posted a message on Strawberry Jam V3 - A CTM Map Building Jam! Jam #17 over - check out the maps!

    A Fetid Soul

Aah yes, I should probably post this here as well. This map is a relatively traditional CTM, and is an exploration of a couple of nightmarish themed areas, as you would expect from a nightmare themed jam. Anyways, hope you enjoy it!

    Pictures:

This map was made for version 1.12+, and it contains 3 wool. It shouldn't be too long, and the gameplay is fairly traditional for a CTM.

    Valley of the Sealed Bastion

Okay, okay, we're dirty cheaters and this map was released a whole day late! Wasn't really planned that way, but that's what happened. Anyways, this map is a collaboration between myself and Vehudur (lessinath on the forums). Also, we got some great help from Teewie and Omegaplayer - thanks guys!

    Pictures:

This is a map for 1.12 containing 6 wool for you to find in the world, as well as 13 other side objectives (4 meownument pictures, and 9 slimeballs to craft a slime block). Anyways, please feel free give Vehudur or I (or even both of us!) your thoughts on the map! Enjoy!

posted a message on Fornan's Map Collection

Welcome to my collection of maps! Most of what you find here will be CTM maps, but hopefully one day this thread will be home to maps from a myriad of genres. Anyways, have a look around and see what catches your fancy.

    IMPORTANT:

Minecraft Forums is going to be archived soon, and I will no longer be able to update this post. I will instead be hosting information on my maps on my website, which you can find here: https://fornan-ii.github.io/.

    Recently Released:

    Kitten's Revolt

This map was a collaborative project made by Tala, Athena, Teewie, Deneb, PearUhDox, 8lam, Omegaplayer, and myself!

This is an 8 objective CTM that was a large collaborative effort! I am just one of the mapmakers on this project, but definitely check it out because everybody did some really good work on this, and it came out quite well! Note that it is still in open beta, and that feedback is greatly appreciated!

    Standalone Maps

    Appetent Synapse

This map was made for the CTMC advent project in 2017. For the month of December, every few days, a new one objective CTM was released. We had several months to prepare our maps, and this map was published on December 9th, 2017.

This map is a one objective CTM made for version 1.12+ This is a high-action, fast-paced map all about running and jumping and slaying monsters in a cyberpunk metropolis. This map is different from your typical CTM, geared towards speedrunning and utilizes several custom mechanics that make it unique.

NOTE: In the current version of this map, I've heard multiple accounts of players missing a very important chest near the beginning of the map, in a big blue capsule in the middle of a room. Missing this chest fundamentally changes the way the map plays, so keep your eyes out for that big blue capsule. In the future I hope to patch the map to make this something that can't be missed.

    Strawberry Jam Maps

What is a Strawberry Jam you ask? It's a mapmaking jam where you have to build a CTM map with at least 3 objectives over the course of 72 hours! Check out the jam here!

    The Broken Goddess

This map was made for Strawberry Jam 12: Heartbroken.

    Pictures:

The map was made for 1.10.2, has 3 wool, and is fairly tough on account of resource scarcity.

    The Discarded World

This map was made for Strawberry Jam 13: Eyesore. Yes, eyesore. This was the April Fools theme, and the goal was to make a map that played very well, but looked very ugly. So good luck to your eyeballs!

The great gods have toiled for eons creating beautiful worlds that strike awe into the creatures they bless to live there in harmony. Well, of course the gods did need to practice their world crafting first, and many worlds and beings have been scrappedrejected along the way. You are one such being, tossed aside by the heavens and forgotten in an abandoned world. Do what you must to escape, to prove to the gods that you are more than just a mistake to be tossed aside.

This is a 3 wool CTM map for 1.11.2, although there are 4 areas to conquer total. A major part of this map are some mechanics I introduce that manipulate the players gamemode. The mechanics are intended to add an interesting additional layer to CTM's normal gameplay. Hopefully that's the case. I would say the map is a moderate-to-hard difficulty, depending on how quickly (or maybe how creatively?) you pick up on the new mechanics.

