Aug 10, 2012Ok guys, so many of you have requested that I make a tutorial for a house that I built, so I gave in, and here it is! Sorry if I skip around a bit, this is my first tutorial.Posted in: Creative Mode
Place Spruce logs facing upwards in this pattern, which is 17 X 17, including the log in the middle, and the two logs at the bottom.
Stack 3 more logs on top of each of these, to make them 4 blocks high.
Connect these logs together at the top in this pattern, with the logs facing sideways.
Now stack 4 more on top of these, in this pattern, which will become our second floor.
Connect these at the top, just like in step 3.
Stack 5 more logs on top of these.
Once again, top it off!
Add 5 more logs on top of this, then top it off again.
Now for the roof! I'm sorry if this gets confusing, it's hard describing it with screenshots.
Right here, you will build a triangular shape on top of this, to support the roof.
Do this now on the top!
Now we start working on the roof. We want a slight overhang, so build the cobble steps over 1 block. (I changed texture packs so that you could see what materials I'm using.
Now we'll build the rest of the roof. On the top most part of this roof, you'll put half slabs down, and to build that arching part on the end, you put an upside down half slab on the overhang, then put stairs on it. Now do this on the other roof, except perpendicular to it!
When you come to a weird shape like this in the roof, replace that stair with a full cobble block.
This is what your house should look like when you're done with the roofing:
Start filling in every floor with upside down half slabs! This will create a very nice look from the floor below.
This is what it should look like when finished:
Now for the walls!
Fill in the outside of the bottom floor with stone brick, all the way around, except at the main entrance, where the door will be.
Then you'll put 4 cobble in each section, with glass panes inbetween.
This is what it'll look like when you're done:
Now on the next floor, just create the walls like in the screenshot, except leave open holes for the doorways to the porch, and the balcony.
The finished effect for this floor:
Now, for the next floor, you'll just fill in 2 of the walls w/ cobble like this:
Then with the other two walls, you'll make them like this:
Now, this next screenshot applies for each space under the roof. Be sure to do this with all 4 of them. This is how you'll fill it in:
Now, for the final floor, you'll just create the walls like this, on every wall:
FINISHED HOUSE: (Be sure to add the fences and doors, and add the doorway for the 1st floor in the style of the walls)
I hope that you've found this tutorial helpful! I haven't done the inside, but you can design it anyway you like. With the tower part, I just built a spiraling staircase up that has landings at every floor.
I hope you've been able to understand this tutorial, and feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
