    Hey, Reika!

Quick suggestion: Can you add a config option to disable biome ID conflict exceptions on startup in DragonAPI? I know your heart's in the right place, but sometimes I just want biome ID conflicts. Don't ask why.

    Thanks!

    Dear iconmaster,

Even if I don't want to persuade you to anything, I find this really sad... I can say: you did great job on Aeathercraft and I hope someone will continue it.

I'm also not sure if you read this or not, it makes it more sad to leave with a broken Version, because the textures aren't working...

anyway best wishes and maybe a come back,

    access_denied

OKAY, I lied up there a little. I fixed textures in a hotfix. Sorry about that.

I left you all hanging for so long. It's simply reprehensible of me to do so. So, I will give you all a final message.

AetherCraft is over. No new updates. No new bugfixes.

The final AetherCraft update, 1.5.0, adds new textures courtesy of Rodg88. Be sure to thank him for the effort I never put into this mod.

However, there is light. First of all, AetherCraft is open source. If you want to continue the mod, just fork it! I'd appreciate it if you posted here about any new forks. Second of all, AetherCraft 2 is in the works. I'll post a link to it here when it i complete.

Thank you for your support, and goodbye.

You're probably OK - the mod is GPL, so you're free to make changes so long as you publish the modified source code. Also, it'd be nice if you could contribute your changes to the Github repository, so other people's changes can be combined with them.

Agreed- I'll consider your changes once I get a pull request there.

For the tick changing config, I wish there was an X per Y setting
For ever 20 ticks (one second) is one item converted.

That's a good idea. I must rememeber that.

Also, is the green "liquid" that shows up in aether machines and what not hardcoded and doesn't use an Image? Trying to make GUIs and such fancy, but a part of the prettification is missing.

Yes, the green rectangles are gradient rectangles and not textures. Changing that shouldn't be too difficult, I'd think; I'll look into that as well...

That is certainly faster... I'll just stick to iron, though. AV is a bit too precious to waste, and having to choose between six AV per use or fourty and a speed boost that takes even more AV is easy. Speed just isn't worth it. Besides, by the time I get started on Aethercraft I usually have a diamond pickaxe as well. That thing's just as fast and both cheaper to make and to repair at fifteen AV per use.

You can always change the configs to make the AV cost of super-speed less. On the other hand, I probably do need to buff the aether tools.

I'm afraid that I no longer support the 1.6.4 version of this mod. However, is the crash because you have both AetherCraft and Energy Manipulators installed at once?

posted a message on AetherCraft 1.4.5 - Aetheral Alchemy! Turn matter into any other kind of matter!
    AetherCraft
A fork of Graknol's Energy Manipulator Mod

AetherCraft, in short, is a mod about aether. What is aether, you may ask? Aether is the one material that makes up all objects you can see, the one thing that binds together all matter. Up until now, this material has only been existent in theory. Now, you have the tools to convert things to and from this ur-substance!

With the tools AetherCraft gives you, you can both convert items into pure Aether and turn Aether into items. You can even use Aether to charge items of great power!

(This mod spotlight was for version 1.3.2. Some things have changed since then!)

    Overview
This mod deals with numbers. To be precise, it deals with Aether Values. This number (AV for short) represents the amount of Aether in an object. More expensive items, like diamonds, will have more AV than less expensive items, like wood. This functions almost identically to the famous mod EE2's EMC rating, except for the fact that AVs can be decimals as well.

These numbers rest on the idea of conversion of matter. An object that is crafted from other objects will always have an AV that is the sum of its components (if this is not true, it's for game balance reasons). Therefore, some AVs are inherent, others are simply found by summating the AV of its components.

    Blocks

    Aether Extractor

With this device, one converts items into pure Aether, usable for creating any other item. When you open this device, you get the following GUI:

You put the items you want converted into the left slots; the resulting Aether is stored in the bar on the right. Hold 'shift' to find the AV of any items in this GUI and any other Aether-containing GUI. By default, this device holds 16,386 AV.