The current version (1.5.8, posted May 11th) is an overhaul in the balance department of the map. The originally released version had some major design flaws that made half of the map unfairly difficult, and honestly not very fun. I felt the map's mechanics were interesting enough however that it could actually be fun if they were given proper time and care. As such, I've gone over the map and heavily rebalanced large portions of it, as well as giving it some proper playtesting (thanks @BSM!) so that the map might actually be fun to play! That all said, the map is still challenging, but now at the very least it should be a fair challenge. Good luck!

    Other Projects

Here's a couple of other projects that I've been apart of that you could totally check out!

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    In Progress Projects

    • Mini-golf CTM!

Yep, you read that right, a Mini-Golf CTM. This is going to be an 18 objective map (that's completely multiplayer compatible!) where you must golf your hardest to complete all 18 holes on the golf course... and complete the monument. Featuring golf courses from a multitude of CTM mapmakers, this map will be the greatest Golf/CTM hybrid the world has ever seen. And also maybe the only Golf/CTM hybrid, but don't mind that part.

    • Beyond Eldspar Veil

This is a mini-map where you and your horse explore these forbidden lands and maybe even unlock the ancient, forgotten power locked away here, beyond the Eldspar Veil.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Oh, and one last thing...

Like CTM maps? Doesn't matter how; playing, making, ogling, you name it. Well if you do you should check out the CTM Community Discord server as it has a pretty active and friendly community revolving around the genre.

I've kept all the old edits here, but I'm just going to hide them behind this spoiler wall.

Edit: So I just started a full run through of the map and I encountered a bug I thought I fixed already that makes the part of the adventure dungeon where you're in a spherical room divided by a void pit impossible to complete. I've updated the download to a patched version. However, if you downloaded the map before April 11th and don't want to restart the map, you can just run the two commands in the following spoiler. You will need to enable cheats and run them from a command block.

    /setblock 44 12 531 minecraft:mob_spawner 0 replace {SpawnData:{id:"minecraft:zombie",CustomName:"Tomb Builder",ArmorItems:[{},{id:leather_leggings,Count:1b,tag:{AttributeModifiers:[{AttributeName:"generic.movementSpeed",Name:"generic.movementSpeed",Amount:-0.05,Operation:0,UUIDLeast:898798,UUIDMost:314477,Slot:"legs"}],display:{Name:"Thrall's Trousers"},ench:[{id:7,lvl:1}]}},{},{id:hay_block,Count:1b,tag:{CanPlaceOn:["minecraft:hay_block","minecraft:bedrock"],CanDestroy:["minecraft:hay_block"]}}],HandItems:[{id:hay_block,Count:1b},{}],ArmorDropChances:[0.085F,0.085F,0.085F,0.4F],HandDropChances:[0.0F,0.085F]}}

    /setblock 58 12 531 minecraft:mob_spawner 0 replace {SpawnData:{id:"minecraft:zombie",CustomName:"Tomb Builder",ArmorItems:[{},{id:leather_leggings,Count:1b,tag:{AttributeModifiers:[{AttributeName:"generic.movementSpeed",Name:"generic.movementSpeed",Amount:-0.05,Operation:0,UUIDLeast:898798,UUIDMost:314477,Slot:"legs"}],display:{Name:"Thrall's Trousers"},ench:[{id:7,lvl:1}]}},{},{id:hay_block,Count:1b,tag:{CanPlaceOn:["minecraft:hay_block","minecraft:bedrock"],CanDestroy:["minecraft:hay_block"]}}],HandItems:[{id:hay_block,Count:1b},{}],ArmorDropChances:[0.085F,0.085F,0.085F,0.4F],HandDropChances:[0.0F,0.085F]}}

Edit 2: So it turns out when I uploaded that last patch I forgot to toggle the switch that makes it so when you're in spectator mode you can actually go back to survival mode. So, the download has been updated as of April 13th. I also tweaked some things (most notably I added a keepInventory option) to make the map less stupidly difficult at points.

