posted a message on Exp Chest

Ender Exp Chests now work! Yay!

A simple experience chest. Best used if you are a high level and don't want to take a chance at losing your experience when you go adventuring. Also good if you just want so save up your experience without having the risk of one of those pesky creepers kill you while you are just getting a few resources. Now with an Ender Exp Chest you can store experience like the Ender Chest stores items. This means you can access your stored experience in any Ender Exp Chest from anywhere. The way the storage system works is exactly like the way getting experience levels in the game works, it isn't linear. So if you store 4 levels and then get to level 22 and try to retrieve those 4 levels your new level won't be 26 it will be somewhere between 22 and 26. This is because the amount of experience it takes to get to level 4 is less than the amount it takes to get to level 26 from level 22.

First of all make sure you are using the latest version of the mod, if you are not then update to the newest version. If the error continues to happen continue reading. The only solution I can come up with at the moment is to back up your worlds, delete your .minecraft, and reinstall everything. Making sure you have the most recent version of this mod is key because if you don't I will ignore your error messages.

posted a message on Will my computer be able to run the shaders mod?

Your computer should easily be able to run the shader mods. The amount of FPS you would get is dependent on if you overclock your graphics card and which shaders you use. However you should get a reasonable amount of FPS even if you have no idea what I just said. To check your FPS you can press F3 while playing Minecraft and look in the top left.

At this point I am probably going to wait until 1.8 because of forge, with the update of forge from Minecraft 1.6 to Minecraft 1.7 there were many things that I did not personally like about it and the way the keep updating it. I am hoping with the release of Minecraft 1.8 that some of these things will be fixed.

It looks like your mc variable is null. Instead of using mc to bind the texture do

posted a message on (Solved)Drop item even if not in Inventory
Well what you want to do first is identify where you need to place the code. What you need to do to drop an item is spawn an EntityItem into the world. So where the player death code is you add

    if(!theWorld.isRemote())
    {
    theWorld.spawnEntityInWorld(new EntityItem(theWorld, playerX, playerY + 0.5, playerZ, new ItemStack(Mod.item /*could also be a block here*/, numberOfItem)));
    }

theWorld.spawnEntityInWorld tells the game to put an entity into the world, dropped items are entites.
new EntityItem is the entity you are spawning, you use playerx, playery + 0.5, and playerz to have it spawn where the player was. the + 0.5 on the playery makes sure it doesn't spawn in a block.
new ItemStack is the item that you are actually dropping

Here is how to install Minecraft Forge and forge mods

    Quote from ezeglace

it seems bugged it loses all my whole levels but keeps the fraction between levels

Hmm, let me test the released version and get back to you.

EDIT: After testing I can not recreate the situation, I knew I had these issues but only with my next, non-released version that I'm working on. Try installing it again and see what happens.

    Quote from Lauraa

Hey uh... How do you install the HD textures? :steve_blushing:

You're going to have to change the folder name to 'expChest' and then either drop it in a HD texture pack or create a separate .zip file

posted a message on [1.3.2] SkillsAPI (From the creators of Advanced Skills) Beta 0.2.1
    SkillsAPI
    What it does:
SkillsAPI allows you to dynamically create new skills sets like the ones in the Advanced Skills mod. There is a very low chance of conflict between creating skills, the conflicts will come when you edit the same base file as someone else.

    How it works:
It uses a simple registry system to what skills to display based upon what book you have open.

    What doesn't work:
    • Saving the skills is kinda iffy at the moment, I hope to get it fixed soon. If anybody has any suggestions on what the issue is that would be great
    • Buffs/Active skills. I have not implemented their API yet.
    • Storing skills experience
    Bugs:
    Saving skills blah blah
    Saving the skill gui inventory
Crashes wipe all the skills data for some reason

    Javadoc:
    Coming soon.

    Download:
    Note: This requires modloader
MainAPI(Comes with the icons and branches used in the tutorial below)
Source code from the tutorial below

Simple how to (with images :D )

First download and decompile (Download located above) I'm not going to tell you how to do this because you should know it. Then start eclipse
If you get any decompile issues please inform me and I will try to help you fix them

    Now for the fun
Start by creating a new mod_ that extends base mod as normal

Then create a new item making it an ItemSkillBook

Next do the normal modloader stuff, add an in game name, a crafting recipe, and an iconindex

    Now for the SkillsAPI stuff

So first with the API you want to register your skill book (which also registers the skill)

As you noticed I left one of the parameters "blank" well that is because that is where the gui class for the skill book goes.

So now leave your mod_ class how it is and create a new class that extends SkillsGuiAPI and add the abstract methods.

You will notice 3 methods, createSkillTree, desc, and getTexture() we are going to start with createskillTree. But first lets go back to your mod_ class and add your gui class to the "blank" I left

    now on to createSkillTree

createSkillTree takes place of your constructor and initGui. You will notice the two arguments passed into createSkillTree, the first argument represents the bottom area of the skill tree and the second is the left side of the skill tree. createSkillTree is only used for buttons
To add a new skill button do this

    and now for desc

desc is used to get the description of every skill in the current skill tree, here is what it should look like

    finally for getTexture

getTexture returns a string of where you want your icon textures to come from inside your jar for your skills like this from Advanced Skills mod

Since I am going to go ahead and use the texture from Advanced Skills I am going to set it to this

    After all of that whala

now you will notice the reset button there, that is there because it is in Advanced Skills, you can edit it out or change its position in SkillsGuiAPI class

I will update with how to use the skills tomorrow.

posted a message on Things to and not to post in Mods Discussion [Updated 8/25/12]
A brief list of what to and not to post in this section.

    You are able to:
    • Post questions about modding EXCEPT code, that belongs in Mod Development
    • Ask relevant questions about mods and modding
    • Post relevant information involving modding or mods
    • Ask for technical assistance about mods, ie: compatibility issues or error reports
    • Post topics about getting a mod team together
    • Ask for help on how to use a mod IF the answer can not be found in the mod's thread itself
    You are not able to:
    • Post WIP mods, they belong in the WIP section of the Minecraft Mods subforum
    • Post code, that belongs in Mod Development
    • Generally if you ask "Is there a mod that...", that belongs in the Requests/Ideas for Mods subforum
    • Ask for mod ideas, check the Requests/Ideas for Mods subforum (This does not mean post there)
    • This is a big one, do not post about plugins. All things plugin related (help, assistance, technical issues, or a plugin itself) belong in the Custom Server Software subforum under the Servers forum.
    • Advertise your mod or create a thread to just discuss your mod
    • Post threads asking if a mod is updated.
    • Post errors before you check the mods thread to see if the solution is already there
If anything is unclear or you aren't quite sure if you are posting in the right section, read the sectional rules.
Mapping and modding: Section specific rules and information! [4/25/2012] - Minecraft Forum
If it is still unclear after that feel free to send a message to a moderator or admin.

    Thanks,
    jamolnng

Do you like how redundant I am?
