If you think you're being discriminated against, deal with it. It's really not the issue of whoever you're using Xbox Live with, it's the fact that this is the internet. People do random, inherently spiteful things (myself included).
I find your use of "17 and older" to be discriminating against people of that group. You shouldn't. However, as someone at my high school said,
"Their middle-schoolers. Next year, when their freshmen, I'll be a senior, and they'll still be below me."
These sorts of people are things that everyone hates and often are using the internet to vent, or just consider it fun.
