GR-7 Security DivisionHello Professor Tagonist.
Begin Orders Transmission
You are being sent to the mining station beyond Tarsus 3 to locate and apprehend wanted criminal Dr. Earl S. Testudine. Due to the nature of his crimes he is considered armed and dangerous, and any force you deem necessary may be used against him.
The mining station is sparsely populated and only capable of supporting a few conscious workers at a time. If Testudine is not awake when you arrive, enter cryogenic stasis until he is next scheduled to awaken.
Your operative contact in the region is Captain Schmidt, he will coordinate with you on this and have further instructions.
Deep Space Turtle Chase is an adventure and puzzle game that uses Minecraft’s engine as a creative “blank slate” -- members and friends of The Voxel Box have spent more than three months shaping it into something extraordinary, and we think you’ll agree... it was totally worth the wait!
The map is available for both single player and online co-op with up to four players. You’re able to fully explore the entire space setting, solve challenging puzzles set throughout space, and experience some of the finest Minecraft architecture you’ve ever seen.
Here’s a sneak peek:
What started as a cool idea from CaptainSparklez for a space themed Minecraft adventure map using our original Deep Space texture pack has evolved into a whole ‘nother beast. Using the client mod MAtmos the game now has evented music and sounds, taking it to a new level of immersion with an awesomely spacey ambiance.
Combine that with an all-star cast of Minecraft geeks doing voice narration, customized soundscapes that will take you into orbit, PhD-level redstone engineering, and the collective talent of artists that call The Voxel Box home — and you’ve got something that isn’t just an adventure map.
It’s something special, and to experience it as intended you can’t just download it and stick it in your Minecraft folder. We’ve made it super easy to get up and running though!
You’re just eight simple steps away from a painless game install:
1) Backup your Minecraft data folder!
2) Download the latest version here and extract the folder somewhere.
3) Also download MCNostalgia and extract to the folder.
4) Open Minecraft, go to options, then force update to get a clean Minecraft.jar
5) Following the steps on the MCNostagia page Downgrade your minecraft version to Minecraft Beta 1.8.1.
6) Use the .exe (for windows) or .jar (for linux/mac) in the Deep Space Turtle Chase installer to modify your client
7) Open Minecraft again, select the Deep Space Turtle Chase texture pack
8) Go to Single Player, select the map, and enjoy!
Keep in mind that the map is designed to be a true adventure game!
You will need to be alert and observant of your surroundings and be prepared to explore the vastness of space and alien worlds to progress. If you're expecting "do this look at that now do this" style gameplay, you're going to be disappointed and probably won't enjoy Deep Space Turtle Chase very much.
If you've got a good eye for detail, an eager and curious inner explorer, aren't afraid of challenging puzzles and pitfalls (and the greater sense of accomplishment conquering them gives you), and you have a sense of humor -- this map will probably be the most fun you've had with Minecraft in a long time.
What are the rules?Set your difficulty to Peaceful, don't destroy or place anything but the green Power Plugs (redstone torches)... and remember your training!
GR-7 Security Division
Good luck, and have fun!
Update 10/18: We released DSTC v1.2 last night with a few changes, Among them:
All beds are now working as intended! (Some beds are broken in the ares on purpose, this is not a bug.)
Turrets outside the digsite will now arm when master unlock code is entered
and I fixed the lava-run tube and lava-jump course underground to be less rage-inducing!
Update 10/17: We released DSTC v1.1 last night, tons of bugs have been squashed. If you're still having trouble after downloading the new version, please let us know.
The crash on game start bug may be caused by Minecraft freaking out about player position being inside a block. It doesn't happen for everyone, and doesn't happen if you stay still until the cryopod melts and releases you.
All issues with custom sounds for Mac clients should be resolved now. Please make sure you're using the latest version (the installer now works for all platforms).
If you still can't play, this may work (thanks yiker!):
When you force updates in Minecraft, the Soundfiles aren't extracted at first, you have to trigger them once, until they can be found in your .minecraft/resources Folder. If they aren't triggered and you run the installer, triggering a sound will let Minecraft try to extract a sound, which probably interferes with the mods and lets it crash.
To prevent this, after forcing an update in Minecraft you have to run around in any normal vanilla map and trigger all the different sounds, for walking on different materials swimming etc. After that, you can run the installer and it will not crash.
Crashed while trying to play this on your hacked, unpaid client? That's too bad.
If all else fails, you can download the vanilla DSTC package and extract the world file and texture pack into your Minecraft folder. It's way better with the mods, though!
If you really must play DSTC using a 1.0.0 or 1.1 client use this updated vanilla version: Deep Space Turtle Chase Vanilla v1.2.1.

