well, they have quite a few crap operating systems, with only 2 or three good ones
AHCI to IDE in the BIOS causes 0x0000007b or unmountable/unreadable boot volume (I can't remember exactly which)
it was set to AHCI when I installed it, and every time I ran it
(I run an EFI install with windows 7 and ubuntu and occasionally mint, so that could be the AHCI problem)
as for "linux is not a replacement for windows" crap, Linux has equivilents for almost every windows app (libreoffice, banshee media player, etc)and I only use winderps for games that require it (cube world, MechWarrior Online, etc)
I ROFL'd at this, heartily. Such foolishness and a hilarious amount of ignorance and fanboyism.

Did you hear that? Stallman is calling for people like you

What do you mean by "Safe Mode: doesn't give the option"? Just press F8 while on the splash screen.
You should probably stop posting irrelevant, and terrible "advice" in every single thread.

    Protip.

An I have no idea on that other part. Linux is NOT A replacement to Windows. Each was designed for it's own purposes.
Clearly if something is wrong with the computer, it's the fault of greedy, dirty M$.

Like who the FM you seem to worship, the fact you and other rely on people like FM to form opinions on things for you shows exactly why this section went down hill.

Do you think we are wrong if so why?

But forming our own opinions is haaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrdddddd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"like dude, Microsoft is dropping support for XP, they are totally forcing us to upgrade, we aren't going to stand for it, I'm switching to Ubuntu, because for some reason needing to perform a clean install of the new version every 6 months is preferable to upgrading a 13-year old OS. "

"Yeah! Let's stick it where it hurts and then say they asked for it By the way they dress!"

    "Yea... wait what?"
"Think about it bro, We're gonna stick it to the 'man' and make M$ bleed. Didn't you hear? Games getting linux support, steamOS and windows XP dying is going to be a deathblow to M$! FREE AS IN FREEDOM!"

"Oh yeah totally, bro. Now lets kiss."

If "fine" is considerably slower than it is 95% of the time, than oh yay! I must be frolicking in fields of wheat on a nice spring day in the sunshine, then.
Sometimes Usually, ISPs do not give advertised speeds. This is why it is listed as "up to 15mbps". "Up to" means anything between 0 and the number listed, so it is still technically correct.

Your internet is working fine, if you want to call your ISP and complain feel free but they wouldn't care.

I have 128 Kbps and you have like 1Mbps minimum.....YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL THAT YOU EVEN HAVE min 1Mbps in the first place!!!

Also waiting a little bit more than usual isn't a problem you know, but you could try calling your ISP technician.
If you have 128kbps internet, you either don't live in a first world country, or you are for some reason still using dialup/tier 1 DSL.

Last I heard, it wasn't in every state. Is it really illegal in all the US now?
It's illegal at the federal level.

    Not that it's enforced.

Your internet is fine. 15Mbps down and 4Mbps up is comcast's standard "blast!" plan. You obviously won't get exactly that, but anywhere between 8-15Mbps down and 2-5Mbps up is normal.

    Blast!+ is 24ish down 6 up (what I have).

Lower ping is better, the "ms" is how many miliseconds it takes to contact the server.

posted a message on Would purchasing a sound card improve these headphones?
I think you confused him by just saying "DAC", which is redundant.

I can't think of a single sound card, hell, not even a single consumer motherboard that does not have an onboard DAC. They have been standard for quite a long time now, nearing 8 years I think.

Mind explaining why having two antiviruses running at the same time is a mistake?
Because they can conflict, they cause unnecessary bloat, and they may pick each other up as malware causing install corruption that you wouldn't immediately notice, usually disabling the scanner meaning you don't notice it broke until you get infected.

They've always played well together and detected the same problems, and I only scan with one.

You should never use more than 1 AV at all.
Just like you should never use more than the windows firewall.

Call comcast and get a tech over.

Their lowest plan is 5x the speed you are getting, and if you are really getting 5mbps upload you should be getting 15-20 mbps download, as that is how their plans scale.

posted a message on Why is linux so bad for gaming?
    Quote from SpartanBlockhead

The majority of those seem pretty bad and you could easily make it cheaper, but some seem too good to be true, especially the CyberPower one. $500 seems extremely cheap for an i5/R9-270 HTPC build. In attempting to match it, I went over $500 with just the CPU, HDD, GPU, and motherboard.
Prices are subject to change and only estimates/examples from CES.

Even if the monitor does not support it, that does not stop the cable from carrying both audio and digital signals.
