Awesome! another minecrafter working on a medieval city much like myself (only two different biomes lol) I am a little saddened that you're using world edit to copy and paste the towers, but it's your city so I wont criticize that lol. I'll follow this so I can see how you're coming along, and if you have questions what so ever feel free to let me know. As I said, we're in the same boat lol

I've decided to start working on a project. I'd never built anything huge before and I thought it was about time. I loaded up a new world and began working on a medieval town.
Please leave your ideas for buildings, and feedback so I will stop being awful at building!
Update - The Docks!
Part 1 - Set Up
First I had to find a place to build, it had to be large and flat-ish as I planned on making it huge. This is what I found:
Next I laid out the boundaries. Eventually this is where the wall will be:
With this in place it was time to build my first structure.
Part 2 - The Guard Tower
On each of the corners there would be a large guard tower. I began working on one, and later will copy and paste it to the other corners using world edit (When the stupid thing updates).
Setup
A made the base a circle from which the bottom potion would be built:
I built it up using this wall design:
Until all sides were complete:
Once this bottom section was done I moved on up to the taller, thinner section. I used a similar design for the walls and built it up. Like last time there was a layer of spruce wood behind the stone bricks.
It was then time to make a roof, after much trial and error I got this:
I made the inside look not awful, made some finishing touches and was done!
Finished
Later I will copy and paste this to the other corners, but before that I’m gonna build something else; so please leave your ideas for buildings as well as feedback so I can improve!
The Docks
Boardwalk:
Shed for new arrivals of resources. Anything imported via sea comes here:
Many businesses in the town get their resources from here. They can place their order at this shed, and then when a shipment comes they can pick up what they need.
This is what it looks like now, but it was lacking something, that something was the ground:

This is a small video that see's if blocky sheep can teach us anything about real life.
