In my 1.7 world I had villages everywhere. Maybe I just got lucky.
Hopefully this thread is in the right place. I've been playing Minecraft since Alpha. The last new world I created was when 1.7 was released. Recently I started a new world in 1.8. I played for a while, then went looking for a village and found none. Not in the plains, not in the desert. I generated the world with structures ON, and found abandoned mineshafts and dungeons, but no village. I used the AMIDST tool, which showed me that I was surrounded by villages, but they didn't actually exist in my game. So something is wrong, and I'm looking for help! Thanks in advance.
One thing that annoys me greatly.....it is ROGUE, not ROUGE. Rouge is a color.
Rouge is actually a type of cosmetic, to put color in one's face. Wait... this is hard-core playing??? Bandits have time to powder up??? No wonder they're easily ditched.
The trees are okay, but I thought the birch logs would look better than they do. In the default texture pack, they look kind of like cowhide, gives a hokey sort of Western feel. I prefer the darker fir tree wood accenting the original wood.
Just curious about something, do squids spawn when you are on peaceful? I haven't seen one yet and the only times I have seen someone else find one is when they were not on peaceful. Sorry if this has already been asked but it might be related. Could mean that squids would attack in the future.
I've had a lot of squid mobs in my peaceful world, in shallow lakes. I see them as an infestation because, well, they're ugly. However, I also have a lot of shallow lakes with no squid mobs, so who knows what their favored conditions are?
Playing in my peaceful, build & test world and realizing I forgot to turn the game option off from 'hard'!
Just kidding.
Really, the scariest moment for me was when I finally downloaded the Halloween update. I had held off because I kept reading that the lag was bad, and lag for me was already bad. So when I updated, I was afraid it might be unplayable and I'd have to say goodbye to Minecraft.
In game, after I started a new world and updated with the Halloween update, I was mining in my branch mine that has some very long tunnels, and I was certain I saw someone way at the end, walking away from me. I ran after him/her, and there was nothing. But more than once I was sure I saw someone, always at the end of a long tunnel, always walking away. Creepy.
A long time ago i made a cool voting area with voting ability and judge seat and everything. it used a gold and diamond floor which i think looked nice.
This. Diamond always goes with gold. Always.
But... voting area? Judge? What's that about? I fear the day the non-hostile mobs will put me in the dock. Too many lost to my fires, too many injured on the cactus, too many left in the trenches, too much demand for feathers... the list goes on. Then they feed me to the creepers, or throw me in their handy non-mob trap, made of obsidian and lava, made just for me.
I'm the opposite. I view all trees as truffula trees that must be axed. Sheep's wool produces thneeds, and thneeds we all need. I view every mob I kill as a Lorax. My only regret is that I can't wield an axe in one hand and a sword in the other. Double time!
That method isn't flawless though. I believe the 2x1x2 veins can still hide in it, unless someone has proven then the veins are always 2x2x2 minimum.
Come to think of it, I heard that rumor floating around, but I've never actually seen anyone say it with confidence.
I'm pretty confident. I do my tunnels 3 high to see 5 levels at a time, but that's a nit. When I started this method, I used cartographer to see if I had gotten all of the diamonds. The only ones I missed were either very low (amongst the adminium), or a random diamond here and there. When I used cartographer to find those random diamonds, I'd only find 2 diamonds, stacked, in the middle wall. If I use this method to mine levels 5-9 and 10-14, and make the tunnels long enough (usually 10 on each side of the staircase - 5 each direction - and each one at least 40 long), I always end up with 20+ diamonds And a lot of other ores. And a cavern here and there.
BUT, I only do that when I feel like mining. It can get tedious.

Streetlights are a nice idea, as are chandeliers. Makes me wish we could build gold/iron fences.

I agree. Or dull, non-variegated gravel. It doesn't look very interesting, my opinion.
