Jul 2, 2013Not sure if anyone else has this problem, but ive recently been deposited straight into the void from Limbo twice, losing all my items. Not sure if its a bug, or an intended feature for wandering around Limbo too much?Posted in: Minecraft Mods

What other mods are you running, because in the current version, I am not having any issues with losing my items (if you die in a Pocket Dimension, you don't lose you Items.), so it must be another mod that you are playing with that is causing you to loss your items when you Die in a Pocket Dimension/Limbo. But, yeah, the mod already features you not losing items...
Hmm, I suspect its the death chest mod. My mistake, I didnt test properly before posting this. Ignore that suggestion then.

you know, in actual lore about Limbo, it is a place between Death or dimensions, where there is no "life" or "death". Things in Limbo are actually Non-existent, not actually taking up space or time, existing beyond all forms or Reality. As such if something where to "die" in Limbo, said thing would no longer exist in any shape or form. As such, if you want to make a mob that kills the player in Limbo, it would also have to be able to delete the actual save to be actual Limbo.
So, how about we DON'T add any mobs that can kill the player in Limbo, ok? ;P
Hmmm, alright then, but I still feel its too easy to get out of Limbo, The monoliths cant do anything to you as long as you keep running past all of them. Perhaps replace the monoliths with wandering lost souls which spawn everywhere, but spawn near portals or Fabric of Reality lakes at a much higher rate?
Time for some lore!
Lost souls are the souls of previous adventurers or explorers who, in carelessly exploring strange new dimensions, have fallen into Limbo. Lost for centuries, they still seek ways back to the normal world, thus gather around portals or pockets of Fabric of Reality, but in their time spent in Limbo, they've lost their minds and thus their 'link' to the normal world, and cannot go back. Whenever they sense a new soul in Limbo who is still linked to the normal world, they are drawn to it, in hopes of somehow regaining their link. However, since it is still linked to the real world, it cannot truly cease to exist, and thus merely appear somewhere else in Limbo when touched. This frequently leads to more souls getting lost and going insane, thus the number of lost souls are never ending. They each hold a single torch, the only thing they've managed to cling onto from their previous possessions, as its light provides comfort in their madness, as well as the dark world of Limbo. When killed, they truly cease to exist, leaving only their torch behind to provide a measure of comfort to the next soul, lost or not, that comes along.
Jul 1, 2013A suggestion, when the player is transported to limbo from a dim pocket because of dying, either from falling into the void or from traps, allow the player to keep his items. This way, when he does get out of limbo, there's motivation to get back to his base without dying. Right now, you come out of limbo itemless, so going back to your base is a simple matter of committing suicide and respawning, in which case limbo might as well throw you back out of the portal you first used to get to the dim pocket. A small penalty, however, is losing all your exp levels.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Also, adding hostile mobs to the dim pockets might be a good idea, thus forcing the player to be well-prepared before entering a dim pocket, giving death in Limbo or one out of it a heavy penalty. Perhaps some sort of arena pitfall trap, making the player fall into an arena of a sort, surrounded with cells occupied by different mobs, custom or vanilla. A lever/pressure plate opens all cells, one of which contains an exit, while the others are randomly filled with chests and/or misc furniture. The player could then choose to dash for the exit, or kill all mobs to access the chests and potentially useful furniture safely.
One last thing, perhaps you could add a hostile mob to Limbo as well? One, to make Limbo more than a simple task of dashing through it to avoid the Monoliths' gazes. Two, to give the player a way to actually die in Limbo. It is then up to the player to allow himself to retain their items or lose them when they die in Limbo, through the config. Perhaps a Lost Soul mob, the remains of the countless others who were trapped in Limbo and lost their minds. Same model as the player, jet black with ghostly red eyes. Slightly faster than the player.
Thats all I have! This is a really good mod, singlehandedly persuaded me to get back into Minecraft just to try this out

I'd like to know ASAP, does anyone use the arrow slot selection mode for the quivers? I'm thinking I'll remove it, because it's not really useful, in my opinion, and I don't want to have the mod use too many keys (I'm going to add a config-opening key).
Does it refer to the - and = keys? If it does, I actually use it during combat. Against tougher monsters, I like to switch to poison/fire arrows to wear them down first. I also like to finish the excess weakness arrows I get before starting on normal arrows. You should keep it, it feels easier to use than pressing a key to open a window to allow you to select the arrow you want

Sometimes, they become noncollectable, and keeps disappearing depending on the angle from which you look at it. First situation was when i killed 2 mobs in a very small space with a single Reap. 2nd was when a zombie was killed with a reap just as a creeper exploded. The third and fourth was when my soulsteal I sword successfully reaped a soul. Ill try to reproduce itPosted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 12, 2013How about putting the quiver HUD on the side of the screen?Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 10, 2013icymountain posted a message on Harken Scythe: Reap -What- You Sow *Biomass Blocks and Adjustments*[V2.1.6 UPD: MAY 14]Oh, a suggestion. How about making livingmetal tools repairable with souls? Currently, the rate at which it heals per soul compared to how fast it gets destroyed when killing is slower, so over time, the tool will still break, no matter how you try to conserve it. Or maybe give it the old regeneration back, but much, much slower, while making absorbed souls give a flat amount of durability back, like it currently does.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 9, 2013Ive been reading up on fletching a little, and Ive found some alternate materials to make fletchings from.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Cut cloth stiffened with glue (Works pretty well people say)
Pieces of leather
So perhaps we could use leather or stiff wool instead of feathers?
Stiff wool would be made out of wool and boiled rotten flesh. It could perhaps also be used to replace leather in bow recipes.