Now, if you don't want to redownload/restart the map AGAIN, then you can just run this one command and and it will fix the spectator bug:

    /blockdata -21 7 22 {auto:1b}

Here's to no more critical bugs!

Edit 3: Well, there's no more "critical bugs", but the overall design in some areas (spectator dungeon, I'm looking at you) are... severely lacking. I plan on spending some time soon redesigning a multitude of the areas in the map, and creating something much more polished than what is currently released. I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing, but I'm particularly fond of the mechanical concepts in this map, and I think without a time restraint they could be implemented in a way that is actually enjoyable and worth playing.

Edit: I guess it's not too hard, maybe I'm just bad at video games or something.

Edit 2: Well, I had to re-upload the map because I managed to forget to turn on a singular, critical command block. Whoopsy! If you don't want to re-download the map, you can just run this command instead: "/blockdata 12 56 11 {auto:1b}".

posted a message on Temple of Zerone

Hey there - I don't usually make a response to too many adventure maps, but I just finished the map (secrets and all) and I just wanted to express how thoroughly I enjoyed it. The mechanics were all fairly original and differentiated, yet still worked together quite well. The pacing of the puzzles was great; every mechanic was introduced slow enough to give the player a proper grip, yet fast enough to give the player a good sense of possibility space that, by the end of each section, was pretty fully realized.

Now, the difficulty wasn't too hard, but it wasn't so easy that I could predict how an entire area might play out by the end of it. Part of what made this map so enjoyable was simply learning the mechanics and waiting in anticipation for what interesting new interaction of mechanics was coming up next. I feel very few Minecraft Adventure maps deliver an experience like that, either being too rooted in normal Minecraft mechanics or too focused on finding the toughest challenge of one or two mechanics (not that those aren't bad to have). When I started the purple area and saw it was parkour, I was at first a little disappointed that just basic parkour would be the theme of the dungeon, particularly when I saw the floating glass panes that looked like a difficult parkour path to a chest. But, because of the precedents set throughout the map, I had faith that something would come along and mix it up; and you absolutely delivered.

Anyways, I think I started rambling on in this a little, but I'd just like to say I really enjoyed the map and I look forward to any future maps you might make!

posted a message on WorldPainter - graphical & interactive map creator/generator

I did some experimentation with the populate layer recently, and I figured out a way to control what features it will generate! For instance, you can disable the water and lava lakes that Minecraft generates. I figured I'd post it here since it's a solution to one of the FAQs on the website.

I was wondering if there was still anyone else who was interested in fan-continuing this pack? As you can see from my one other post in this thread, I've been adding textures that were missing, but I'm not much of an artist so I was wondering if anyone wanted to throw some ideas at the pack. I really love this pack and I'd hate to see it die and disappear.

Also, since my last post, I've worked on a few more textures, most significantly being the textures for villagers/witches/zombie villagers.

posted a message on [WIP thread] Distant Anomaly -Revival- [1.6.4] - VERSION 3: Sandstone, Bricks, Quartz and more
I've been working on an addon pack that adds a few textures and puts some filler textures in for textures that were missing in v4. I also added on the language pack. I'm not much of an artist, so the textures that I made myself may not be the best, but I think they're decent.

    Full list of additions:

    • Cobblestone re-added
    • Dispenser/Dropper/Furnace textures
    • Colored Glass
    • Iron Trapdoor
    • Lava(Filler)
    • Added old netherack texture
    • Added old obsidian texture
    • Modified all quartz textures (including ore)
    • Finished all missing rails (and removed yellow stripes from v4's normal rails)
    • Added old sand texture as red sand
    • Fixed redstone (made it red), including dust, torches, repeaters, and added ore.
    • Slimeblock(Filler)
    • Added old sponge texture
    • Chiseled stone bricks
    • Added old mossy stone bricks
    • Added old water texture
    • Trap chests
    • Wither skeleton(filler)
    • Fixed zombie and zombie pigman textures
    • Added chest GUI
    • Iron door item texture
    • Gold Sword(By Shilohturtle)