    Aether Condenser

Well, you've converted some stuff into Aether, and now you want to do something with it. How, you may ask? With this device, of course! You use this device to turn Aether into items. Just connect it to an Extractor (or any other Aether-containing device). When you open this device, you get the following GUI:

You put the item you want in the leftmost slot. If there is Aether available, this device will then begin converting Aether into the item specified; these items will go into the rightmost slots. By default, this machine holds 16,386 AV.

    Aether Conduit

These blocks are tubes through which aether can flow, if given such an impulse. devices connected by these conduits will share AV if the need arises. You connect these blocks together like so:

And there you go, your devices are linked! Use these to get around those pesky AV storage limits. They do not store any AV internally; they only transmit it.

    Aether Manipulator

This device combines the features of the Aether Extractor and Condenser, allowing you to both turn items to and from Aether in one device. When you open up this machine, you will get this GUI:

The slots in the bottom are where you put the items you want converted into Aether. If you want to turn Aether back into items, put something in the top slot, and as long as it has an AV, copies of that item will appear in the bottom slots.

Also from this GUI you can check how much AV is stored internally and the AV conversion loss percentage (it's in the config settings). By default, this block can hold up to 32,768 AV.

    Aether Container

This block allows you to both store excess AV and to charge your Aether Batteries. When you open up this machine, you will get this GUI:

To begin putting AV into this device, just place it next to an Aether Manipulator. The GUI is mainly for charging batteries; to charge one, put it into the bottom slot; to discharge it, put it in the top. By default, this block can hold up to 65,536 AV.

    ***

Of course, your devices have their limits. By default, Conduits and the like can only transfer 8192 AV to and from them; this mean that you'll have a hard time manipulating anyhthing beefier than diamonds. Your current devices are simply too weak to deal with such amounts of Aether! However, there is one way to create the things you need for more powerful devices: The Aether Infuser.

    Aether Infuser

This device allows you to further refine your Aetology through the creation of Aether-infused materials. The Aether Infuser takes Aether and saturates objects with it, producing powerful new components used to upgrade your devices.

If you put Gold Ingots into the device, like so:
and provide an amount of AV equal to three times its cost, the Infuser will eventually produce a bar of gold infused with pure Aether; an Infused Ingot, if you will.

These Infused Ingots can be combined to form both blocks and bricks. Even better, their more Aetheral properties cause them to emit low light levels! They're great for building.

You can also create Aetheral Foci by putting diamonds into the Infuser. These gems contain great amounts of magic!

Most importantly of all, you can use these new objects to create machines capable of holding and transceiving 4 times the AV lower-tier devices can:

    Infused Extractor

    Infused Condenser

    Infused Conduit

    Infused Manipulator

    Infused Container

    Aether Catalyzer

    ***

If one can infuse ingots with Aether, what will stop one from further Aether infusion? The answer is: Nothing! One can infuse Infused Ingots AGAIN to produce even more potent stuff:

These are Gilded Ingots, and they produce Gilded machines. Gilded with what, you may ask? Gold, of course!

With this Golden Matter, one can produce ever more powerful devices, these capable of handling up to over 131 thousand AV by default:

    ***

There are also new devices that require Infused materials.

    Aether Reconstructor

This device repairs your tools! Just put in a tool and some AV, and this device will slowly repair your tool. The amount of AV needed will be equal to the AV of the corresponding fraction repaired. Repairing in this manner will keep enchantments intact, so it's a great alternative to the anvil!

    Items

    Aether Battery

This item allows you to both transport AV and fuel AV-using items on the go. Just use it in conjunction with the Aether Container to put AV in it! By default, this item can hold up to 16,384 AV.

    Aether Cell

This is an upgrade to the Aether Battery, able to hold four times as much as its non-Infused counterpart.

    ***

Being a simple ingot, one can use Infused Ingots to make viable tools. More than viable, even! These tools have high durability and enchantability. Even more, if one activates them by right-clicking, they will consume AV to mine at a greatly accelerated rate!

You'll need this to make tools:

From there, many basic tools are yours:

In addition, the Aether Sword deals extra damage on hit while activated.

You can also get a new tool, the Aether Hammer. This tool mines in a 3x3 radius:

    ***

One can use Aether for many purposes other than transmutation. To convert this aether into a usable effect, however, an Aetologist usually puts Aetheral power into rings. TO make any ring, you always start out with a Wrought Band:

From there on, you can make a variety of rings:

    Ring of Repair

This ring is a portable Aether Reconstructor! While it is in your inventory and activated (by right-clicking it), this ring will consume AV to repair your tools over time. More expensive tools take more AV to repair.

