posted a message on New Cave Idea: Wet Cave

This cave has been suggested by the community a lot, a sort of "underground oasis", you guys know what I mean. I thought I'd actually make this cave in a world.

So this is a new cave I'm suggesting and spawns for it are as so.

    • Plains, Forests, Oceans - Low Chance
    • Jungles, Swamps - High Chance
    • All other biomes - No Chance

The cave is basically an underwater cave with a huge pocket of air on top, so resembling a sort of "underground river" or "underground oasis".

The water has a lot of Sea Pickles which makes the river look "glowing" as well as Seagrass. The land has lots of Vines, Brown Mushrooms and defective Sea Pickles. There are also chunks of Mossy Cobblestone.

Don't worry, I've tested it, Drowned and other mobs do still spawn in the cave.

    Quote from Adamnewbie»
s I felt like the farming side of the game is lacking. I have come up with a couple of ideas to make farming more enjoyable and fun.Ok, a good concept and it seems good so far.
    1. CornCornbread seems like a good alternative to Steak, but I don't really think Corn has much of a use. It could be good in building, though.
    See the source image
    2. RiceYou will find this crop in jungle edges and swampland's in large patches around water sources. This crop you plant in one block of water and will grow 1 block out from the surface. You can make 2 sashimi from it by crafting 1 rice 1 dried kelp and 1 fish (salmon or cod only) I think Sashimi should require Tropical Fish, so we can have more of a use for it. in the crafting grid which will give you 4 hunger points. You can also make rice sheets which is crafted from two rice which will give you 1 hunger point. Chickens can be bred with rice as well. Ehh... I don't really think it's useful, in fact it's pretty useless. Even Sashimi doesn't have a use apart from being another food (and for the steps required).
    See the source image
    3. Fruit TreesThese will spawn in the new orchard biome. You can find 6 types of fruit trees orange, apple, apricot, peach, pear, and cherry. Each tree will spawn up to 6 pieces of fruit every day and a half. Each tree has its own sapling and will take 1.5x longer to grow than regular trees. They are mainly used as a food source and each one will fill 2 food points. Bees have a higher chance to spawn in fruit trees as well.Fruit trees also seem pretty useless. Although this could potentially be a cool concept, there's not really anything distinguishing them from other trees apart from the Bees and Fruit, and the number you suggested is also useless, as there's plenty of other food sources.
    See the source image
    4. GarlicFound in birch forests, regular forests, and dark forests this can be used to make garlic bread (1 garlic and 1 bread) and will give you 6 food points. You can also hang them up outside your house and will fend off zombies who try to bust down your door. And will be useful in villager protection. Garlic seems like it become a really useful item!
    See the source image
    5. Blueberries and Strawberries. These can be found in flower forests in bunches. When crafted with 1 sweet berry 1 blueberry and 1 strawberry and a bowl you can make a berry salad and will restore 8.5 hunger points. That is a lot of hunger for such little of a price, this could be a bit OP.
See the source imageSee the source imageThis is pretty useless.
    See the source image
I think unique Pumpkin variants should be really rare. White Pumpkins should be unique to the Nether.
    See the source image
New flowers seem like a great cosmetic touch and ambient item!
    See the source image
This is missing details. What biomes do Crows spawn in? What health do they have? Are they hostile?
    See the source image
    Another useless new food item.
    See the source image
What are Desert Lakes? This is also a useless food item.
    See the source image
Wax Blocks and Candles seem like a great idea!

Some of the ideas seem great but most are extremely useless.
Some support, but not much overall.

posted a message on Cave Fog - Improve Exploration Using Graphics

Hello. I made this post nearly a year ago but I thought I'd repost it again and try to revive the idea. So it seems everybody really wants a Cave Update in Minecraft. New blocks, items, mobs, ect... Instead of starting off with huge improvements, I think it would be good if a new graphical feature was added to caves. This would be Cave Fog.

Cave Fog would affect all caves below sea level. It would at first look like mist in the distance, but the longer you stay in the cave the more of it appears. At caves near the surface the fog is just a light gray, but at Bedrock level it becomes black. The fog also appears at the bottom of cave drop offs. Ravines also have fog settled at the bottom and this becomes way more apparent when actually on the floor of the ravine. Also, caves which have light coming from the surface (like ravines) will have lighter fog during the day which will become a lot heavier at night.

There are ways to get rid of Cave Fog, though. Light sources would get rid of it. Holding Torches or Lanterns makes the fog retreat. If you stop holding them, though, it will soon return. Placed Torches, Lanterns, Glowstone, Sea Lanterns and any other light source blocks also help rid of the fog. Dropped light source items also help get rid of it. This would be useful for if you come across a drop off and throw a torch down so you can see the bottom. Also, if there's fog in between you and a light source, the fog in the way will be that colour. Although not producing light, all types of mushrooms (big and small, but not mycelium) get rid of the fog.

For anyone whose computers are not that good or do not like Cave Fog, there would be a slider in the Video Settings to lower or get rid of it. There would also be a gamerule /gamerule CaveFog true/false .

Hope you enjoyed my suggestion! Below is what it could look like.

posted a message on New weapon idea: Gun

I think a lot of people here have a strong biased against the Gun just because it is a Gun. Let's say it was named something else and textured differently (maybe it's a Blowgun?) and these textures and name changes had absolutely no effect on how it works (so still the same as mentioned). I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't not like it as much even though the mechanics would still be the same. A lot of you really don't like it just because it's a Gun.

