THANK YOU. This makes Worldedit so much better for mapmakers. No wonder the areas in your map looked so "dope" (as the kids say). Any tips you can offer right off the bat?

Tips?... hmm. Just learn how to use all of the tools in the toolkit I linked, and use them every 5 seconds or so. The areas you make aren't guaranteed to look cool, but you're guaranteed to have fun. :D

I have a quick question. I'm trying to build a swamp for a map, and I want vines. Is there an up to date tool for placing large amounts of vines and growing them all? Thanks in advance.

    http://www.planetminecraft.com/mod/terraforming-toolkit/

Honestly, this thing is awesome. Grow large swaths of vines with custom sizes, lengths, thickness, materials... plenty of other useful things too. This is my #1 tool as a mapmaker, honestly. It is insaaaanely awesome.

Also, it DOES work for 1.4.2, although it says it only works for 1.3.1. Download this, all of you, you'll thank me later. ;)

Aaaaaaand v2.0 of Humble Beginnings is out!

Honestly, I didn't fix as much as I wanted to, but at least I changed the ugly lava in the Lava Vault to redstone lamps that are on, I made CMC and Generic Mines a bit less max-spawny, and I added some rail chests. Also took out the diamond over spawn that was giving people troubles, and did a lot of other, smaller changes.

Hope you all like it! People who were on the fence about downloading before, it's a lot more balanced now.

Now time to get back to work on Lush Skies!

Yeah, I suppose torch placement works as a way to guide yourself. However, I mostly view it as a lighting method.

I may add some more things about guiding yourself later though, that seems to be a popular subject.

    For where the beacon is:
grrrrrr...that's SUCH an irritating spot! Just being honest, but nobody's going to find that, it'll just be an unsolvable mystery. (unless they look at that spoiler you have up there :P )

Yuush, all of the bonus blocks are meant to be absolutely unfair and unfindable. But if you do find that block while renovating the Bonus Block room or somethin', you'll feel insanely stupid. Which is what I'm trying to get you to feel. <:-D

Wow, wonderful first post BloodyPhoenix! I appreciated all of your insightful commentary. :)

I read through it a little while ago and then went and did something else, so I don't remember all of it. However, I think the only question you had for me was that you couldn't find the other bonus blocks.

The obsidian is hidden at Intersection 2, the bedrock is in the soulsand tunnel caves between Graves of the Sezalb main part and the other cavern. Aaaaand the beacon is totally unfair and you'll facepalm when you hear this-- the beacon is placed one block under the pedestal where it's supposed to go. Yeah, I know.

Aaaaaand I just realized I forgot to put in the End Portal block. -_- Yet another thing to be fixed in 2.0.

I think that most of your critiscms will probably fixed in version 2.0 of this map. There's going to be a lot of aesthetic changes (and I'm going to make the black wool more creative and harder) in 2.0, and I think a lot of the problems you found will be solved. :)

Thanks for giving such an extensive review and for playing my map!

Oh, there's a couple references (like to Super Mario 64 [Crazy Maze Cave]), but if I'm understanding you correctly and you're wondering why items don't have names on them, WorldEdit wasn't updated to 1.4 when I made Humble Beginnings, so the map was made in 1.3. Thus, I had no Anvils to rename things with.

    P-p-p-p-page get!

Meant to ask, as well, Isaac, how do you feel about including Easter Eggs and named items in your maps? Didn't see much along those lines in Humble Beginnings.

Whuddaya mean by Easter Eggs? If you mean hidden items, there are a couple, but there'll probably be moar in Lush Skies.

As for named items... waaaat? You think I didn't put in that many? I thought I had put in too many... nearly every chest in Humble Beginnings has a piece of sand on it, and many of the chests have just one item in it, so I named the item something. I probably have more named items than most CTM maps do. How far are you into the map? You might not have discovered many named items yet if you're just at I1. :3

Great job, this will come in handy. It's very in depth, which I like!

In-depth is what I am too much of. ;)

Also, for everyone following this thread: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1578721-guide-caving-in-minecraft/ There's mah new Minecraft guide! Go check it out and support it! Perhaps we'll get it as popular as this first guide!

XK_Legendary, it's a network of free servers that run PVP maps around the clock. They're very successful, and a lot of people play on them.

And Eeriewolf, I was only kidding about all o' dat. I love his videos just as much as the next guy. :P

    Ugly as hell.

End stone is a terrible block to use in clusters unless you have a black background with it, and the glowstone only amplifies the yellow a million times over. It's small, unwelcome and fugly.

I like to be called a regular!

Mainly because I read and pay attention to the past 11 months of crap.

You sir, are the complete opposite.

Urf, somebody woke up on the wrong side of the bed today.

If you think his intersection looks like crap, put it a bit more kindly so that he's not discouraged from mapmaking forever. ;)

And what's all this about being a regular? :C... I'm not trying to turn it into a Regular Competition or anything. I never even said anything about being a regular in my post... and, just so you know, I have read every single page of this thread, and I read it every day. I just don't post unless I feel like there's something I really have to say.

What's the point of playing CTM maps in creative? It literally removes every single challenging or even remotely fun part of the map...
Mobs don't see you, you're invincible, you can fly, you have literally any block in the game at your disposal...
Heck, you might as well just take the wool out of the creative inventory.
I'm not criticizing how you do things, but it just seems a bit strange.
Have you tried playing one in Survival? IMO, it's a lot more fun.

    Shhh--he was joking.
