posted a message on Looking For A Guide Book

    Summary:

Malware is only an issue if you go through the play store to get your mods.

Mods are NOT hard to install. My kids are 6 and 7, they can both install them without issue.

If you use MCPE Master, with one click, you can install and use mods.

As a parent, I can tell you that any general book on Minecraft will be fine. If you are looking for one on mods, you will be out of luck. However, most mods have great write-ups that you and your child can read and learn about the mod. For instance, any of my Super Something Something 2000 mods will explain how to use the mod, the item ids (for anyone that wants to cheat them in), as well as for my more complex mods, I put a video tutorial together that SHOWS how to use the mod.

There are 3 programs that allow you to MOD Minecraft. Block Launcher, MCPE Master, Toolbox (by MrArm). Those 3 are available from the play store and are malware free. They are the tool you need to use to inject the mod into the game.

As for what TheUnpaidIntern said, if you install the mods using something like MCPE Master (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.groundhog.mcpemaster) in the play store, there is less of a chance of malware, personally I would say 0%, however I cannot obviously say that! Probably 99%+ of the malware comes from the installers that are on the play store, not the mods themselves. Also, those same poor installers typically use mods WITHOUT permission of the authors (ask me how I know), so they use the content created to bait people to install their malware. There are good installers, there are good relationships, but more often I would say that is not the case.

Aside from mods, MCPE Master also allows EASY install of skins, maps, and in general news of what is going on with stuff.

Even without the MCPE Master program, I do not think they are hard to install. I would guide you to MCPEDL.com. I know the webmaster. He is a really great guy and he tests EVERYTHING that goes on that site. You can rest assured that there is no malware in there. he has a really high quality level that a mod / map / etc. must meet. If he cannot get the mod to work, he will generally contact the author to figure out why. Then he will NOTE it on the description page for the mod.

He also has some good guides on HOW to install and work with everything on the site (mods, maps, add-ons, etc.). For instance, here are the Android instructions for working with Offical (unmodded Monecraft) Add-Ons, mods (using Block Launcher) - as well as Video Guides at the very end.

    http://mcpedl.com/how-to-install-minecraft-pe-mods-for-android/

So, if you are worried about malware, mcpedl.com or even directly from this forum. The authors more often than not are willing to assist as most of us are NOT doing this for money. We are doing it as we feel the mod we make gives a unique twist to the game and we want everyone to have fun! Personally, it is how I connect to my kids. We make the mods together. Then I polish them up and release them for public consumption.

If you do twitter, you can contact most of the authors or even the webmaster for mcpedl.com.

There are also MANY good YouTubers that have instructional videos as well as good reviews of most of the higher quality / catchier mods. FOr instance, for MODS, Fuziondroid is a great YouTuber. He does a LOT of mod reviews.

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnPf9f-yQidQA6ByWVkbHVw

http://www.fuziondroid.com/ (although that does not look updated in a while)

Here are two of his videos, one on how to install mods using Block Launcher, the other installing Add-Ons.

Here is a review he did on a mod I made:

(over 18K views as of this point in time)

I'm also not sure most track downloads, but I know quite a few of my mods have over 4000 downloads worldwide. I think I've only had 3-4 people have issues with the mods. To me, that means that these are pretty easy to download and use.

If you have more questions, please ask. I'll subscribe to this thread and I'll get notified. I hope I've been helpful!

    Super Colored Lighting 2000

Have you ever wanted to have colored lights? Or have Glowstone distributed around your base, but have it BLEND into the grass? Do not want to give up NEW Block IDS, or want to have REDSTONE powered lamps still TOGGLE?

    More chatter / ideas:

Have you wanted to have a BLACK lamp that blends in with a dark wall? Keeping that DARK look to the room! Yet Provide light so that mobs do not spawn in?

How about something that creates a GREAT picture on the FRONT of your castle (one lamp per "pixel")? Or lamps that blend in with the colors of your castle?

What about using an colored lamps to light an underground farm? Use ORANGE to show carrots in an area, use dark green for Cactus, Yellow for Wheat. Your imagination is your limit!

Now you can! This mod adds 14 colored Glowstone and 14 colored Redstone Lamps into the game! You can toggle the Redstone lamps WITH Redstone!!

