posted a message on Simple Pipes: A reasonable, balanced alternative to minecarts [Image Album]
I support, minus the ice. But since it's basically redstone, but transport and in all directions, you oughta also have pipes that zigzag in one spot, delaying it a bit, like a repeater.. There wouldn't be much point, but perhaps for adventure maps where an item doesn't get to you until a certain amount of time.

Why do animals reproduce instantly? Why does armor not weigh you down? Why do you starve to death after running for 5 minutes? It's not all about realism, it's about variety to add new possible things.

Just a few ideas I thought of about spiders. The first one, eating a Spider Eye will poison you as usual, but you will gain "Arachnid Affinity" for 1 minute, making spiders not attack you. This would also work with a spider mask, which would drop very rarely from spiders. Also now, you would be able to saddle spiders and ride them, but you have to tame them first. Spiders eat bugs, so what you could do is catch silver fish (Yes, catch, with a fishing pole or a net or something, the net could be 3 sticks and 4 string), and give it to it. Then that spider would not attack you (BUT IT WILL ATTACK OTHERS!). Another minor suggestion would be, if you use a mob egg on a saddled spider or pig, that mob will mount it. If the idea of catching silverfish is kept, then you could use it similar to a carrot on a stick, but on a spider.

These are a lot of clumped together suggestions, but they'd add a lot of new variety. Imagine riding a spider into battle, sword in hand, with you swinging and the spider attacking. If nets are added, they could be used for other things, such as (if it's looks like a fishing net) fishing for a variety of fish or (if it looks like a butterfly net) catching bugs/ butterflies.

    Thoughts? Support or Not?

I'd want flintlock pistols, but they have to consume both a bullet AND a gunpowder for each shot. If that's possible, then muskets too. Maybe add a bayonet on to them to give them some melee damage as well, about half a heart more than a stone sword.

NO! No dark matter unless they add Nibblonians and spaceships. Also, rename the Nether to "Robot Hell" and have it be full of robots.

You can push Chest Minecarts, why not chests/hoppers?

    Edit: Kaiser is awesome

Self explanatory. Being able to push Hoppers would add a lot of new features.

I don't know if you know this, but if you put a comparator at a piston (facing it), it will always make it detect a block update if one happens. It's a lot more compact BUD.

posted a message on Hoppers working with Crafting Tables
I was thinking. Hoppers work with chests, furnace, etc. So why not crafting benches? You're probably thinking: Because it's in a grid, stupid! Well, my solution below fixes that. It's very messy, but it would work. Alternatively, there could be some sort of Special Hopper with a grid, that sends things down in that order.

The 3x3 gird above the Crafting table is where the ingredients go, in order. There's chests with hoppers leading to each of them. I tried to color-code it to make it look like it makes a bit more sense. It doesn't. Thoughts?

posted a message on General Redstone Improvements
I've been messing around with the new snapshots, and I've made a few things (one being a way to transpot items upwards with hoppers and dispensers, although this could also be done with storage minecarts and hoppers). I've noticed or thought of a few things that could be imrproved.
We're aware of how comparators output a redstone signal if next to a container, the more items the higher the signal. Well, this currently doesn't apply to storage minecarts, which are becoming more useful. It would be a simple thing to add, and give new possibilities.
My next suggestion: Weighted Detector Rails. This would also help with storage minecarts, since if you made an item transport system, and you had it stop at a certain area to unload items, you could make it go just as it empties. There'd probably be a gold and an iron one, just like regular ones, one light and one heavy.
My next suggestion: Vacuum blocks. These would suck in items (and for fun, small mobs like slimes or chickens), and would send items through a tube, out its backside. Similar to a hopper, but more proximity-based, so you don't have to have a bunch of hoppers in a large area. Perhaps you could also adjust the suction strength by Right clicking it.
My next suggestion: Dispenser Minecarts. These would add another use to the activator rail, and would, after driving over an activator rail, dispense items at its sides. This would be great for either dropping handy items onto the battlefield for you and your allies, or launching arrows at your opponents! The dispenser minecart would also know if there's a block to its side, so if it dispenses while there's a wall at its side, it won't dispense on that side, to save items. (and yes, I'm aware dinnerbone posted a picture of it on twitter. This would just be a variation of it, or possibly having 2 different kinds of it)
My next suggestion: Blades Minecarts OR being run over by a minecart hurts you. You'd think being hit by a hundred pounds of iron moving at several meters per second would hurt you, but no. You just stop it, and send it backwards slightly. So my last suggestion is to either change the mechanics of minecarts to hurt you when they hit you, the higher the speed the higher the damage, or to add bladed minecarts, which do damage when touched, and do even more if they run you over.

Edit: I forgot something, I also wanted to suggest having more orientations for buttons and dispensers. Having them on floors and ceilings would be an interesting idea.

posted a message on Fuses (and planting other dusts)
I thought of an idea today, which is really simple, but really easy: Fuses! Fire is very wild, but with fuses, it's more well controlled. Fuses would have their own block (likely made of string or wool). While thinking of this idea, i thought of another idea: Planting other dusts! We can only plant redstone right now, but wouldn't you like to plant gunpowder, glowstone, and sugar? Here's my ideas for uses with them:
Gunpowder: Lead a fuse up to it, and boom! Like TNT, but weaker and instant. (of course you can still lead a fuse up to tnt)
Glowstone: Self Explanatory, gives off a little light, and can be planted on a floor.
Sugar: This one took some thinking. But since we have dragons identical villagers, why not. Did you know monsters like sugar? Need I say more?

    Thoughts?

posted a message on Dipping arrows in potions + Filling cauldrons/buckets with potions
I didn't mean they lose the effect over time. I mean when you dip them in the potion, they are less potent on the arrow and don't last as long. But still, since splash potions have AOE damage, the time could stay the same.
