I was wondering if it's possible to have simple (pressure plate, couple restone, and TNT/piston/dispenser) traps generated with the world? I think this would give abandoned hallways a more dangerous feel. Maybe the mines can have a cave in trap? Have a bunch of gravel above a TNT block and fwoom. Nether can have boobytraps in the long hallways. Maybe a few blocks move and try to crush you, or pretend metal bars are spikes and pistons move them down on you.
On the plus side if the player spots a pressure plate in time, they can disarm/dismantle/gather the parts it was made of. This'd help with gathering TNT/pistons/dispensers, a pretty nice reward I think.
Or of course there's the 'make trap blocks' option :smile.gif:
what, cave spiders dropping on your head unexpectedly isn't adrenaline pumping enough for ya?
to comment on the OP, please use the search feature, this has been discussed before.
First, this idea is too overpowered.
Second, the mob spawner represents an idea, not a physical block that should be moved and used for your amusement.
Part of the progress of the game, for some people, is to find the monsters lair and destroy them, to loot their chests and their epic green cobblestone. An unintended side effect of having a physical spawner, unfortunately in my opinion, is that very creative people setup devices to poach or take advantage of these spawners in their natural habitat for loads of rare monster items, instead of hunting them the way the game was intended. If they can do this at the place that the spawner is naturally located, bravo for creativity. but to pick it up and move it to a secure location above ground inside a pre-created lion's pit in your pre-created castle is way more than unintended, in my opinion its downright defilement.
cow and/or animal spawners already exist. its called wheat.
usually I am all for ideas that are creative and give players choice, but this idea is neither creative nor additive in any beneficial way to enrich the gamer's experience.
ugh i hate to say it but with sheers and some creative planting, you can make all of the trees you see in the pictures in the game right now without any mods.
btw, i wish i had a screenshot, but i have run across trees that are almost as big as the one you posted in your 2nd picture in the game as-is. they are super rare, but they do exist.
once you go from "hey heres my cool idea" to "looking for modders", i think its time to asses the correct location for this thread to the modding forums.
I don't think it will go completely away. I mean, with features like the seed and FPS, things of that nature, those are things a lot of people like to see.
But, more on the topic of a Depth Meter. I wouldn't say its a bad idea, but if F3 is taken out, they aren't going to replace it with an item.
as for this post, how can you be sure? a depth meter seems like a pretty obvious slap-in-the-face kind of item to add if they are taking away F3. why not? do you have a source that says they wont add it? thats what these suggestion forums are for.
I LOVE THE IDEA!!! not just for underground though as it would be useful when in caves in high up mountain biomes.
the right word you're looking for OP is "altimeter".
Random enchantments is a terrible mechanic. Changing how the randomness work doesn't fix the root problem. The player should get a list of options with associated XP cost. My hope is that the first iteration of enchantment is just a proof of concept. Mojang wants to just get the magic out there and see how it goes. Hopefully the next release (the final one?) will have the enchantment system fully implemented.
i hope you're right. if not, i'll be posting ideas in here forever... >.<
speaking of ideas, how about when you build an enchantment table, the book is empty and you have to craft the pages which are the enchants. your current level when you craft a page becomes the level of the enchant you can use. to use a high level enchant, you must first attain a high level, then craft the pages.
here's an idea, how about planting flowers on the outside of the bookshelves so that the bookshelves get a nature bonus, increasing the chance for a higher level enchant to appear. the more flowers, the higher the %
thats not the problem as i've stated before. its the mindless clicking and staring at the same screen for hours on end with no result when there should be one.
to add to the ideas list for this mega-problem (if you have made it up to L50+ and are trying for a super high level enchant, you know exactly what im talking about) how about requiring the completion of some sort of puzzle or mind game to increase the enchant past *insert your level here*. you can go for a low level random number, but must win 3 lines of tetris or something stupid like that to increase your random numbers to jump up by 10 points.
i will not stop with suggestions, no matter how stupid they are, until this problem gets fixed.
Oke so after my post i went to wiki to read some more and i learned something.
Just like the guy here said the max is 49 and a 50 enchantment doesn't exist. So go ahead and click some more but a 50 enchantment needs to be modded in or made by notch first till you'll find one.
Okay, for arguments sake, lets say L49 is the highest enchant. In my OP I said that I saw this once in a two hour spam of clicking. That is not right no matter how you look at it.
I can understand having to dig for two straight hours in a monster infested mine to find a diamond, but just mindlessly clicking one mouse button and staring at the exact same screen? no no no... this can't possibly be what was intended.
I love KyoShinda's post of having different leveled groups. keeps it random but gives us a fighting chance.
Another idea - letting us craft enchants from materials. This is Minecraft. each enchant requires different materials to craft. I would even go so far as to say that I wouldn't mind if they were one time use enchants. So long as I have a say on what level enchant I want to use instead of this failed system of repeat spam clicking.
if my arm wasn't so sore from spam clicking over 3000 times over 2 hours and never once seeing a L50 enchant, and only seeing a L49 enchant once, i'd go make steve commit suicide.
making the enchants pull up 3 random numbers (not really random) = worst..... idea........ ever.........
im going to bed with the satisfaction knowing i threw my new diamond pickaxe into lava.
exploding to death, drowning, death by arrows, falling in lava, but no beer? come on, don't be hypocrites.
yes, just yes, yes, and more yes. beer please. im guessing everyone in previous posts means keep it 'G'. and if thats what you meant, sorry to disappoint but 'violent and gruesome death' as described above made this game waaay beyond a G or even PG rating...
some of us are of legal drinking age. in fact, if you look at the statistics, the majority of gamers in America are above the drinking age. want a source? read and weep. ESA you'll be interested in item #4

Yeah, I figured... Was just being hopeful. I agree that they should make it a lot easier and not random. I watched one of my favorite YouTube guys suffer through 30 minutes of spam clicking to settle with a L45 enchant.
thats.... just wrong and sad >.<
this can be fixed so easily. none of the enchantment math needs to be messed with, just .... anything that keeps the spam clicking to a minimum.
it seems like its going to take longer to get the enchant to come up than it was to get to this level
does this mean that those with 1.9 pre 4 are safe to start a new server and it will auto update when official releases? or are there too many changes with the official release that a server admin would have to delete the server in a month and start over?
Elder Scrolls franchise went sour after Morrowind. I'm surprised Bethesda is still holding on to it so tightly :tongue.gif:
never played oblivion i see. its like night and day compared to morrowcrap.
publicity is publicity. negative or positive. zenimax is genius for tapping into the minecraft market to freely promote skyrim to 3+ million people a month before release.
if they could sue blizzard, they'd do it. and now would be the time.

i can only assume Teemo is a mod.
both of these posts violate the suggestions forum rules.
