I never criticized the army. Their sacrifice is far greater. But the moderators here sink time into addressing complaints and adhering to the rules. They don't have to do that. They could just enjoy the forum like the rest of us. Instead, they put in extra time to ensure the forum they enjoy is top notch. That is a sacrifice of their time, even if not the biggest, and they should never be considered "lazy."

What an unbelievably stupid and greedy thing to do, criticizing a site run by volunteers, who have sacrificed so much time and even funds to this community.

What are the server gamemodes? Is it a minigame server, survival server, factions server, etc. I think putting that information in the OP would go a long way.
Regardless I'll beta test because I've never done it before and it sounds interesting.

Thanks for providing input, though in the future it would be best to keep all ideas here while the doc remains more of a "finalized ideas" area. As for the idea, we agreed that mammoths should be removed as they aren't very useful or original. Unfortunately that makes your idea redundant. I've been keeping them on the doc out of a small hope something cool will come up for them, but maybe its time to remove them. Unless someone can think up a reason to keep them around...
I second this.
The copper broomstick sounds great, much more original and useful compared to muskets or crossbows. My one (small) concern is that people might be confused by the word broomstick. Does anyone want to tackle drawing the 16 x 16 item for it?

That's enough to differentiate them as a separate "race", such as Villagers vs Illagers. But Tundrans are from an entirely different dimension. It'd be like blue skinned humans living on Mars, with their culture somewhat unique but rooted to basic human culture. Tundrans really should have a different model and appearance. Unless...
How about the villagers that live in the Frist do not originate their? They are colonists from the Overworld who like the player are settling somewhere else. They would have a paler skin, moustaches, and wintry clothing. They're a lot tougher than the regular Villagers, as the environment is more dangerous and there are no iron golems who came with them.
Perhaps the Engineer comes from a very ancient race whom have died out long ago. But in their final act the creators disabled the Engineer. Unfortunately the pesky colonist found the Gear and accidently turned it on, dooming their settlement until the player comes to help.
This would solve the "moddy" issue, and make Tundran-Player relations make more sense. Trading ships could also be populated by a few colonists, but they should be rare and the only hints of the colonists besides the gear biome.
For the weapon, I think the Tundrans should have crossbows, which would function just as steam66 suggested for muskets only that they aren't muskets. Wait a few seconds, then click quickly once to fire an arrow in a straight direction (faster and longer range, at the cost of a shorter reload). They should be uncraftable besides bartering with Tundrans.

I don't think this fits into vanilla. We haven't had any "hidden block" enemy yet, and I think that's for a reason. Especially grass, which is abundant. Grass is supposed to be a safe block that you have around your house, but with mean grass you'd always be scared just walking around in daylight. Mean grass making an appearance might scare younger players, and you'd never have grass outside your home because that invites mean grass to attack. Lastly, "mean grass" is a silly name. How about a rare mob that acts as a sort of chameleon, becoming one of the nearby blocks? It makes more sense as a transforming monster than not nice grass (which even if it was mean shouldn't be able to attack you, yes even though its a game this bothers me for some reason).

The triple postings...
I don't think the entrance should we steampunk themed, while it would be interesting for the Engineers to be working towards invading the Overworld they first need to take the Frist. This would be the player's first impression on the frost world, so steampunk might not make sense.
After some thought, while an ocean portal would be interesting it doesn't really fit (water auto freezes in the Frist). Plus we want everyone to be able to get to the Frist on multiplayer servers (where there's limited reasources). How about a "frist teleporter" block that can be crafted and when placed creates a 2 x 1 portal? The crafting would require the drop of some naturally spawning, sort of related mob (blazes aren't related to the end but you gotta kill em to get there). And ice.
I was supporting the Tundran hiring because now that they can't trade their wasn't much use to them. Having them copy villagers feels too moddy, and if we made them unhireable might as well not have them at all.

The formatting and PLZ ADD THIS are horrendous, where have the moderators gone?
Despite the poor presentation, I do like the ideas. Most aren't new and I'm not sure could even be done, but still they'd prove useful to many. Could you provide crafting recipes to each of the new blocks?

This would be annoying. It'd force you to not use crops, and for what purpose? Snowy biomes are already in game. I'd like seasons, but only if they're balanced (the food and hunger overhaul was a good suggestion that added balanced seasons). These seasons would cause a tremendous amount of lag from the block changes, and still harm the gameplay.

Its kind of confusing now. Originally there would be no bedrock layer, and in between each floating glacier would be just air (not nitrogren sea), so you could fall of the edge. Each biome would be on one large glacier, so you'd have to build bridges between the 5-20 block gaps. Each glacier would be 64 (now 100) blocks tall so there could be deep caverns underground, but also space aboveground. They would all be level, so the surface would not change. The Misty Seas was at the same height as everything else, with Nitrogen only existing in that biome and in small ponds everywhere else.
Now.. I don't know. We can't really have the surface of biomes at y=5. Glaciers having different surfaces would be very ugly in Minecraft (just flat giant walls). And having a nitrogen border takes away the one use of the misty seas. I fear making the nitrogen sea at the surface of the biomes would make the whole dimension copy Overworld generation.

