I keep getting disconnected, and then when I try to connect it keeps saying "Can't reach server" The I.P address is right, and I've done all I can think of to connect. But no luck for me. I am on the server, I have a work in progress house and a functioning underground farm.

Am I the only one with this problem?

I have not gotten disconnected, but I uninstalled, and did a clean install of MC this morning, and ever since then it says "cannot reach server". So right now i suppose im in a similar boat >.<

posted a message on Mob spawning issue regarding my spawner/killer, any advice?
@pelirrojo173, thanks for the link...it has answered my question AND given me a quick fix without completely re-doing my mob spawner, but sounds like im going to have to do a lot more lighting in a 290x290 area instead of 144x144 lol. this could take a very, very long time lol. but anyway i appreciate your input.

i am having this exact same problem. i spent a total of about 8 hours building my spawner (100% legit). i tested it for an hour, and was happy, but not satisfied. i mean, who doesnt want bigger and better? so i almost doubled its size and tested again. 20 minutes in i had a TON of stuff, then it steadily decreased to about 1 item per hour, if that. frustrated i downloaded MCedit and lit all caves and surface around the spawner, and still had the same thing happen. i think notch just hates me lol.

Mobs won't spawn within 25 blocks of you. The world size is just a menu display glitch.

Yes, I know hostile mobs wont spawn within 24ish blocks of you, but the problem is i was getting plenty of spawns before i used MCedit. Now i am getting none. The place i stand in the trap is 30 blocks away from the spawning area. I even checked to make sure my own spawnpoint was at least 50 blocks away from my trap (and of course it was).

Sorry for the wall of text, but.....
As the title suggests, I'm having trouble with hostile mob spawns.

The other day i was getting bored with minecraft and decided to build something big, to entertain me until i find out what to build next. After looking at lots of designs, i decided to make a mob trap (60x20x30). It's not the biggest, but it did take about 4 hours to build. It was made mostly of cobblestone, gravel, and a mix of anything else i had on hand. After several hours of testing i was averaging about 200 items per hour. Unsatisfied i began searching the forums for ways to improve it without completely re-doing it. I had gotten the idea that mobs spawn best on cobblestone (not solid fact, just several people's theories).

So....instead of doing the responsible thing and putting in the cobblestone floors by hand, i did it with MCedit to save time. I also lit all the caves underneath it to keep the spawns in my trap. I did not move the place i stand or anything, and I always use normal difficulty.

    The Result:
    1. NO mob spawns in or around my trap while standing inside it, though getting out and running around for a bit and returning causes a small burst of spawns. (I have to go at least 5 chunks away before finding any hostile mobs outside the trap)

    2. My world file size is steadily shrinking by .03 MB (give or take) each time i load it.

Could anyone tell me what would have caused the sudden change in spawning behavior? My guess is a bug from using MCedit but im not sure because that is the first time i have used it.

Tell us a little about yourself: I am working on my last semester of high school. I am in a vocational school, taking a class to get my certificate in computer maintenance. After I graduate I plan on going to Linn State Technical College to get my associates degree in computer programming. Other than that, I'm just a gamer at heart.
Post a picture of something you have built: This is just the beginnings of something I plan on expanding.

Sorry the image is so big, this is the only way i know how to take screenshots haha.

i LOVE this idea. First off, coffee is absolutely the best drink on the face of this planet. Second, it would be nice to add something else to the game that can be farmed.
