And the stupid prank is still alive. I'm in EST. It's well into the morning of the 2nd in Europe.

I can't believe I have to download and install a resource pack consisting of the game's sound. It's absurd.

What all the sycophants defending this nonsense don't understand is this: a lot of the frustration from me and others is about respect, or the lack of it. These people at Mojang say it's all in good fun. Bull. It's fun at my expense. At the expense of my son. At the expense of thousands of other people -- about whose lives the developers and sycophants know nothing but seem to feel comfortable judging.

It doesn't matter that it's a minor inconvenience. The fact is that it's an intentional inconvenience. Think about if you're driving to work, and when you try to get on the highway, there's a gigantic lineup of cars waiting to get on the entrance ramp. It turns out that somebody drove an SUV onto the ramp, parked it sideways, walked away leaving only a sign saying "Aprils' Fools."

I very much doubt anyone here would think that was funny. I very much think that pretty much everyone would be at least annoyed. A lot of people would be angry. And yet . . . it's just a minor inconvenience, right? You can still get to work. It will just take your five to ten minutes longer as you drive local roads to get to the next freeway on-ramp. Somehow I doubt that will make you feel any better.

How dare Mojang not tailor their schedule to suit your poor kid's needs. Mojang are truly heartless, they should have delayed April Fools just so your kid could sit in front of his computer playing Minecraft all day.

Seriously though, the amount of entitlement emanating from these threads is getting ridiculous. Nobody's life is going to be ruined because they can't play Minecraft for a single day.
Maybe this is a good time to teach your kid that life won't hand him everything on a silver platter and that not everything always goes according to plan.

Or maybe they should let people turn off the joke.

Entitlement? Are you serious? You're now giving me parenting advice? My son already knows everything doesn't go according to plan. One of his weekend activities is learning computer programming, and I make sure to teach him about error handling, code robustness, etc. He plays sports. He understands that refs or umps make bad calls, and he needs to play through it.

Oh, and we've gotten plenty of lessons in "not according to plan" when we spent Christmas in a hotel because a snowstorm knocked out the heat in our home for five days.

But this isn't a snowstorm or referee's bad call. This is intentional. This is being jerked around, and I don't appreciate it from Mojang, and I don't appreciate your judgmental, self-absorbed comments about how I need to parent my son differently.

Just because YOU don't think it's a big deal doesn't mean that others agree. I never said it's going to ruin his life. But he's going to be bummed out this evening. He's 8. Thanks, Mojang!

"ItIsMe99", can I ask why you are insulting me for suggesting something? And Janthar, I apologize. I heard that in somewhere, theres a file that ends in af. If you take that out, then the sounds will be normal.

I read elsewhere that doesn't work.

I thought you meant some community thing.
This is just an April Fools joke... itll go away tomorrow

And tomorrow is too late for my son. He's got sports practice tomorrow, Thursday and Friday. Over the weekend, he does math and reading. Tuesday is his day.

Seriously? You CAN turn sounds off, right!?!

How am I supposed to play with sounds off? When I'm mining, I like to hear lava so I don't die. When I'm in a cavern, I like to hear monster effects. Sometimes sounds help me get my bearings.

Whatever YOU think about ME shouldn't matter. You don't know me. You don't know my son. You don't know how we play the game. And why should I or he or anyone else have to explain ourselves to anyone. All I want is to play the game I purchased. This simple desire does not make me a whiner, a jerk, or humorless.

Oh no, you might have to avoid playing Minecraft for a WHOLE DAY in order to not get your precious sensibilities offended! How awful!

I'm so mad that Mojang decided to pull an April Fool's prank on April Fool's Day! I had so many great plans for today, and now they're all RUINED! Thanks a lot, Jeb! I can't believe I have to wait an entire DAY in order for things to go back to normal. Why didn't my parents teach me how to be patient!? Now I HAVE to post on Minecraft Forums to vent my bile because my entire life up until this point has been instant gratification and being treated with kid gloves to make sure that my precious feelings don't get hurt! You've just ruined Minecraft, Mojang! :steve_tearful:

You have no idea what others' lives are like. What makes you think you can judge them?

I worked a 14 hour day yesterday. I wanted to chill out with Minecraft for an hour before bed. Let me tell you something: my workday was plenty full of frustrations. Then I open Minecraft, and guess what, another frustration: this one was intentional. So I was upset. You got a problem with that, Mr. I-have-no-responsibility-in-life?

My son plays Minecraft on Tuesdays. He's 8. It's his one Minecraft day per week. So it's not one day, it's a week. And he's 8, so no, patience isn't his strong suit. He'll get over it, but again, why?

You know, kids play this game. They don't necessarily have an adult's sense of humor.

My son gets one day a week to play Minecraft. It's now trashed. He's going to be upset. It won't ruin his life or anything, but Mojang, think about what you've done. You've basically taken candy from a baby.

All of you people saying "oh, it's just one day" -- tell that to my 8 year old son.

He has a busy schedule: sports, extracurriculars, math. Tuesday is his Minecraft day. He looks forward to it and now it's ruined.

The idea that you people have that you can judge others' lives -- talk about being self-absorbed.

I've had a long day of work -- grueling, difficult work. I was hoping to chill out for a while playing MC before sleeping. And then these horrible sounds.

Yeah, funny for a minute or two.

Now it's disrespectful and fundamentally obnoxious. Jeb is disturbing my life. He's having fun at others' expense. Nothing gives him the right to do that. If he wants to be a jerk I guess nobody can stop him, but it's very uncool.

Turn it off. Put it back. Stop screwing with people.
