to know how to make a block only breakable by a Diamond Pickaxe? I've been trying to find that out for ages.
You would have to set up an appropriate harvestLevel for the item. I forgot what class this was dealt with in, but I believe the right HL is 3 for diamond for the block. I believe it is in ItemPickaxe.java, but this required the editing of base classes, unless you are doing this with forge.

I'm not sure if there's a hook for that, but you can always search with eclipse.

Wow, thanks for you tutorials. Hope to see more in the future. Suggestion: maybe a tutorial on how to add a new brewing recipe and potion color to a new potion, but with potion effects already in the game (ex. nausea, blindness, wither, etc.)
I've been thinking about playing around with brewing and potions, but we'll see. Thanks for the input

When I reobfuscate my mod and want to use it do I just put it in a zipped folder and open minecraft?
What do you mean? If you want to use your mod after reobfuscation, it's the same as installing any other mod, just put the .CLASS files from the obf folder into your minecraft.jar. Please expand on your question, I don't think I'm understanding what you mean. Use it as in to play the mod with your minecraft?Quote from jaytrey

Not this is not nessisaryily for you jbond, but does anyone know how to make the tempature in a biome lower so it snows?
I believe that there is a hook in the biome classes that allows snow to fall. Look in the code for the Taiga biome or the Tundra. It has to be in there.

Nevermind. I got it to work. Thanks. One question. my mountians are way to tall. How do I make it so they are not extreme edges buut slope up and are still tall?
He has seemed to stop posting. It's quite annoying.
I haven't stopped posting, I've just been taking a break from responding to most of the questions. I've been overwhelmed with schoolwork and moderating work so much that it has taken a toll on my ability to provide and help out here.

As do I. I know the team is taking a lot of pride in doing this right the first time, and I, personally, do not see an issue waiting to see the results.
Yea, I'm quite excited to see what kind of features the API will entail, and as a modder myself, I am going to hope it will make making more texture indices easier among other things.
