Are you ever going to make it so that different breeds can have a puppy?
Sorry for the lack of anything lately. We've been busy with work and life and etc. Stuff should settle down somewhat soon and we hope to have some updates out.
Advanced skill features and etc. are definitely in the works. The best option right now for the whistle would be set the config option so that you don't need it. We may add an option for an alternative recipe later.
We are planning on having some of the stats/skills trainable.
No, sorry. There's too much custom logic that goes into the dogs, and overriding vanilla classes is complicated and ill-advised. Mods that I know of that add features to wolves do it by replacing the wolves, which make them incompatible with other mods that do the same thing. We're always open to be swayed by popular opinion, but at this point I don't think the benefit would be worth the extra effort and additional challenges. Particularly since this mod is about domestic dogs, which make sense for training, whereas wolves really don't. That's not even to say that it would really be doable, just that I haven't tried.
Short answer, because the code bases are so different it would literally be the same thing as maintaining two different mods. If we're going to do that, it will be DoggyStyle and KittyStyle, not DoggyStyle for 1.7.10 and DoggyStyle for 1.8. "Is it that hard?" Yes. "Does it cost money?" It takes a tremendous amount of time, so essentially yes.
It would be awesome to do this full-time, but then we wouldn't be able to eat. If anyone's interested in helping us to be able to contribute more time to this, we have a Patreon on the main post. (shameless plug)
There's lots of support for Forge on their forums if you're having trouble getting a specific version to work. Although it's basically just run the installer, so if 1.8 works it would be weird to have problems with 1.7.10.
This is correct. Perhaps critical bug fixes, but adding features to two versions and trying to make them the same? No thanks.
Some of the dogs mistakenly have 3 for all their stats, and a speed of 3 is stupid slow. We will fix this.
I probably neglected something in the method that creates the item from the broken block. I'll take a look at that. Collars could be a texture problem, I'll investigate that too. That seems oddly specific, but I'll look into it. Thanks for the feedback. I've logged all these issues for investigation.
For the people who are having this issue, do you have the Version Checker mod? Also screenshots would be helpful in tracking down the issue.
This is correct. Minecraft worlds are dangerous and mothers will protect their puppies until they're big enough to defend themselves. Also it's a realism feature, as newborn puppies should be with their mothers for 8-12 weeks. We only make you wait several minutes.
Hopefully I covered most of the questions. Thanks for the users who are answering questions when you know the answers. One final thing, pugs. Do people even really like pugs? I'm not getting that impression. (joke) We will make pugs. They're actually almost done.
i think you guys should add a crib for the little kids because in 1.8 you cant see them in the bed
In 1.8 how do i arrange a marriage whenever i gift a villager a ring it says i only have one even though i have two???
can you have twins in 1.7.10?