are you on crack? Staff will always be > Regular noobs.
I feel I should respond to this. Yes, we as admins have more access to commands and can at will remove people from the server and so on. However, on this server, we don't abuse our powers. We won't give people free items, as that makes things unfair. But nor will we remove people without reason. In fact, I personally have revoked mutes on certain players, unless it comes to a point that a pick or a ban is the only thing that can be done.
Apart from that we just hang around the server like any others. I'd be the more stand offish of the three, and spend my time building structures and the likes unless I need to go help someone repair damage to a house that was done outside of the server rules, or to tp someone to someone else. Honey and Kraze will mix with others.
Yes, we have more complete power, but we don't abuse it. Hence we're not much different from the normal player, unless it is demanded of us.
Kraze, I won't be on the server for a while..but if those classes need help building a "hometown" of sorts, then I am willing to help...provided I have the time and aren't working on another project.
Dec 15, 2011Those that do stick around the server and prove they aren't running with the "riff-raff" do get ranked up to have more permissions and access to other things on the server. We don't abuse the power we have, we make sure it's not that kind of server. Speaking of which we're still looking for a couple mods to help us run the server. There's plenty to do on the server, from shops, towny, creative builds. We're really focusing on those creative builders right now, anyone that can build big amazing things, you red stone wizards, people that like to build for the community and with others. Unlike some servers we listen to our players and what they want to see change, the staff aren't the only ones with a voice here. So come in and give us a shot we'd be glad to have you.Posted in: PC Servers
Nov 9, 2011I'm starting up another server and taking 2 to 3 people before making it public to get it started. The current project would be setting up the spawn city and the members I accept will have access to spawn items to help build up the city. Just fill out the short app and pictures of some of your creations is a must. It will be whitelisted until it goes public. Please no younger than 16 years old as this will be a more mature server.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
Have you ever been staff on another server?:
Why do you want to join?:

Nov 9, 2011I find it funny you claim to have a lot of experience, yet you only joined Minecraft Forums a month ago? Instead of just saying what you were (admin, mod etc) show proof, and give references. Anyone can say they are king of the world, but proving it is another thing.Posted in: Starting Up / Looking For Server
Nov 9, 2011Lol, trying to get OPed on a server without any real effort. "Experienced Server Runner" ? You mean owner or co-owner? Do you have any experience with plugins and permissions? If given FTP access could you fix up files? And what servers have you been Admin/Mod on? I would like to see references and links. Any pictures of your recent creations would help to.Posted in: Minecraft Survival Servers (archive)
In short, you need more info. I myself am looking for admins and maybe a co-owner. But by the looks of your uninformative topic you are just saying you have experience to get "cool commands" and to mess around with admin powers.

Figured i'd give a update, Built a mod fall grinder (right) and now I have more rotten meat then i know what to do with.
Finished off my central park place thing (middle).. Reed, Melon, and pumpkin farm. (Still need to find a place for my cacti and wheat farms...}
Got my first sheep and pig :tongue.gif:
I started to build my house(left) with wool, but take is taking forever making it from spider string u.u So in the mean time I decided to build a lake (top). Still a lot of water needs to be put in but i'll do that tomorrow :tongue.gif:
The lake is 50x50 for the water, 58x58 with the border. It has 16 steps inside it, with a flat space in the center/bottom which i'll use.. eventually.
And for those who can't tell by the pic, the lake and park area are lined with mushrooms :tongue.gif: And all the walkways are covered.

Difficulty: Easy [Average] Hard Very Hard Impossible
I had a lot of fun playing this map; it was original in setup because you had to jump out of a plane before the game actually started and how you got it to blow up after a certain amount of time is really well done.
Aside surviving the goals of raiding the dungeons and exploring the caves there were some new elements to a custom survival map I haven't seen before and some well placed pressure plates will catch you off guard. The main goal is essentially to light up the cave network and neutralise the dungeons spawner cage threat.
Finishing this map isn't out of the question, some patience and planning will get you through in 1-2 days play through, if you ignore a lot of the objectives like I did you'll finish even faster. Once you finish certain sections of the caves off you think you're done however, but you eventually find the tomb and can complete all cave objectives.
Adding the Nether to the game was good but it ultimately didn't serve a purpose to me - I might have missed something there but I didn't find anything of real interest after digging around for 30 minutes. I eventually turned it onto peaceful because I hate the sounds Ghasts make. I finished the game without completing all of the objectives and cheating on some but who cares.
Overall, it was a fantastic play through and if you watch my series on it I would really appreciate it!
Suggestions (warning spoilers):
Remove 90% of the arrows from the dispensers, I got a full stack from the two and once I constructed a bow arrows weren’t a problem, I had no real use for TNT either so the whole purpose of building a mob trap just felt too time consuming for me so I didn’t bother in the end.
Remove all lava or remove buckets/iron from the map. As you’ll see in my series using lava buckets really eased the play through and I could focus more of my coal resources to smelt iron rather than to make more torches as lava lights up the area.
Add a few more traps in, I don’t know how you would be able to but there aren’t any traps after the first section of the map that I could see or fell for. A few TNT blocks with pressure plates could cause some havoc!
Do something that’s difficult yet semi-obvious to find in the Nether. Either a dungeon as part of the 1.9 update where the Nether gets dungeons now or if you wanted to expand your series which by all means you should and try out other styles of maps you should build a portal that takes you to a new area where you have a sign that says you can go to the next part of the series in which, you’d start at the same point except the portal isn’t turned on. Just an idea!