    Crafting:

All crafting / rules / chance (fortune) have been added in. Normal recipes are used to get the original blocks. Then, you can color them using that block with DYE!

I did NOT add a GREY dyed lamp/glowstone. The BLACK and Light Grey seemed to cover that. By giving up 1 color, I was able to keep the SAME Original Light and BLOCK IDs. That is right, this mod does NOT use any extra Block IDs and should not interfere with ANY other mod you are using!!

    lol343,

That is true, but have you looked at the ID list? It has not changed in a long time. AFAIK, the only thing that changes is adding new things. Even the Nether Reactor is still in there! The main thing that seems to have goofed up most mods - the Observer took over a favorite block id.

If you do know of something I missed (I am human after all...I think...), please let me know.

Thanks for checking out my mod!

DungeonRealmsMobile, thanks for the support! That keeps me working!

As of this post, my new mods are going to be slow. I've been busy in life and have been working on 2 Epic sized mods. They are taking a LOT of my time. I also have 1 normal sized mod and 3 small ones that I have in the works.

I also still want to re-work Super Door Operator 2000, since the MAJOR purpose that it had is now gone (Pistons are available!). Especially the engine that I made has use for certain, but I think that some of the features I added need to be split off into their own mods. For example there is some semi-automated farming in there. That should be split off. I also want to add in Redstone triggering.

Anyway, I wanted to post that EagleREX has created a similar mod and I thought it might be neat for anyone interested in this mod to check his mod out. His colored Glowstone has 1/2 slabs! How creative!

posted a message on {NO LONGER SUPPORTED, PLEASE CHECK UPDATED LINK IN TOP POST} Clear Glass Connected Textures [32x]

    Hi there,

Can I port this to MCPE for use in my mod (assuming I follow your rules)? I do not think we can use 32x32, so I will have to resize/redraw the textures to make them 16x16 as well as rename the files to add a _0 to them.

I would keep your name on the assets as well as your texture pack.png, I would then only need to add to the text you already have in the pack.mcdata to say "ported by Ironhead65"

    Thanks!

No updates needed, I tested most of the functionality and it seems to be AOK! Let me know if you see something that does not work for you!

I still have intention to add Redstone in this. Kind of like a wireless Redstone trigger.

I'm holding off because I have ~5 Mods in the works right now, and I am thinking of breaking this one up and move around some of this mod's functionality into one of my other mods.

With the release of 0.13, Redstone is indeed in there. I have plans to change this mod to react to redstone signals. I'm not sure exactly what I am going to do - but I do like how this mod does NOT use anything but vanilla Minecraft stuff, which makes it SUPER compatible with other mods out there.

I'll keep everyone posted as things develop, especially the drawbridge part! I was getting close, but a few things took a turn and I have not had time to get back to it. The same with my other two mods. I got them working enough to show a canned video but there are a LOT of details that need to be worked out. Anyway, I'll keep you all up to date and thanks to everyone who uses my mods! I really appreciate it!

posted a message on hxRedStone MCPE 0.11.1+

All, with the release of 0.13, Redstone IS indeed in there. I cannot see spending time to update this any longer, however we will see what comes from 0.13. The first release does not have pistons, but does have activator rails, detector rails and powered rails - all working as in PC. Same with levers, many pressure plates, buttons and proper levers. There is some buggieness, but really, it is only the FIRST release.

If you have created anything with this mod, the machines SHOULD port - and at some point when pistons are added your existing machines SHOULD work reasonably well. As I stated before, the HOPE was to make this so that with VERY minimal effort, you can use your existing Redstone creations with the REAL released Redstone.

A side note, I've been coordinating with a few other modders and hope that this will turn into something more - however only time will tell how useful this becomes, if it even can.

I still have plans to implement Redstone functionality (triggering / powering) with my other mods (2 of which are not released as of this post).

Anyway, thank you to all that used this mod, especially my beta testers. They REALLY went out of their way to test everything they could! I am SUPER happy and lucky that the community really pulled together that much to help me get this out as best as it could in the time frame that I could!

Or, you could ask in a NICE way considering this did not COST you a dime. If you are having THAT much trouble and do not like it, go ahead and de-install it, then wait for 0.13 for Redstone.
