I guess the stars are generated by some code i.e. not drawn in bitmap: they're just too sharp-edged compared to any other graphic element in the game, you can barely see any aliasing.
That is true. It makes this astronomy research more interesting, because its like discovering something "new", not some scribblings notch made in paint or so. Also maybe someone would make up a couple of star signs just for the lols.
halfway-offtopic: I do also know that the ancient Egyptians had something called "The Indestructibles" This was about two stars circling around a dark spot witch never moved. in minecraft, we do have spots in the sky (north and south) wich during night, all the stars seem to be circling around those spots.
Anyways keep up this good work. I hope something interesting shows up!
I just completed the map, with all ten slime balls plus a lapis lauzuli ore i found in one chest.
The map is great, really, and i love the artwork of it!
It lacks a bit challenge though, it was kinda easy. Also, maybe make more hidden chests, and more hidden? i found everyone at the first attempt.
I liked the start, even though its too easy to cheat by making a button and open the iron door before entering the cave. did also your lava room miss a wall, or is it not there by purpose?
anyways, keep up the good work!
Why do people have so much expectations of this update?
Most of the new updates are simple, yet genius stuff! Why should not this be simple as well?
People are going to find some way of making this more interesting anyways!
For me it would make perfect sense that monsters would attack the dog like 20 % of the time instead of you.
If the dogs/wolves are tamable it becomes more like a resource than a pet, unless you protect him or something.
This is already a player-made thing Notch don't have to worry about.
Give the wild wolf a bone -> he follows you
Give him raw pork -> he heals (not really necessary)
punch him with bare hands -> he becomes wild again
I don't know if they are hostile or neutral as wild though.
Anyways I really like this idea I think Notch will make this AWSOME no matter how it turns out!
But does this mean the world will be identical further out?
If so, are there only like 9999999999999999999999999999999999999......++ worlds to be "randomly" spawned in?
Constructed:
Main working area with couch
Furnace-room
Storage room
Dock (with automatic boat-parking)
Room for infinite water and infinite lava (lava dosen't work anymore)
Garbage disposal
Wheat farm
Wheat-to-bread kitchen
Fishing pot with kitchen
Indoor Tree-farm
Outdoor Tree-farm
Cactus farm
Reed farm
underground monster spawning trap with looting system
underground passive mob spawning trap with looting system
egg farm
Planning:
Obsidian farm (only problem is that i need to get the lava the old way)
Kitchen for mushroom-soup making
sqiud is stated to suffocate outside water, and since they swim downwards, can they swim out of the water (water beeing held up by ladders), fall to the ground and suffocate? it would be like an reversed dropwning trap for squid.
I'm going to try make a trap under an ocean, about four block deep water, falling-pockets of 2x2 beeing everywhere. under i have channels leading to one 2x2 spot where they land on dry ground and suffocaate to death.
U guys think that might work?
Also: are squid attracted to light like other passive mobs?
will they spawn randomley and fast enough for this trap to be effective?
Squid has been seen in groups even in small bodies of water.
they usally spawn under the first layer of water, and swim downwards. they spawn rearly though, I must say
more of these squids would be welcome, but they arent vital to the game, so too much of them would be rather annoying.
why not have them drop something uniqe? something that can be used for purposes only in the Nether? like a bone-material that can be used to craft a special pickaxe to mine a rare gem only found deep in the Nether's bottom?
A bowl of water is an absolute benefit if you fear for you bucket.

As long as I get to keep the bucket :tongue.gif:
This. Notch said you get to keep the buckets when you make cake so that could be used for this.
+1 for the suggestion.
Well there you go!
-The 16-stacking system is not nessacerly, as you won't benefit much from having huge stacks anywhere
-I you throw a snowball trough runnning lava, it will NOT bunr, but only go trough. The same will happen to a water balloon as they only have an affect on still lava/a real lava "chunk". If thrown (like hittting the default Q) it will be an item, not a weapon in action, and will burn like everything else.
-Good question (Y), don't really know. maybe snowballs will have another advantage later in the game. But more items=the more fun :biggrin.gif:
How come the power of redstone can't be used for furnaces? I know that it currently would be a waste of needing coal and burnable material, but if this and similar task need a REAL power source? for example a water wheel also giving a chance of grinding wheat into flour? The red wire is connected to the back of the mill, and has to be connected within the red wire's first limit (meaning you can't expand it longer than 15 blocks).
Flour is a great choise for baking, instead of whole grain (witch can be used for other things)
for making this possible, the furnace still needs some limits, like you charge up some "charges" and use them, but then you will have to wait again.
Charging electrisity means possiblilies for batteries :tongue.gif:

Quite good map, although three challenges is a bit short. Make them longer and bigger, or simply make more :biggrin.gif:
