Thank you for nice feedback, i've edited post little

I feel like Swamp Biomes are little lacking with atmosphere and flora/vegetation, but one thing that i especially think needs to be improved are the holes as seen here (not the pond in background)

So the idea is not to remove the holes or water, but to fill them with new layer/slab like blocks, that can submerge under water. The blocks could possibly have similar behaviors to soul sand, slowing down player. So instead of deep gaps where you fall in they'll be basically puddles and mud that slow you down

I think henovida's idea of replacing with no slabs/layers would make it too easy to get across, but I do like your idea of quicksand. Maybe a mixture of both holes and quicksand personally rather than removing them entirely. There's also the danger of "Oh I'll just go around it" - even if it is a longer way round, could be an easy escape. Yes you'd be more vulnerable to mobs but isn't that the case in most places?

It should be difficult to get across (Hence the support of quicksand) which is why I agree with your post but - it's more the implementation of it. I would rather you would have to try and go across it (Quicksand and all) than around it. Maybe more sugar cane dotted around just to add to the quicksand to make it more swampy.

I like the idea of quicksand but completely disagree with both posts on removing/replacing the gaps. Do that and it will just be like every.other.biome. It should be a little treacherous. Minecrafters can't have everything on a plate and made easy.

Although questions like those are important to ask because generally speaking you want a low barrier to entry, I don't think they're an argument for deciding whether something should or should not be implemented.

Also, I strongly disagree with any suggestion like this since it makes certain biomes off-limits unless you get special enchantments or items, and the biomes in question already don't offer that much compared to many other biomes (it doesn't help either that "snowy" climate zones are the least varied, just ice plains/taiga and their variants) - sure, add new biome-specific mobs and weather effects (blizzard = heavier snowfall when thunderstorms occur elsewhere; thunderstorms can likewise have heavier rain) but not temperature - or thirst, another widely hated suggestion - or natural events that destroy things, even if just things like crops (not that it would be that hard to dig out a room underground and grow crops there - after all, that's what I always do, otherwise it affects players who like to build real houses and farms).

The thing is, I don't think suggestions like these make certain biomes off limits. It really depends on how quickly the heat meter drains. If it takes the heat meter a full day to drain before you begin to feel the effects of being cold, and another full day before you're health starts to suffer, then I don't think the mechanic restricts basic exploration. Cold draining just slow enough would also prevent the situation erictom is concerned about.

Personally, I think weather based mechanics are sorely missing in Minecraft and in actuality, "Survival Mode" doesn't really qualify as survival. Most people play survival games to manage resources and player stats (hunger, thirst, temp, sleep etc.). Minecraft's survival tension is gone after the first 20 minutes. Additionally, "Hardcore" is not really a bump in survival difficulty. Sure it makes combat more dangerous, but it does nothing to augment the survival elements. Weather based survival mechanics implemented as forgiving as hunger wouldn't disrupt survival as it is, but with that I think hardcore mode should increase the rate that those meters increase/decrease. Thirst is a bad suggestion, although its for other reasons.

I partially support this idea because I think it could work, but there's a lot that hasn't been thought about in the original op. This idea can work, but much more detail has to be given on how this would be implemented and what about the base game has to change to accommodate implementation.

Mojang should add new bugs into the game, some are more hostile some are friendly.

The first bug is a worm. (Is a worm a bug or insect at all? Who cares!) Killing them will drop nothing, but if you right click on it with a shovel, it will give you a worm. When you surround a bucket with worms on a crafting table, it will give you a bucket of worms, which while fishing you can hold it in your off hand to increase bite speed and chance for fish.

The second is a beetle. Killing them gives you bug meat, which will poison you if you eat it, whereas parrots like it as a snak. But, cooking it will give you cooked bug meat which will give you nausea but also give you speed and strength. (They say bug meat is protein!)

The third bug is an ant. This one is interesting! Ants can be put in spawners but not naturally. Naturally they spawn from ant hills which act like spawners for ants. Ants, when killed, drop nothing, but, they climb trees and when they come down they will carry sticks back to their hill. When they carry sticks, it will show up on their back and THEN if you kill them they drop sticks. Destroying an ant hill dosent do anything but it is necessary if they turn into an infestation. Ant queens are rare but they are bigger, red, and killing them gives you 1 - 5 ant eggs, which you can feed to parrots or use to spawn ants, for like a zoo!

The fourth one is the bee! They will not naturally spawn in spawners, but they will naturally spawn in bee hives which act like a spawners for bees. Hitting the hive will spawn 5 - 6 angry bees that will come after you. Being stung by a bee wont normally do anything besides take away damage, but if stung enough times in a row, you will get an effect called allergic hives which poison you a little and makes your vision blurry. Destroying a bee hive takes three hits and will give you 2 - 3 honey. Queen bees are rare but killing them will give you pollen. Pollen can be used to make honey, which you eat.

The fifth and last one is a butterfly. Like parrots and tropical fish, butterfly's have all different types of designs. They die immediately with on hit, and killing them does nothing, but feeding them pollen will actually get them to lead you to villages.