    Ring of Flight

This ring gives you the power of FLIGHT! To start flying, all you have to do is activate it by right-clicking it. Once activated, you can fly just like in Creative mode! It also prevents fall damage. To be able to fly, it needs AV in the form of a charged Aether Battery in your inventory. By default, It consumes 8 AV a second when activated.

    Mod Integration
First of all, if Not Enough Items is installed, you can hold shift anywhere to see items' AV.

Second of all, I've been hard at work getting this mod to play nice with all the other ones. Sadly, getting recipes necessary for getting dynamic AVs is hardly clean work, and as such, I cannot claim it's compatible with every mod. However, there is built-in support for:

Thermal Expansion: Supports Pulverizer ,Induction Furnace, Magma Crucible, and Fluid Transposer recipes.

IndustrialCraft 2: Supports Macerator, Compressor, Extractor, and Rolling Machine recipes.

BuildCraft: Supports Assembly Table and Refinery recipes.

Railcraft: Supports Rolling Machine, Coke Oven and Blast Furnace recipes.

Forestry: Supports Bottler, Carpenter, Thermionic Fabricator, Fermenter, and Still recipes.

Ars Magica: Supports Essence Refiner recipes.

Tinker's Construct: Supports smelting, casting, and chiseling recipes.

    DartCraft: Supports Dart Grinding recipies.

Applied Energistics 2: Supports Inscriber and Grinder recipes.

Ender IO: Supports Induction Furnace recipes.

Of course, if a modded item doesn't have any recipes for it (if it's an ore, etc.), there would be no way for AVs to be made for it, right? WRONG! As you can see below, you can assign custom AVs for most modded objects through AetherCraft's robust configuration system.

    Creating Your Own Aether Values
You can assign new AVs for most objects without even touching a config file using the in-game /aec command!

To begin giving items AVs, just type /aec edit and then a filename. This name is the name of the config file you are editing. look in your Minecraft's /config/aec-values directory for all the config files you already have.

Once you're editing a file, just put your hand in the hotbar over the item you want to give a value and type /aec add and then the AV. Do this for every item you want to add to the config file you have opened.

If you want to assign an AV to a fluid, assign it to the physical, not-suppose-to-have-in-Survival BLOCK of a fluid, not the bucket. Remember that one block of a fluid is equal to only 1 mB; to get the AV of a single fluid block, take the AV of a bucket's worth and divide by 1000.

Once you're done adding all the AVs, type /aec save to save the file to your filesystem. Alternately, if you've decided that you don't like the changes you've made, type /aec discard to destroy them. Now, all you have to do is type /aec reload to reload the Avs in real-time!

There are some other tools /aec provides. Type /aec name to get the ID name of the thing in your hand. Type /aec get to get the AV of the item in you hand relative to the opened config file. Type /aec dump to see ALL the AVs given in the open file. Type /aec del to delete an AV mapping entirely.

Once you have an AV config file, you can distribute it to your heart's content, and the values will hold! For some pre-made AV files, see the Download section.

You can also edit AV files manually. To specify an item with a specific metadata in a file, you can add two colons (::) and the metadata next to an entries name.

    Config Settings
If you look in AetherCraft.cfg in your /config folder, you'll see a bunch of options:

consumeprecision: Change this number to change how lossy matter conversions are. A value of 100 means there is no loss; numbers lower than that mean that a certain percentage is lost when transmuting. For example, if you set this to 95, you'll only get 95% of the listed AV when you put something in an Aether Manipulator. This is great for balancing servers, etc.!

ammaxstorage, acmaxstorage, abatterymaxstorage: This is how much the Aether Manipulator, Aether Container, and Aether Battery can hold, respectively.

enableflyring: Set this to false if you don't want people to use the Flying Ring.

avmultiplier: This is how each and every AV is multiplied by. You can use this to easily jack up or lower the AV of everything if you do so desire.

flycostpersecond: This is how much the Flying Ring costs per second.

instantconsume: If set to true, things in the Manipulator will be transmuted instantly.

showavalways: If set to true, you won't need to hold shift to see AVs.

chargerate: This is how quickly Aether Batteries charge per tick.

flowrate: This is the maximum amount of AV a device and recieve or send.

toolcost: This is how much the Aether tools cost to mine a single block.

avlimit: This is how much AV a first tier machine can handle at once. Higher tier machines can handle objects with more AV.

