Sorry to be bugging you guys with another problem after you helped me solve my first, but now I have a server running, and I can connect to it, but when my friend tries, he says it refuses the connection. I'm pretty sure my ports are open. I am running ubuntu 10.04 instead of Windows, so please, do not reccomend a Windows tool to me.
"Application" What ever you want to label the entry in your list, often the application name that the port is for.
"Start" Is the start of the port range you are using
"End" is the end of the port range you are using
"IP address" is the IP address of your server on your network
But what do I put for Start and End? 25565 for both of them? I don't understand the "port range" thing. As for the Ip address, it just shows 192.168.1.()
Where the ()'s are is a box where I'm supposed to type a number, not 1. I'm really sorry for being such a newb, but I don't understand.
I tried uploading a screenshot, but it keeps saying it failed to upload. Thanks, though. Exact error:
Could not upload attachment to ./files/53553_cb29a2688ae563b41bcfa715041d5252.
I'm trying to host a Minecraft server on port 25565. The problem is, I have no idea what to fill out. I have a WRT54G router, and I do not know what to put under "Application","Start","End","IP address"
I've tried them all, I've tried deleting my saved worlds, and EVERY SINGLE TIME I try to start a game, the terrain either loads properly and gets stuck, or loads all glitchy. Regardless, the pause menu pops up and I cannot return to the game, only save and exit or edit the options. I'm quite mad right now, as I feel downright scammed. This is Minecraft Alpha, if you did not guess.
The auto program is for windows. I just want port 25565, is there any easier way than portforward.com? I remember that site from me trying to host a Blockland serveral years ago, and I had a horrible time with that.
Hello. Sorry to waste your time, but I have multiple problems with creating a server in Ubuntu 10.04
The first one is that whenever I start Minecraft, it claims I have an outdated launcher. It does this despite me updating it.
The other thing is that when I (think) I had a server running, and my friend tried to join it, he couldn't and thought I needed to forward my ports. Does anyone know how to open port 25565(or whatever the default is) specifically

Forward my IP? I thought I was done with forwarding... Anyway, can you tell me how to do this?

Okay, that clears up everything but the IP address. On my router port forward thing, it says
192.168.1.()
And as mentioned, the () is a box where I'm supposed to type a number.
While according to what you gave me a link to, my IP is 127.0.0.1

I'm not sure if you'll be able to see this, but maybe you can see the attachment of my Ubuntu forums post, asking for help there. http://ubuntuforums.org/attachment.php? ... 1285722162
