Minecraft has had biomes since Beta, but no way to change them. I like building, I'm working on a floating island map in a viod world but they're all one biome. Anyone else had experiences where you got stuck like this? Well... This is where the Biome Chaner comes in.
The Biome Changer recipe would be like this
Top Left = Acacia Sapling
Top = Spruce Sapling
Top Right = Dark Oak Sapling
Left = Birch Sapling
Middle = Tripwire Hook
Right = Jungle Sapling
Bottom Left = Red Mushroom, Brown Mushroom, Sea Grass, or Kelp
Bottom = Oak Sapling
Bottom Right = Any Tall Flower, Allium or Blue Orchid
The Biome Changer would be used as so. Right click on two corner, then do /"biomename" in the text bar. You could only put in the command after clicking both corners, and it wouldn't count as a cheat or command.
Overlapping Biomes would work as so, you would have to use something called a Biome Overlapper.
Recipe would be like so.
Middle = Biome Changer
All Other Grids = Grass Blocks (the block, not plant, and not dirt either)
Right clicking two corners of a 3d object (not actually there just the two corner peices) and doing the biome command would set a specific biome in that shape only. This would help builders tremendously building underground or sky places.
Final Touches
"/biome list" would show a page of biomes in the chat. If it doesn't fit do "/biome list 2" or "/biome list 3".
"/gamerule BiomeChanger false" would disable changing biomes and overalapping biomes, do true to re-enable it.
This suggestion would be good but the immense struggle it would cause. Wool would require you to first get shears. Animals could get stuck in your house or glitch out and you can do nothing. Leather would be almost impossible to get. The game would be waiting, waiting for crops to grow, waiting to find crops by killing zombies, tilling dirt or destroying grass, constantley walking for a village for beetroots, having to go find a jungle for melons, waiting for saplings to grow, destroying like 10 trees to get 3 apples. The base idea is good, but needs to be further explained or simplified. This challange could be done normally in normal minecraft, not to mention some vegans are fine with killing animals in games. How would you get ink sacs, leather, meat to feed dogs, remember that's a thing, humans are vegan wolfs aren't.
TheMasterCaver I actually explained how light blocks can get rid of fog, (your cave builds have a number of torches don't they), and how it would be more drastic depending on the cave and depth. I also said most of the fog would be gray, with the black and particles near or at bedrock. I also said there would be a gamerule to disable it. Did you even finish reading the
post.
ScotsMiser turning down the brightness doesn't really add "fog" but I can totally get what your saying. Also, please don't take this as an insult, I'm not trying to be rude, but you're a grindy player (signature) and many people who aren't and prefer exploring would enjoy this more.
I made a post this like a month ago, and it got hate, but your idea seems to fit some of mine. Nonetheless, I like yours.
An underground biome.
I think there should be large pockets like in the picture above. I also think Giant Mushrooms should be able to generate in the underground biomes, giving off bioluminescence.
More stone types.

About the large biomes, Mushroom and Swamp should be the most common and unique, with new plants, gouls, ect...
Even small caves should be dependant on the biomes, Dark Oak and Jungle caves should have roots hanging from the top, and Mesa caves should be made of clay.
Desert caves would be made of sandstone. Of course though, caves made of stone would still be a thing, and be the most common. I made a post on something called Cave Fog, I can't explain it, but the post is here.
Caves are a big thing in Minecraft, Mine is the first of two words in the name Minecraft. Everyone wants major cave updates, underground biomes, etc...
I think we should start off subtle, small updates at a time to improve caves. With Cave Fog, you will forget about it after a while, but if they added it and you got used to it, removing it would be weird, well that's what Mojang did the first time with it, so let's get it back in. This would also make caves "scary", like when we first played minecraft and were noobs.
When you first enter a cave, the fog won't be there, or barely there at all, but the more you stay in the cave, and the closer you get to bedrock, the fock will start to overtake the surrounding area. It won't completley obscure your screen, but it will be hard to see after a while. If you're near bedrock, void particles will start to appear in the fog, and it will start to turn black instead of grey, as if void is seeping through cracks into the cave. Dropoffs will have fog stopping you from seeing at the bottom, and you will need to throw a Lantern (in the new update) down the hole to clear it away and see the bottom more clearly, This would also mean Lanterns would have to generate light when holding them. Lanterns seem more suitable for throwing down a cave, but if you guys want Torches, those would work aswell.
Of course the Stained Glass would be replaced by Cave Fog, I just needed something to look like fog.
The most intense form of Cave Fog at Bedrock level.
Cave Fog at medium to high in a Ravine.
As a last note Night Vision Potions would stop you from seeing the fog, and when the effect ends, the fog would be pushed farther back and have to reach you again. All light source blocks will work on the fog, and if there's fog inbetween you and the light source, you will see some of the fog start to glow a faint yellow (or orange, or white if it's a Sea Lantern). In case people people were to ever do so, as people build cool caves sometimes, Giant Mushrooms could be resistent to the fog, or hold them back. Like Light Sources, the Giant Mushrooms will also change the color of the fog if it's in the way.
For those of you who are making maps, or just want to build underground without fog, there would be a gamerule. The gamerule would be set to true by default. To turn it off.
/gamerule CaveFog false
If it's off, and you want to get it back, simply do.
I rally like the idea of Course Dirt, Grass and Dirt slabs and stairs. I've been making a map in a void world about floating islands and this would help me soooo much. I think we should also have slabs and stairs for Podzol and Mycelium aswell, and Grass Path.
Minecraft isn't realistic. It has Mycelium covering the floor of an entire biome, zombies, 9 meter mushrooms, 2 meter flowers, alchemy, floating islands, hell, and a ton more. Although I do think there should be more magic. I really enjoy playing with magic mods like Thaumcraft and Botania. Maybe.
I really like this idea, and although I don't think terrain generation should be too insane, this is possible. I could send oh some screenshots adding on to this, and I really think you should get the word around, we the community could make this possible.
Think back to Alpha, Beta, early relese. The real Minecraft. Remember the old grass, trees, no hunger, no commands, Minecraft was a game enjoyed by all, and it was still alive. Remember the memorys, the community, the old builds, the old players, the old layout. Remember when you could build anything you wanted, the only thing holding you back was your imagination, there was no rules, no tutorial, you learned on your own, the only thing holding you back now is Minecoins. Remember when all of the servers were filled up, and the only thing on Youtube is minecraft. When Notch left the team and sold it to Microsoft, everything changed. Think back to when Minecraft was first launched, remember how happy everyone was, go back and look at the smile on Notch's face in that video. He was happy with the game, we were happy, now he doesn't care, he left and he's never coming back, people don't understand that when Notch was in charge, the game was better, more simplistic, and that's what we liked about it. When Microsoft took over they manipulated the game, they turned it from a community to a product, and it makes me sick. Please Microsoft, Mojang, all of you, stop trying so hard, stop only directing the game to kids, direct it to everyone. And in my opinion, the worst update ever was when they took away the Alpha soundtrack. Now I know Mojang and Microsoft won't read this, they won't even come on the forums, they don't care about us. Remember when maps and texture packs were free. I remember Minecraft once even made of micro-transactions with the minecraft store on April 1, and now look where we are. We miss you old Minecraft, we really do. And those of you who say to just set the launcher back to Alpha or Beta or an early update, you obviously just don't get it do you, it's not just about the old updates, it's about the old community.

You're on Java right. Set the flat world biome to void and build some floating islands.

Arn't you the same guy who asked how to get Java and called us Wipper Snappers?
