Actually, the GWR 14xx 0-4-2 was not a bright green in its GWR livery, it was a deep green, and when it became British rail they repainted 14xx's in Brunswick green
I checked it out and it's pretty easy to setup. You need a peripheral proxy connected to the gate (e.g. base block), then the computer connected to the peripheral proxy. Then you use the wget command (linked in neo_kun666's post) to grab the program. I imagine you could use network cables to connect the computer to the peripheral proxy from further away, but I didn't try that.
As for RC1_25 - I believe that is 'expected' behavior in build 25. I get the impression that's not the 'final' behavior but that AfterLifeLochie is still working that out.
Regarding your edited comment: Build 22 can be wonky with stargate construction. Unfortunately the devs haven't fully ironed that out yet (as evidenced by the build 25 gates reverting with blocks in them).
Just tried using the opencomputers dhd, but I couldn't find a peripheral proxy block, so I tried using the adapter from the opencomputers add-on, but I couldn't even get the program to work on the computer.
FWIW, I do believe it is that build of LanteaCraft. I've had some strange issues that have required breaking and rebuilding a gate during testing of ccDHD in build 22 (and I've read a number of posts about issues similar to yours and mine in this thread).
The OpenComputers DHD program is pretty good, but I couldn't tell you how to move your gate data from ccDHD to ocDHD: I haven't looked at how it works or how it stores its data. If you don't have too many gates, and you want to make the jump, the change should be relatively painless, though.
If you prefer to wait, I'm watching the development of LanteaCraft very closely; when the next ComputerCraft compatible version of LanteaCraft is out, the next version of ccDHD (if necessary) won't be far behind.
I have seen the code for it, but how does it set up, does it need to be placed a certain part of the Stargate, and does anyone have image of the open computers dhd.
Also, I just tried upgrading to rc1 25 but now I can't put blocks in the middle, it just disassembled, so say I want to make a ramp for it like in Stargate command it just turns back into blocks, don't know if that's on purpose or just a bug.
Edit: I just tried it on a server with build 22, now the Stargate with the computer is fine when I turn the server of and on again, but all the other gates with proper dhd's disassemble.

a computer is used under it and I think this might be the issue but when I exit the world and reload it the stargate turns back into the blocks and wont turn back into the gate even when I try rebuilding it completely.

Maybe you should try not using MC patcher, I used to use it but then I went to do everything manually and it works way better and is more minecraft style professional.
