    I don't really know what else to give you. I have deleted the entire bin folder at least twice now to download fresh copies and attempted reapplying the texture pack. Same results each time. Also, when I use the patcher it returns a "Success! Probably..." like I assume it's supposed to in the status window. This is just the first time I'm posting about the issue is all. I added the version of Windows because I noticed Tombones asking someone about it earlier, just tried to be informative.

    I'm using the Painterly pack right now, and it's installed through the new method (texturepacks folder). It works fine, enables fine, etc. This is why I believe it's nothing to do with my graphics capabilities or any textures themselves, but in the installation process. The only vague part is that damn patcher program.

    Hmm... do you think if i just do a straight up manual install like we used to, it'll still work fine? Or will I have animated lava/water issues, etc.?

    If not, oh well. I'm sure things will work out somehow.


    the condescension comes from 95% (or higher) of the people that ask for help not having followed the rules. I don't know what the issue is, but this is what I did:

    I put the zip file in the textures folder and loaded it through the texture loader IN the game. After that I applied xau's patcher, with 32x32 selected and the same zip selected as the texture pack, and all options checked (working on animated lava atm...). It worked like a charm.

    correction: when you use your custom textures you're doomed to teleport through 3 lines or purple. And even if there was a portal graphic in your terrain.png it wouldn't matter because that's not where the program is pulling the graphic from.

    More details please. if you did follow the instructions in detail then nothing should have gone wrong. I suggest deleting the "version" file in the bin folder so minecraft downloads a fresh minecraft.jar again and try a second time, this time more carefully. Or the problem might reside in your computer somewhere else. I have no clue if your version of Windows is the root of the problem.

    there's none. It's coded somewhere else. If there was a fix for it the sky would be packed with fireworks celebrating it's discovery

    he's talking about the SMP mod "portal" which imitates the actual portal game. this is ONLY for SMP (aka MULTIPLAYER). The closest thing you can get for single player is the Recall mod which lets you set recall points which you can teleport to by using scrolls.

    FYI, there's already a mod with obsidian tools out there (IWannaWin's mods I believe). However, I kinda like these more because of the adition of the obsidian sticks.

    I'm sorry to inform you sir, but by looking at any sales history data would confirm that a lot of people think Oblivion is cool, even though I don't like the game myself. Now, I don't know about total lack of color harmony in a very unorganized and nonsensical manner...

    people are not getting paid to do requests for random strangers. You have to make your idea sound VERY appealing to people in order to catch an artist's attention. Ways to do this include uploading the map, posting screenshots of the game you want the skins/textures from, telling how it would change the gameplay or what it would add to minecraft, etc. Don't expect people to do your requests just like that