Could you add more detail? Mob drops, mob behaviors, spawnrate, health, names...

I like this a lot, more so than the rod. But instead of taking the player to a Misty Seas (which is a barren and relatively boring biome only useful for the excess nitrogen) maybe it should just send the player falling down the sky? When they are falling they have a hidden effect that grants them 100% fall damage reduction. Spawning at the nitrogen ocean would mean they'd have to build 64 blocks up to get to the actual content. A compass is interesting, but to keep it with Woodland Mansion how about a map?
Speaking on which, even though Minecraft updated from 128 to 256 blocks they haven't taken advantage of it yet, mainly because the Overworld had already been set up and they didn't want to ruin old worlds. But with an entirely new dimension, what if the Frist's surface was at 100? That ways caverns can be longer and we won't have 75 blocks of just air.

So as for Tundrans, the majority voted for them to not be NPCs. I think Tundrans should only exist in the Gear biome, and they should only appear in villages after the defeat of the Engineer. Some Tundrans would have left their settlements and gone out to the wilderness to rule in Ice Castles- these are the Barons.
As for the dimension, are we decided on Ice Trolls naturally spawning in the Overworld that drop the rod? If there are no objections I'll add it to the doc.

EDIT: This post is jumping around everywhere! Anyway after some thinking perhaps Jotuns could work as a super late-game boss, summonable at a new structure. The battle would be a legendary thing, while most people fight the others in their worlds, the Jotun would be a final fight only the most skilled can accomplish. I'd suggest they have 1,500 health.
To defeat a Jotun, you'll need enchanted diamond everything (but with good enchantments), a golem/tundren army, the use of potions and gapples, and even then it'll be tough. Maybe take a risk and summon a Wither?
For this reason, Jotuns wouldn't drop anything useful (the game isn't suggesting you fight Jotuns). Just a trophy block to show off. To summon it, combine a dragon breath with a nether star with [insert engineer drop here]. The fight needs to be 100% optional, because most won't stand a chance.

I don't know if we need a second boss though. Having half the game's bosses in an optional dimension feels counter intuitive. Would the Engineer be fought first or second? And how exactly can be get the Giant AI working? Genius said it would be comparable to the Ender Dragon in mass, but the Ender Dragon isn't a biped or 12 blocks tall.
The Gear serves as the anti-Frist, a land stricken of natural beauty. Sure the Frist is dangerous but its a balanced ecosystem. The Gear is what happens when someone tries to help themselves and in the process ruins the world from which they came. By destroying the Engineer the player saves the entire dimension from suffering a similar fate.
^Thats how you incorporate a political message Mojang. Not refusing to add things, but fitting the message around the gameplay.
Anyway I fear a boss from nature might contradict with that theme, the hostile mobs of the Frist might attack you but it's only because they need food to survive. A circle of life.

I like the overall concept, but there are some things I disagree with. Totems are just overpowered potions, and the two animals only drop meat. Maybe they could drop something else that would be useful. Lastly, I don't think evil black people would be a good idea.
There's been a recent influx of threads called "The _____ Update", and this idea isn't big enough to consider it a full update. I suggest renaming it "Savanna Improvements" or something similar.

It seems to me that the biggest issue is the lack of purpose behind the planets. I didn’t think much on a reason to go the planets besides it exploring diverse landscapes and maybe finding planets with a high diamond concentration.
So without further ado here’s a couple new reasons for coming to the planets:
• Upon traveling to a new planet, you will receive a significant amount of XP. If you are discovering the planet you will get twice as much XP.
• Aliens now occasionally drop “[name] eggs” which can be left clicked to spawn a new one of that same alien. This means you can bring back aliens to your base!
• In alien dungeons a special book unique to that planet can be found. This book can be traded to librarians for about 10 emeralds.
• Aliens also drop the item that their Overworld counterparts drop, though the quantity depends. Maybe you’ll find a creature that drops 4 bones each, in which case consider setting up a farm.
• Faction Servers would no longer be super griefed. Admins could create new planets for new adventures or just Overworld copies to keep things fresh. Or there could be faction servers where each gets its own planet!
• Mods and addons can create unique resources specific to the planets. I don’t want to add specific resources because I fear then this suggestion would become super long, jump all over the place, and in the end feel like a mod. Planets are more meant to be a blank canvas for you to do anything with. If you find a peaceful planet, consider moving your base there. Or setting up outposts across the galaxy, each for its own distinct purpose.

How about a coyote, sharing the model of a wolf but behaving a bit differently.
