posted a message on Hosted Vanilla Server 1.6.2 Resource Pack Will Not Download
    Hello,

We've been happily running our own vanilla minecraft server for years, but recently decided to change over to a hosted service on Multiplay after a 5 month break from the game. Now we've set up our profiles and have everything running great, but we've run into a snag with the 1.6.2 update and the new resource packs: We can't figure out how to get the server use the new resource packs and download them to the players. The old method no longer seems to work, for a reason we have not yet figured out.

    This is what we've discovered:
    1. simply adding the line "texture-pack=some direct download location" (no quotes) will not prompt the user to download and use the resource pack. Nothing happens. The resource pack in question is Good morning craft 4.7 and is compatible with 1.6.2.
    2. version 1.5.2 will ask the user to download a compatible texture pack (that is under the old format), but will fail and not download anything when the player accepts.
    3. We've tried multiple variations of the direct access link (on dropbox, in a public folder), but cannot even get the server to prompt the user for a download.
The relevant section in our server.properties file looks this:

    # Whitelist - Allows only specified users to join the server.
    # This is minecraft's "private server" feature; use this to protect your server from outsiders.
    # true - Only those you allow will be allowed on your server.
    # false - Anyone can join.
    white-list=true

    # Maximum Build Height
    # Default: 256
    max-build-height=256
    texture-pack=https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/65007383/GoodMorningCraftv4.7.zip

The download link variations we've tried are (for the sake of trying everything):

We were able to successfully use texture packs on our own physical server before the update to 1.6.2 from 1.4.x and the transition to a hosted service. Are we missing something?

    Any help is appreciated!

posted a message on 2x3 Piston Door Assistance
    Heyo,

I've been struggling to adapt the classic 2x2 "Jeb" door into a 2x3 application. I've been so far unsuccessful and have only managed to get 4 pistons to activate properly, with the central 2 giving me a ridiculous headache over the last 2 weeks.

Does anyone know how how this is done? If someone has an example created in a map i can explore, that would be best.

posted a message on Mysterious lag problem! (Read before posting about lag!)
Did a search and came up with this topic. I'm having a serious problem with lag in single player and it would seem a lot of others are as well. Minecraft was playing fine until a few days ago, and now the framerate drops to 1-2fps after a chunk load is triggered and/or playing for anywhere from 5-10 mins. It's happening irrespective of map size.

The game has become unplayable in its current state.

This is not an issue with my computer's hardware, and i have tested processor affinity, priorities, minimal graphics settings, and near render distance with absolutely no change in the issue stated above.

    System specs:

    Toshiba A200 Vista 32bit
    standalone client
    4gb ram
    128mb Ati Radeon mobility 5700
    1.66ghz intel centrino dualcore processor

Edit: a reinstall of Java seems to have corrected a large part of the problem. The game is lagging infrequently now. I would consider it normal. (the simplest solutions are the ones that work sometimes.)