It doesn't really matter if you're giving incentive to do it or not, we could use that as an argument for the fact that they refuse to add things like sharks or lions. Also, how to they incentivate animal cruelty? I suppose it depends on your personal beliefs, but as long as it's being done in a humane and non wasteful way, then eating meat shouldn't be considered cruel. It is also entirely possible to do a vegetarian or vegen playthrough. Or do you perhaps mean something else? I'm genuinely curious.

There are tons of things in Minecraft that can influence kids and are not really right, and guns seem like a kids toy compared to them (not actually serious).

    • Destroying terrain to build structures.
    • Chopping down trees to build structures.
    • Steak gives the most food in the game, encouraging you to kill Cows.
    • Automatic mob farms are a thing.
    • TNT and Flint and Steel (equivalent to a lighter) are in the game.

    You could go on...

Sooooo guns are fine because bows "shoot" things and guns "shoot" things..? Huh..?? Yes, let's add something that's a complete upgrade from bows and muck up the balance of ranged weapons by adding bullets.

This argument of "you don't have to use it" doesn't change anything. There's a thousand things in the game I don't have to use, that doesn't add weight to something in the game being good or not. If an insta-kill infinite-ammo sniper is added to the game, me not having to use it in singleplayer doesn't make the idea not a horribly stupid and overpowered add. Being bannable in servers also doesn't save the idea. The idea shouldn't touch the game to begin with. It doesn't fit (which I'll explain) and it shreds the game's balance.

You didn't have to specify the gun was terrible. Because I did. I don't know what point you're trying to prove with "server choosing to ban" stuff. Didn't have much to do with what I was talking about.

I really thought that would be obvious. Arrows take time to reach their target. Crossbows do this faster, but are balanced by having slower reloading. Then there's guns, with instant travel bullets that punches arrows right in the face and makes bows useless. Sure, guns could be tweaked to be more balanced, but why does it need to be there? Why do we need a straight upgrade from crossbows? It's too much.

Yes, I know guns existed in medieval times but that still doesn't make the idea a good add. We have swords, throwable potions, shields, arrows, flint & steel and TNT that are all well-balanced. Do we seriously need to throw bullets in this? Is it that hard to hunt down mobs from a distance.

    1. I'm just saying you're biased because I'm sure if it was just called something different it wouldn't feel that out of place. Stop nitpicking the smallest things.

    2. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean every server will ban it.

    1. No not "tough luck". Do (cross)bows shoot bullets? Nooooo. You should have thought that one out.

    2. *facedesk* Wow congrats, you just used one of the most hated, invalid arguments of all time. "If you don't like it don't use it!" Dude, no. If an idea is bad, it's bad. Going "you don't have to use it! =D" doesn't save the idea from being garbage. Seriously, that's an awful awful argument. Guns aren't for Minecraft and never will be, no matter how good you think you can argue it.

If servers have to ban something so terrible, then mayyyybe the idea is pretty bad to start with and shouldn't touch the game? Before you respond, please use the search function and take a good look at all the other gun threads that have been hated and locked. Maybe take some game development courses too.

    1. What does it matter what the name of the ammunition is? If they renamed it from "Bullets" to "Arrows" or "Pellets" would change your opinion on it? Probably not, it's just a word and doesn't affect the actual gameplay of the weapon in question. You also didn't specify bullets you just said "get shot in the face". Bows can shoot people? So can Crossbows.

    2. Well, what you're saying has some holes in it (no pun). First off, in this case, not having to use it does make sense. It's a weapon, and there are plenty of others you can use that are already in the game. For example, right now, Crossbows and Bows coexist. If I don't want to use a Crossbow to go kill mobs, the game is not forcing me to. People have been going without Crossbows since Alpha (before Crossbows addition) and they still can if they choose not to use one.

Also, I didn't specify the gun was "terrible" for servers to be using. If a server chooses to ban the gun then that's their choice. I'm sure not every person who plays this game is going to be banning the Gun from their server.

As a last note, you still didn't say at all why the gun wouldn't fit into Minecraft.

posted a message on Ability to open singleplayer worlds to WAN instead of manually port-forwarding.
    Quote from thatplay3r»

Basically, what I'm thinking is, some people want to be able to play Minecraft with friends, but they don't have the spare money to buy servers and they don't have the knowledge or can't be bothered to port-forward their router. I'm thinking there should be a button somewhere saying "Open to WAN" where it automatically port-forwards a server, giving you an IP for people outside of your LAN to join.
Similar to the AdvancedSharing mod: https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/advsharing

I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this suggestion, sorry if they have.

I just like the idea. I hope others agree with me.

This would be great and my friends and I could play on a server together whenever we want.

It would not be cool. No. I have no idea why people keep thinking guns are something that would "work". We don't need pure upgrades from what we have in the game. No one wants to join a multiplayer game and get shot in the face.

Comparing this to the a mod is meaningless. A mod can be chosen. A vanilla addition is permanently there for everyone. I don't know what part of you is thinking that "guns would be perfect", but that part of you has a bad view on game design.

    1. Tough luck because Bows and Crossbows can already shoot people.

    2. Servers can also ban guns, and you don't have to use it if you don't want to in singleplayer.