hey, i just downloaded the mod for 1.5.2. haven't used the mod since around 1.2.5 and some things have changed. no idea if this is a change or not but when i have a filled soul crucible next to a soul altar the altar says "captured souls: 0" am i doing something wrong here? the photo's on the OP are blocked so i can't check that way any help is appreciated
Are you sure you have the crucible ONLY 1 block away from the alter? It has to be in a position similar to a bookcase near an enchanting table; only 1 horizontal block away and nothing more/less. The vertical height can change though.
Jun 9, 2013Slight bug, sometimes some souls dont seem to be able to be collected. They just float there blinking in and out of existance. The blinking in and out thing seems to be connected to which angle youre looking at it from. Sometimes, looking at it head on makes it disappear, sometimes looking at it from the side makes it disappear.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 6, 2013I hope 'arrows that have special heads' dont apply to fire/potioned arrows. It kinda feels cool improvising and making such stuff out of arrows you find from skeletons on the spot. And its already logical that fire arrows just have their normal arrowhead set on fire, while potioned (poison/weakness/whatnot) arrows merely have the tip drenched in potion.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
Jun 6, 2013looks like a great mod, but the Painterly Pack textures arent working properly with this mod. None of the painterly leaf textures are used, and instead turns some vanilla extrabiomes textures white. Also, my redwood logs dont seem to be flipping correctly. Cant form them into a giant 4x4 log.Posted in: Minecraft Mods

A greatbow sounds interesting, though I'm not sure how realistic that would be. I'll definitely think about adding it later (probably when I get around to doing the compound bow). A big problem, though, would be that the pullback animation would make the string go through your back (that was a bit of a problem with the longbow as well).
I don't like the idea of adding a whole new arrow type to use with them, though, because that would mean setting up new normal, mod, and potion arrows (those are the three classes I have for the arrow items).
About the bowstring, personally I dont really mind, as im not going to be shooting much in 3rd person mod, its really hard to aim.
Hmm, hadnt thought of that. Perhaps another drawback is that the lance arrows cant be modded/poisoned other than set alight? Also, it would be too big to string together, so only the coding for 1 other item, the fire lance arrow, is needed.
OR it could just use normal arrows, and be a normal great bow. Either way's fine, whichever appeals to you more. As long as theres a greatbow
Oh, and is there any possible item that could replace feathers? IMO feathers are the real trouble, not flint. If you spawn nowhere near chickens, or if your chickens dont seem to be respawning, feathers are neigh impossible to get. Not to mention the chance of a chicken dropping no feathers. Or maybe make zombies drop feathers again, like in the old minecraft? From chickens they ate

5. I understand your idea behind removing enchantments upon the bow being unstrung, but i believe that since its the same bow.. it should keep the same enchantment, however... if you made the strings into whats being enchanted and a person could find said strings in dungeons and from skele drops, perhaps that would balance it a bit more. i just feel that it doesn't fit the realism, its like if i marked my bow with my initials and the string broke suddenly its a brand new unstrung bow and my initials are gone (i realize the string idea is a lot of codding.. but i think it could be worth while).
Sounds good, but thing is, bows consume 3 string on use. How would it know which string to use? And if all 3 strings are enchanted, 3 enchantments? Perhaps an easier thing to do is to make a new item, Bow String. However, it would again be weird if a normal bow were to share the same string of same length as a longbow. Bow/Longbow String then? Converts readily back and forth, from Bow String and 1 string to Longbow String and vice versa. Then again, this would present a problem with transferring enchantments. \
How about allowing unstrung bows to keep enchantments, but when enchanted with unearthly magicks, the bow material becomes brittle, giving it a 50/50 chance to break instead of the string itself? So each time an enchanted bow has its durability depleted, it would completely break half of the time. Fair trade for the possibility of keeping enchantments past a bow's lifetime
Jun 4, 2013Well alright, modern longbows arent really made out of iron, more of wood and other materials, or composites. But since you already have a composite bow, why not an iron long bow? Its gonna be really hard to pull back, hard enough you make you have to stand still to draw it.Posted in: Minecraft Mods
This is the dragonslayer bow I was talking about. In that game, it was made to kill dragons. Fully made out of metal, its really hard to pull back, even the strongest veteran knights still have to stand still to draw it. It fires specially made lances instead of arrows. I was just hoping you add a cool greatbow, not overly powerful, but enough to kill most vanilla mobs in one hit, eg zombies, spiders, creepers, skeletons, something like a sniper's bow. However, the few drawbacks include long draw time, having to stand still while drawing, perhaps moving slower if youre merely holding it. Also, only fires specially made iron lances. 1 stick and 2 iron in a diagonal shape to make 1 lance arrow. Cannot be held by a quiver, causing increased nock time as well. Most mobs have 10 hearts, so perhaps the bow could do around 10-12 hearts of damage? Costs 5 string to restring.
Alternatively, you could make it so that the person has to be under the effects of a strength potion to draw the bow.
If you dont like the idea, feel free to tell me, as its your mod after all, then ill stop adding suggestions about an iron longbow
About the compound bow, how about making the upgrade tree branch into 2 bows? Compound bows being as strong as longbows, but faster drawing and maybe mobility too, and the Greatbow, more damage than the longbow, but severely decreased mobility and long draw time
