This is pointless since you can just delete it directly from the saves folder, like any other file (there is a popular misconception that worlds are part of your online account but that isn't true) as anybody who really wants to delete a world would do and even if they didn't know exactly where they were saved a quick online search will tell them (this is the first result I got for "minecraft save location").
However, a password could be useful if you just want to prevent a not so technically inclined person, such as a young child, from playing on a world or deleting it, but I still think this is the purpose of the launcher itself, which requires a password in order to play the game - just keep it secret and log out when you aren't playing (I never do this myself, only logging in if the launcher forgets, which is rare, but I'm the only one who uses the computer it is on). You can also have multiple computer accounts (not necessarily game accounts) with multiple save locations since the default location is the user's application data folder.
I can 100% say that my parents, sibling, cousins, friends, colleagues or anyone else would not go through the hassle of files to delete my world let alone even know how to.
Hello everyone, as you all know Minecraft is pretty vague with its backstory and doesn't really have a lore. This lore is up to the player to decide, you create your own history to the world you live in, so I'd like to hear your theories you have on the Minecraft universe. I will start by posting some of the potential explanations to things in the game.
The Overworld
A planet? A pocket dimension? A plane of existence? I will discuss some of the theories about the Overworld I have come up with myself or have seen across several posts and videos while scouring the internet.
The first is that the Overworld is a planet. This is supported by the fact that there is a sun and a moon in Minecraft. Perhaps the Overworld is supposed to be Earth? This would make the star in the sky our Sun, and the moon at night the Moon. Maybe the infinite world and barrier, as well as the void and bedrock, are just that, game barriers. The ends of the world could not actually be a part of the lore, and maybe they're just there because of game limitations. I don't necessarily support the Earth theory, because the Milky Way isn't visible (even though there's no light pollution) as well as other things which don't fit, but I do think there is the possibility that the Overworld is a planet. This also maybe isn't the case, though, because there is no equator which is really hot and there are no poles where it is really cold.
Also, another theory is that maybe the other stars in the sky at night are actually other player's worlds? And a third theory I've came across is that maybe lore-wise, the actual world is supposed to infinite, and we are all located on it in different places. Seeds could just be places.
Maybe the Minecraft world is similar to the flat earth hoax, except in the game of Minecraft it's real. When the Farlands were in the game, maybe that could be something similar to an ice wall encompassing the world. The sun and moon could just be circling around. Anything's possible in a game like Minecraft. You could really go crazy with some of these theories.
What I think is the most likely is that the Overworld is just a plane of existence or a dimension which is inhabited and populated by plants and animals. The Nether and the End could also be planes of existence just like the Overworld. Maybe there is also a world similar to the Matrix, where the players there build portals to enter the Overworld?
The Apocalypse
What I think one of the explanations behind lore is in Minecraft is that the currently populated world is just the remnants of a mass extinction event, war, or apocalypse. Maybe a plague wiped out most life? This could explain Zombies, Zombie Horses and Zombie Villagers (which could just be the plague on the current Villagers. Maybe Drowned are the remnants of an aquatic civilization. They could have been the creators of the Ocean Monuments. The Guardians could be just that, guardians of the monument built by this civilization. They drop Prismarine, so this could mean they're golems, further enforcing this theory. We know that Villagers and Villages are minuscule civilizations compared to ancient wonders like the Desert Temple and Jungle Temple. These old civilizations were capable of burials with traps and possessions. Maybe these burials hint at a higher in power person? Maybe a king or ruler of the civilization? Anyways, ruins and zombies indicate at least something happened, we just don't know what happened.
Those are some theories for Minecraft. Feel free to post yours down below.
I'd much rather like to keep Apples on Oak Trees, with some slight tweaks like making leaves containing apples have a different texture. I understand that Apples don't come from Oak Trees, but I think that it makes the trees unique in Minecraft. Plus, what unique wood would an Apple Tree give?
Not all of the trades are bad, as others have pointed out. I can but corals and bamboo and saplings from the trader which I otherwise cannot get. That being said, maps to biomes which the Wandering Trader sells, despite being suggested a lot, are still a good idea.
Full Support!
Although I do think it needs more content then just that...
I wish that update 1.17 will have dream world as old update, not only that but it will also have a storyline for new players to survive without being surprised and bored.
And you ?
The dream world could be a good idea but right now it doesn't have enough new content to make it worth it, and we don't know other details like any way to access it on purpose, how to get back, ect... I also do think that a lore/storyline would ruin the game.
It really doesn't matter whether we want these things or not, they are not going to happen in 1.16. It is the Nether Update, not the Dream Dimension Update.