Pre-made AV configs:There's already some AV config files made for a variety of mods' items! Just check out this folder here for a bunch. Like any other config file, put them in /config/aec-values.

    Installation
This is a Forge mod. You're going to need to install the most recent build of Minecraft Forge for the Minecraft version AetherCraft is running on. There's several very good tutorials on installing Forge online if one is willing to Google for them.

The modfile .jar goes into the /mods directory. Do not unzip it; that would be silly. Any custom AV files you download go into the /config/aec-values directory.

    Changelog
1.4.4 - Added the Ring of Regneration. While active, it consumes AV to produce a regneration effect.
Added the Aether Pump. This device is basically a one-way Conduit; you choose a side to pump Aether through. It actively moves AV from one end to the other.
Added language localization. Make AetherCraft in your mother tongue today!
Added the Aetomemter. This tool allows you to measure the AV in whole networks, among other things.
Added the Ring of Phasing. This ring employs advanced Aether-Space theory to make you phase out of the world, granting invisibility and a chance to not get hurt from attacks.

    1.4.3 - Initial 1.7.10 port.
Fixed AV tooltips appearing in duplicate
Fixed the Aether Hammer not working on dirt.
Made some machines spam packets less in some cases. There's a config option to alter this behaviour.
Added Aether Armor. This set of armor, crafted from Infused Ingots, provides a low base defense, but will also consume AV to protect you from extra damage.

1.4.2 - Made it so the AV tooltip appears everywhere even without NEI installed.
Added an NEI plugin for the Aether Infuser.
    Added basic EnderIO support.
Fixed bug with packets spamming the console.

    1.4.1 - Fixed IC2 support.
Changed the dynamic AV handler a bit. It's now smarter when dealing with mod's recipe inputs.
Added Applied Energistics 2 support for the Inscriber and the Grinder.
    Many small bugfixes.

    1.4.0 - Initial port to MC 1.7.2.
    Changed the Container GUI.
Fixed the bug with avmultiplier config option.
Rings now deactivate in containers and re-activate when out of them.
AV config files now save by ID name rather than unlocalized name. Old config files still work for now. be sure to update any config files you have with /aec edit and /aec save before using any future versions of this mod!

1.3.3 - Added Tier 3 machines: the Gilded machines will be able to handle EVEN MORE AV then ever before!
    Fixed various GUI bugs.
Fixed block textures not appearing in game.
Added new config option to change the AV limit independently of flow rate.

1.3.2 - Added 6 new Aetheral tools: The Pickaxe, Shovel, Axe, Sword, Hammer, and Shears. They consume AV to dig faster.
Added the Ring of Repair. This ring will use AV to repair your tools.
    Changed some recipes.
Fixed a bug with the IC2 crafting handler.
    Improved the conduit item renderer.

1.3.1 - Added Forestry support for most machines.
Added new aec command: /aec addall. It adds AV values for EVERY damage value of an item.
Added support for DartCraft crafting and grinding.
    Added support for BuildCraft refineries.
Added support for Ars Magica Essence Refiners.
Added support for Tinker's Construct smelting, casting, and chiseling.
Fixed a bug with metadata in config files.

1.3.0 - Reworked the AV transfer system. Machines now have a maximum amount of AV they can manipulate directly in an item, instead of having a maximum amount of AV grab power.
If you can't produce an item in the Condenser or Manipulator, it will show up in red.
Added Railcraft support for the Blast Furnace, Coke Oven, and Rolling Machine.
Fixed bug with /aec reload not reloading clients.

1.2.9 - Fixed multiple server-side crashes and bugs.
Made it so you need to be opped to use /aec on servers.
You can now use /aec from the server console. Just don't use the commands that require you to have something in your hand.

    1.2.8 - Minor bugfixes.

