I've figured it out. We're still running versions of OSX earlier than Yosemite. (I am at least) and that is why the new one does not work. You can download the legacy version here.
When I try to log in to minecraft, it says that it cannot connect to minecraft.net. I have already allowed it as an exception in my firewall, and have even tried turning off my firewall. This problem has been happening ever since I downloaded the newest launcher. It worked with the old one. I have Java 8 update 40 and a Mac OSX 32x64 bit.
I happened to go with Omgserv, but they are not quite up to par. As soon as my subscription expires, I will review all of your offers. Thank you for your responses!
Hello, I'm looking to switch to a newer, faster, and cheaper host. My current server is running on 4gb of RAM, fairly fast, but we want to expand and get some donors. If there are any hosting services out there that can beat that price, I would be very happy.
Villager must be capitalized, this rule applies to anything you want to summon, must be capitalized. Also applies in command blocks.
In 1.8, numbers for the /give command have been disabled. It now must be minecraft:<item name>
In creative mode, you can simply search from your inventory. If your son has access to these commands, he should be able to change into creative mode with /gamemode 1.

If you're looking for a dev that can actually create plugins, I suggest posting to spigotmc.com.

Bayside, you should just run a command line shell using ssh. It's the fastest. If you don't know enough to run that, I suggest Multicraft.
This is my opinion and advice.

McHost,
My previous host was very fast and I had no lag. Thank you for your response.

Bump. This is really important to me and I can see that others are having the same problem.

Has anything changed with your computer? They age, and over time get slower. If your bandwith changed as well, that might have affected it.
Lol, thanks.
EDIT: You can always continue playing older versions. That's an amazing amount of FPS. The dude before was probably right though, the renderer.

If anything has been changed, there is a possibility that less memory is allocated to minecraft. Check this out: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forums/support/unmodified-minecraft-client/tutorials-and-faqs/1871637-tutorial-allocate-more-memory-for-minecraft

To turn it on: /gamerule <gamerule> true
To turn it off: /gamerule <gamerule> false
In your case, gamerule is doMobSpawning.

Muscular_Gnome, there's no way around it. Your computer simply does not have enough power to run it;