And I think a storyline would be disastrous for Minecraft.
Mojang doesn't come on this forum. Nobody on here posts these things expecting them to be added.
I love this idea! More arthropods added into the Nether would be great (and in fact, they should be added more in all of the dimensions)! Like you said, this would also make the Bane of Arthropods enchantment more useful!
Full Support!
I could think of a couple of ideas for Nether arthropods. I am going to add in some obvious ones like a nether spider, but a few of the creatures I'm going to brainstorm down below are going to be a bit unique. Of course these names would not be final.
Nether spider: This could be a creature which lives on the sides of the cave walls. It is like an ambush predator, and jumps down and grabs onto you. Instead of cave walls, perhaps it could also spawn inside of the lava lakes and jump out at you when it is near.
Bottom Feeders: These could be like white silverfish which spawn on skeletons sticking out of the lava.
Hermit Crab: Perhaps this could use blocks found throughout the Nether to form a shell. The danger level of the crab could even change depending on the block (such as a magma block as a shell, or even a magma cube as a SHELL). It would spawn near lava lakes and perhaps be neutral or territorial, so maybe it could get mad if you attempt to mine blocks and mistake it for one (try to mine it) or it could just get mad if you get really close to it. Perhaps it could spawn in lava as well, just imagine bridging across and like 5 little crabs just crawl out onto your bridge.
Egg Sacs and Baby Spiders: These would be found in there own unique cave biome. They would be like sacs on the side of the walls and if you disturb it it pops and a bunch of mini spiders jump out and attack you. Perhaps even a type of swarming beetle which could pop out of them.
Seems like a good idea, and I think its cool. The only issue is that I don't feel like many people would use it in survival, and even in creative I don't think many people would use the feature in builds. Its just kinda obscure. Cool concept though!
Well one idea could be a great trap for a base. In the bedrock edition you can water log barrier blocks and walk over it like the water is a solid block itself. This would be great if you are building an adventure map and say want to lava log blocks to make a sort of maze!
That is silly as it would have... Wait..... How many uses would it have? Oh yeah, i remember, ZERO. Lava would burn most blocks and it would have no use.
You say it would have no use but the op gave an example of what he would use it for in his post. Because you wouldn't use a feature doesn't mean others wouldn't and it shouldn't be in the game.
this idea is exactly how it sounds, all of the blocks that could be surrounded by water can now also be surrounded by lava, and lava can flow from these blocks as well, just like water-logged blocks.
I’m honestly really surprised this isn’t already a feature, it would open up a lot of possibilities for buildings, parkour maps (emphasis on HOW MUCH this would help out parkour maps), adventure maps, etc. I have always been so frustrated making parkour, and being limited in my creativity because of this.
I think this is a great idea! It also would be good to add now because of the Nether Update! You could also water log barrier blocks on the bedrock edition (something which should be in Java), so this would be great feature for people who are making puzzle maps or traps!
Full Support!
One other bit of speculation, what if we could also log blocks with things like snow, sand or gravel?
I only have one issue with this suggestion. What would happen if you lavalogged a burnable block? If it's fully surrounded by lava, there's nowhere for fire to spawn. Therefore, it can't burn. However, that seems far too unrealistic for the "gameplay > realism" argument, especially since it would be such a minuscule gameplay enhancement to begin with. Having lavalogged burnable blocks detect when they are fully surrounded doesn't seem like a good option, especially since the ability for Magma Blocks to randomly evaporate water beside them was removed in 1.13 for performance reasons.
Otherwise, I support this.
Well if you place a burnable block fully surrounded by lava right now it will still burn, so I'm pretty sure if you lava log a burnable block it would just burn.
I'm not sure if you know this already, but the Minecraft Forum is not controlled by Mojang, and they don't check on here either. As for the suggestion, though, if it is one, I completely agree that Lanterns should be able to be waterlogged!
if cubic chunks became part of the vanilla experience, there would be far more capacity to introduce the newer cave ideas people are suggesting, a sort of multilayered buried biomes system where people could find evidence of older biomes that existed before the surface ones, which would be interesting.
in addition you could have underground ruins in the buried jungles, with a new hostile mob type called goblins.
I never really liked how thin the ground was in Minecraft and how you could just hit bedrock layer in under 5 minutes, it limits the potential of the game and it means when you introduce new biomes, you end up replacing some of the older ones which would have generated in your world if you visited a new area because of the changes made to how worlds generate per seed.
I agree that cubic chunks would help out caves a lot! Although, I think this cave would work just fine right now with normal chunks, it's just like the water seeped into the cave and plants started growing.
