posted a message on help for a total beginner please

To play on those servers, you either need an older or newer version of Minecraft depending on the version that you are using now. Since you recently got it, the problem is probably that the server is out of date. The way that servers work is that all connected computers need to be running the same version of the game as the server. Try to change the version of the game in the launcher to a version between 1.4 and 1.8 and your problem should be fixed. The reason that the program crashes is because of the discrepancy between the versions. Your computer is running a newer version while the server is running an older one. Because of this, the system doesn't know what to do so it stops. Also, I think you posted this in the wrong section.

posted a message on Help with mob spawner(xp farm)

Yeah, that makes sense. The thing that is bamboozling us though, is that when we are not viewing it, the place that the mobs are supposed to spawn is completely dark, so mobs should spawn. What makes this even worse is that we have made sure multiple times that the game isn't on peaceful and yet no matter what, mobs still won't spawn. We have also taken extra care to light up pretty much everything near the spawner, including above and below. Everything about this is weird, no matter the way you look at it. What you mentioned about being possibly too close to the spawner is true but we go pretty much anywhere in the world and they still won't spawn. Thank you for taking the time to help me by the way.

Hmm, yeah, if you want to be productive in real life playing video games probably isn't the best answer. Maybe if you used it as a reward. For example: if you complete x number of tasks in real life then you allow yourself to play Minecraft for x amount of time or something like that.

Yeah, I agree. Setting motivation like that can really help.

I can only think of two things. Try restarting the iPad or delete and redownload Minecraft. If you delete the game, it will delete your world though so only do that if you don't care about the world. Other than that I have no idea.

I don't believe that there is a set release date for 1.15 on bedrock. Right now they are working on rolling out structure blocks and foxes.

A quick note here: the 'drop' really shouldn't be more than 22 blocks, as most mobs will be killed by the impact and you will not get XP for that. Also, the drop rate for items falls severely if you let them be killed off this way.

We are also short on details here. Are you using water to push the mobs into the drop, or possibly a piston mechanism? They won't intentionally fall down such a large gap, their pathfinding prevents them from doing that. The dimensions sound right, you only need a 2-block tall gap (prevents Enderjerks). Most mob grinders are only 18 blocks wide, using 2 8-block long 'channels' for water to push the mobs into the drop. What setup are you using?

We did a 20 by 20 grinder with two channels. We have 4 water channels that are two blocks lower than the platforms where the mobs spawn. We placed signs on the top block because mobs think signs are full blocks and they will try to walk on them and then fall into the water. The channels push the mobs into the pit. Let me know if that's confusing so I can reword it. Thanks for letting me know that the grinder was too high; I will lower it. I will also lower it from 3 bocks to two blocks. Is there anything else that I am conceivably doing wrong because even if it's too high for them to survive the drop, mobs should be inside the top part when we check it right?

I guess I feel that the reason we play Minecraft is to play. At the end of the day, what does it matter to be part of the community around Minecraft if you cant play Minecraft? I happened to start playing Minecraft PE in late 2011, right when the game came out. Unfortunately, the computer my family had at the time couldn't run the game so I was stuck playing on my iPad for the next four years. If there is a physical representation of my childhood, Minecraft is undoubtedly it. While it may have been missing a lot, it was still Minecraft.

posted a message on Help with mob spawner(xp farm)

So my friend and I wanted to build an XP farm. We built it 26 blocks off the ground and created a 20x20x2 space in the farm for mobs to spawn. Mobs didn't spawn so we increased the grid to a 20x20x3 and mobs still didn't spawn. I am inclined to believe that we are doing something wrong, however, I have no idea what.

Do you want to know how to get bad omen? Just go to a pillager outpost and kill a pillager with a banner. The next village you go to will be raided.

I don't think this is possible. The only thing I can recommend is to use a grindstone to disenchant the helmet and then use the xp gained from this to re-enchant the diamond helmet. Sorry I couldn't help more.
