Seed: New Heaven
Minecraft: 1.4.5 /World Type: Default
This seed was posted here a few days ago. The spawn is right next to a very large NPC village. I don't remember if it has all possible buildings or not. (It is possible for a village to have all 4 special buildings: church, library, smith and bar. I am not aware of anyone keeping track of villages that do.)

Nov 24, 2012Nice find! From spawn, if you go to the ocean and head right along the shore you will soon hear the sound of flowing water, where the sea flows into a hole just barely off the shore. Jump into the waterfall and it will take you to another one which in turn will take you down to the lava level.Posted in: Seeds

You are partially correct. 1.4.5 is not supported yet, and this is indicated on the first page of this thread by SkiDoodle himself. There is also information on the same page that tells you what AMIDST can find. If you look, you will see that the Nether Fortress is not on the list. AMIDST only locates surface structures and strongholds. With all due respect, please read the first page before you post your question.
Overall good information, but that list is lacking. AMIDST calls it the netherhold layer.
(For building a nether portal, remember that there is a coordinate translation between the overworld and the nether, so the display AMIDST gives is misleading.)

I downloaded the ad-free under the windows section. I updated java. It still gives me this error. "AMIDST ran in JAR mode without -noverify! Use: Java -noverify -jar AMIDST.jar"
On a secondary note, would having metallurgy or extrabiomesXL interfere with this? o-o I really want to find some mushroom biomes to build my primary house upon, and just wandering around to find one is such a crap shoot, even with Rei's minimap installed. Help please?
Edit: I should note I tried the solution immediately above me, making the text file, using a .BAT version of it. I did read it, and it didn't help. Mine says AMIDST.exe, I downloaded it under windows, ad free, on the first page, it doesn't say .jar, and it gives me that error.
I wish I could help you but I have no idea what causes that weird error message.
Also, the point of the ExtraBiomes mod is to modify the way the world generator works? I would frankly be very surprised if it was compatible with AMIDST.
Do you have an established world you are looking for a MushroomIsland? Or are you open to creating a new one? If so, there are several well-known seeds with a spawn at or close to one. You may need to disable the ExtraBiomes mod at first though. Here are some seeds with MushroomIsland biomes a little ways away from spawn:
head south ~50 blocks from the spawn island for the first one
Seed: New Life
head northeast ~700 blocks from the spawn peninsula
Seed: Surrender to Hope
head southeast ~200 blocks from the ocean-side spawn
head east ~1100 blocks for a larger one

Give TenPaces a try. I think it might work well for you.
Edit: also you might try this one.

Minecraft: 1.4.2 World Type: default
From the spawn area head north through the forest and over the hills. When you come to the plains you should be able to see the NPC village. The roads aren't perfect but they aren't as bad as some.
Yes, there are actually small deserts and swamps within a day's journey. Minecraft will always generate them, but maybe they are enough out of your way?
Nov 6, 2012Speaking of lava pools, someone posted a very nice seed where just across the river from spawn is a desert with a lava pool.Posted in: Seeds
World Type: default
Spawn biome: forest
There is also plains, mountains, taiga, swamp and jungle not too far away.
Nov 1, 2012First off, you need a "compatible" world generator to what they used. To keep it simple that means the same:Posted in: Seeds
* minecraft version and
* world type
For example, if they talk about a witches hut but you use Minecraft 1.3.2 then you won't get the hut. Or if you use the default world type but they used large biomes then you won't generate the same world.
The other thing to check is that you use exactly the same seed. Uppercase/lowercase matters. A leading negative sign matters. Sometimes copy/paste will add an extra space at the end. If they gave a number you can use the /seed command to compare your new world with the one they had.

everything looks great except the removal of single player. I love being able to play without worrying about horrid latency. I look at multiplayer bugs and cringe. I can't fight, because my attacks don't register until the mob has attacked me twice, I can't place blocks because they spaz out, it's almost unplayable!
but I'm stuck with it because I know every map from here on will use those book+quills for notes. >.<
The release notes are not very clear about it, but in 12w21b single-player is running as a single process again. It's been working pretty well for me (my laptop is 2006 vintage.) Give it a try.