1.2.7 - The Infused Container and Aether Catalyzer now charge faster.
There is now an infused version of the Aether Battery. It holds more.
Added the Aether Reconstructor. This device allows you to repair tools at an AV cost equal to the original. You can use it to keep enchants and much more!
    Added support for Forestry crafting.

1.2.6 - Added a new /aec command - del. This will remove a AV assignment from an item; since setting an AV to 0 will blacklist it, using del will allow an item to be dynamically calculated instead.
Added the Aether Infuser. This allows you to, at an AV cost, infuse Aether into common objects, turning them into powerful foci used in constructing more powerful devices.
Added Infused Ingots and Aetheral Foci. These objects are created via Gold Ingots and Diamonds with the Infuser. You can make blocks out of the ingots that glow!
Added Tier 2 devices. These devices made out of Infused items can hold and transfer more Aether than Tier 1 ones can.
Made it so there's a limit to Aether transfer per tick, by default 8192 AV. Now, you probably won't be able to properly transmute anything more beefy than diamond until you upgrade to Tier 2.
    Made the Ring more expensive.

1.2.5 - Added Aether Extractors and Aether Condensers, which do the consumption and production features of the Manipulator, respectively.
    Changed some recipes.
    Fixed BC support.
Made the Container cost less, but now it stores less as well. For this to take effect, you will need to delete the config for 'acmaxstorage' in AetherCraft.cfg.

1.2.4 - Added Aether Conduits, which are pipes that allow you to connect your devices together, sharing AV.
The Flight Ring now only prevents fall damage while active.
Fluids can now be assigned AVs directly - Just assign an AV to a physical fluid block to assign the AV of oe mB of that fluid.
Added support for Thermal Expansion Crucibles and Transposers.
Adjusted some AVs. WARNING: This means you will have to delete /config/aec-values/default.cfg manually to get the new values!

1.2.3 - Flying ring now must be active in order to drain aether. Right-click it to activate it.
Fixed the flying ring keeping other flight mods from working.
Charging Aether Batteries now takes time.
Aether Manipulators can now pull from any Container that's connected to it by an number of containers, not just its immediate neighbor.
    Changed config file names.

1.2.2 - Fixed many dynamic AV values.
Added support for BuildCraft's Assembly Tables.
Creating items via Manipulator now does not copy NBT.

1.2.1 - Changed recipes to reflect new textures.

posted a message on AetherCraft 1.4.5 - Aetheral Alchemy! Turn matter into any other kind of matter!
Hello again! It's been so long, the entire forum design has changed since I left! This time, I don't have an excuse. Sorry.

Anyways, I believe I fixed the most recent bugs with packet spamming with the new Beta build. Expect a new stable release soon, followed by a 1.7.10 port in the near future.

I believe I've fixed all the big bugs this release. 1.4.1 will be out soon.

Small bug report with the 1.7.2 version:
    • The Aether Infuser's progress bar does not seem to be working even when it is producing infused ingots. The bar/arrow is clear and then an ingot pops out.

Yes, it was a graphical bug; yes, it's fixed now.

Actually you can make the Infused Ingots just not the Gilded Ingots and none of the Gilded Tier Blocks/Items have an AV like the lower tier ones do. I have gotten around the uncraftable Gilded Ingots by having a CustomNPC guy trade a Gilded Ingot for an Infused Ingot + 3 Diamonds in my Spawn trading store on my private server. Once you have the Gilded Ingots all of the Gilded Tier blocks ARE craftable.

Also, anyone out there got a config for the Metallurgy 4 or EnderIO mods yet? I would appreciate it if you could share them! Thanks!

There was a bug where a small fraction of worlds didn't get all the Infuser recipes. That's fixed now too.

Sorry there's hasn't been any more bugfixes lately. I'm working on reviewing the ModJam mods, and this has been taking up quite a bit of time! Expect a 1.4.1 release soon after I get back to work.

Iconmaster, support for the EnderIO Alloy Smelter outputs would be a feature I would love to see if possible! Thanks for the awesome mod!

Maybe I'll work on this for a 1.4.2 release.

I've had other similar bug reports; apparently, there's a client-side bug with the Infuser. I'll look into it soon.
