posted a message on Aether Collaboration Mod - what happened to it?
Funny how after you lock the thread to the most popular mod for MC simply because it's overwhelming (obviously) you lose 98% of your fan base.

Also, I know you arent going to read this, but if you dont release it through these forums, then you still will have lost 98% of your fan base. Notice how you only have 68 likes on facebook. I know that doesnt reflect everyone who's following your forums, but stil 68? You can do better.

posted a message on Millénaire - NPC village - 16/09/18 : Millénaire 7 open beta
    @Kinniken

So, i realize this is kinda a big request, but could the builders in Millenaire be one of the following 2 things?

    1. Magical (place blocks as long as they're on the property, like they used to)
    2. Smart (able to upgrade a fort in 10x less time, because they don't have to run back and forth to place 1 block)

I mean, I get that you made them more realistic in that they have to be at least close to place blocks, but it goes side to side, row by row, whether or not it's efficient. Might I suggest a new building method that:

    • Builds layer by layer (upwards, not sideways)
    • Builds in chunks, so that production on that layer starts in a corner of the property, and places needed blocks in 4x4x1 block chunks, then moves to the next chunk on that layer (if it would be easier, 4x4x4 block chunks would be ok too!)
    • If you still want them to walk on the layer they're working on, might i suggest scaffolding (stairs) to get them up to that layer.

Like I said, a huge request. Basically, I like that you're trying to add realism to the building process, but unless if it is efficiently realistic then i prefer unrealistic. Im sure many others feel the same way. I like to look at them build, not wander around aimlessly adding 1 block at a time.

Edit: Or maybe at least a spiral build design, that way they can get the walls in 1 shot, then focus on the inner parts of the layer after, instead of building right to left and walking (not building) back to right.

posted a message on Definition: RPG =/= Skills, Hunger, or anything else to complain about
Definition of RPG: A narrative game where the player takes on a specific character and controls their decisions to quest and achieve preset goals.

Definition of Minecraft: A sandbox game where the player plays as a nobody and doesn't quest and never achieves preset goals because they don't exist. And no, achievements don't count lol.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines it the same, except with a "referee" to alter the story as they see fit. In the case of video games, a player that chooses conversation options, story progressions, and other similarities is the "Referee", that is considered an RPG. Minecraft then, is not.

The only time we may ever see quests would be through villages and villagers, and you know how hard it to find just one village?

Basically Minecraft's gameplay says "Hey, I'm meant to be a survival sandbox game, but if you dont want the challenge of survival then thats ok. Oh, and by the way, we may possibly in the far future include an RPG element so far away that you wont even notice it unless you intentionally look for it."

"What is happening to Minecraft? D:"

    "Do you agree?"

    My response: "what?"

    Quote from Shmurkle

Take a look at the picture for the 1.9 inventory screen. Minecraft is turning into more of an RPG game than I want. If 1.9 seriously contains what Jeb and Notch are saying and taking screenshots of, I'm not updating my Minecraft unless I have to!

I'm not trying to flame, because I know Mojang is putting lots of work into this. I'm just stating my opinion. :smile.gif:

He isnt turning into an RPG, he's adding more challenge. "Oh ****, my mining is lvl 1. Hey, I have 10 skill points! Woot, now i get to mine 2x as fast!"

I dont see anything to ***** about.

posted a message on Why does Common Item (Chest) Look Dumb in FAST light?
    Quote from MurphClan

I'm irritated that the new chests:

    - look bad in fast lighting --> almost everyone has lag problems and so they simplify to speed up - makes program look glitchy.

    - is the most common item and doesn't look good in fast lighting.

    - make a lot of noise. The visual is fun, but the slamming noise gets irritating. I feel like there's a time delay too in getting the chest open.

    - doesn't line up, is out of proportion, with other blocks.

I'd just like the option of the classic chest.

Wow, this is a new low for a complaint thread... when you close a chest its supposed to make noise. As for it being smaller, it has to have room for the lid to open in the back, otherwise there would be a collision problem with the block behind it.

Next you'll want doors to stop making noise, and grass to stop making footprint sounds. It really isnt that big of a deal.

posted a message on Why NPCs shouldn't be changed
    Quote from Psybeam524

Alot of people hate the new NPCs, but they shouldn't be changed.
NPC stands for Non Playable Character. So if they have the original player skin, then they won't be NPC's, would they (you can easily copy their skin)

It makes no sense to be the ONLY HUMAN IN EXISTENCE *echo echo echo*

I would rather trade with humans, whether that's racist or not.

posted a message on Is Minecraft becoming a joke?
    Quote from Ricowan

Minecraft isn't your game. It's not "the people's" game either. It's Notch's game. In the end, it will only be what he wants it to be.

I'm not a huge fan of some of the changes, but at least I can see reality. And having 10 or 20 people, out of 3+ million purchasers, complain about something on a forum that Notch doesn't even read isn't going to change anything.

You're right, it's not my game. But after 3.5 million copies sold it is not purely Notch's game either. It is a fact that the majority of the purchases were made before the information given for 1.8 and 1.9. With knowing that we can assume that those purchasers had no knowledge of MC becoming what it is.

And with that, it is also a fact that the majority of them dont keep themselves as informed as we do. I'm willing to bet that if you showed every single purchaser the direction that MC is going in, that it would be pretty much 50/50. But what, 1.75 mil people have to be disappointed? That's the part im talking about.

Yes, all those numbers are assumed, but after reading these forums i've seen that the opinions are about 50/50, and i think the general populous would be about the same. So, why add something that would disappoint so many when it's so foreign to the game that they've grown fond of?

Like I said, I want infected areas, i want NPC's, i just dont want them to be a joke.
