Thats a vanilla minecraft bug that I believe Mojang fixed in the 1.8.1 previews.

You're right. Just looked it up on the mojang site and found it. I'm so glad to know they fixed it! I appreciate the heads up on that.

So this has been happening to me ever since the snapshots for 1.8 a month plus ago. Seems to be a huge issue with rendering. So when i press F5 to switch the cameras out and go back to first person view mostly everything in front of me disappears until i move the mouse and then everything appears. Goes the same for the front person view, when i press f5 without moving the mouse nothing appears. It's all generated and such but F5 causes it to disappear. Surely i'm not the only one having this issue. Using newest gtx 970 drivers. I would appreciate any help on this.

Think of these as a before and after. before moving the mouse nothing is there and then when i move the mouse everything magically appears. Had done a full delete of the minecraft folder with a fresh optifine install and still didn't work.

Java 9 gives a definite increase, there's no doubt about that. A few command-line commands have been removed in 9, but that's purely because they're not needed anymore. I was also on 8u40 before I moved up to 9, and went back to 8 earlier to test with this version of optifine. 9 gives me around a 20% boost in FPS and removes almost all input lag (Most of the stuttering in-game in 1.8 is actually lack of response to input, the game continues at a high FPS but you're stuck unable to control yourself for short periods of time. That's the case for me, anyway)

I appreciate that info. Looking forward to getting 9 on my machine then. i do enjoy when new java version builds come out on this site. Always look forward to seeing some sort of difference.

Never before have I had such a huge FPS gain from optifine. From 5-10 to 40-80 FPS in 1.8, I'm actually quite amazed. I've never reached that FPS in any previous version (View Distance 8, smooth chunckloading, Fast Render, Fast Math, Smooth Lighting off, Use VBOs on, Fast)

Also, I'm currently using Java 9, from Oracle's Project Kenai along with manually updated libraries and a few adjustments via commandline

One of the few issues i've found is water flow updates; when breaking a block next to water, the game lags when updating the water flow. This is unrelated to the water particles issue (I have them turned off)

Also, true to Sp614x's post, the GC does take a minute or two to stabilize, allocating 1GB is a good idea

So i've been using java 8 from the same page basically. I've been using the early access releases and update it each time a new build comes out. Can you say that java 9 works better than these 8 versions? I'm currently using 8 update 40 b11. I might want to jump to 9 and see how it is. Nice to know other people are using the most up to date javas that mostly nobody uses yet.

Seeing sp614x post that made me realize how much hard work goes into it. I know a lot of work goes into it but seeing him post that detailed info about it made me realize that he's working his butt off. I always appreciated optifine but i appreciate it much more now. My pc has been decent without optifine but overall it does stabilize mostly everything. I do have to say though that 1.8 has run the best without optifine since probably version 1.2.5. 1.3 and up is when i started noticing performance decrease when not using optifine. Using the alpha versions though actually make it run a little better than vanilla 1.8. I cannot wait for it to be fully done.

ONE PROBLEM WITH 1.8 SINCE PRE-VERSIONS I THINK (STILL IN OPTIFINE!!!)

When i press F5 to see my back and then again to see my front, a lot of the map around my character doesn't display until i move the mouse. This is a serious issue for me atleast. i can't imagine i'm the only one though. I can see it being an issue for probably everyone. My machine is up to date and i keep it very clean. Noticed it on the latest java 7 version but now im on java 8 update 40. Preview version of java that minecraft seems to run very good on. I can verify it's not java 8. Anybody have any recomendations? I will say i haven't tried the 1.8.1 versions yet though.

Thanks so much for the continued support. Glad someone was able to pick up on it and continue. For now, i don't have any suggestions. I'm just happy to use it again being up to date and such. Looking forward to your future updates and changelogs. ^_^

I have been having this issue recently too. I play at the middle render distance at far and the normal chunks at a distance don't always load until i get closer than i normally would have to. I didn't know errors would still occur while playing though. I will check that unless i misread that. I always thought that you would get errors if it only crashed. I don't get any crashes though. I could always try wiping clean the appdata folder once i save everything and start from scratch with setting up minecraft and see if it helps.

I recently updated to 1.7.10, and with it, I went back to Forge now that there's a mod I wish to use (Better Foliage). So I am using Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge (7.10.11.1170), OptiFine (HD A4 Ultra for Minecraft 1.7.10), and the Better Foliage mod. I now have chunks randomly not loading all over.
