I've also played since 1.7, though I prefer to play on servers than single player.
I find single player worlds get boring no matter what version I'm playing. I think all the updates they're adding to the game are really cool and I can't wait 'til the snapshots are officially released. Right now, I'd rather meet some new people to play MC with, and I think that'll bring the game back for me.
I'll sometimes take over a villager's house, though if a village isn't around, I like to build a house with 2 floors usually. The house I have right now is 3 floors; an upstairs where my bed and some valuable stuff I don't want thrown in a chest; the main floor, I don't have much on the main floor; and the basement where I keep my furnaces, chests, and enchantment table.
As for where I prefer to settle, I usually go for water-fronts. I like the view, and I can get some pretty cool items from fishing like enchanted books, name tags and saddles.

I don't have anyone to play with either, if you're still interested. I'm 25 years old. My GT's Hawkz. I also have discord.
