Compiled from over one hundred diamond speedrun attempts. Thought this would be a fun idea for a video because all my runs lately have been failing, heh. Sorry about the sync issues later in the video, but I've compiled it four or five times and this is, sadly, the least messed up version. :tongue.gif:
I've been using the creeper method for my speedruns lately. I've only gotten diamonds from them twice, and both times were 2:30+ sadly. I've done ~125 runs using the creeper method, but it's not bad because it wastes a lot less time. I came really close to getting a time of ~1:30 but the creeper exploded prematurely. I was pretty sad.
Here are the rules I used if any of you want to try this:
- Must play on a new map with a random seed.
- You may hit escape to pause the game as soon as the game starts to allow nearby chunks to load (to minimize chunk generation lag), but you cannot look around before doing so. The speedrun starts as soon as you unpause the game, or as soon as the map loads if you choose not to pause it.
- Must play on hardcore.
- Speedrun ends the moment you obtain a diamond.

Other notes:
- Sorry that the commentary sucks. It's hard to focus on talking, and 99% of the time the videos aren't even used so yeah.
- I know the FOV sucks to watch but it helps me out a lot, so I keep it high. I've lowered it a bit recently.
- I'm aiming for a 1m30s run.
- Texture pack is Dokucraft: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/513093-10-dokucraft-the-saga-continues-32x/
Another twenty seconds up over my last record. I got this on my ninth run today, and I had only been recording for thirty minutes or so. Sorry that my commentary sucks. I was recording commentary for all my failed runs too, so yeah. Hopefully it helps prove that my runs are legit though.
Last time I said that I wasn't sure if I could do better. Actually, I'm fairly certain that a run under 1:30 is possible. I'm gunna aim for that! Also, is this the world record? I saw a video of it done in 1:53 but I'm pretty sure it's not legit...

Over 20 seconds faster than my other speedrun. I got ridiculously lucky this time; not sure if I'll be able to do better. The part where I was digging to escape and I had the thought to block off the hole above me was particularly lucky, because I was contemplating not doing so. Generally the skeleton wouldn't have pathed to me I think. Overall the run was kinda sloppy: there were parts where I messed up trying to activate sprint several times in a row (it's worth nothing that I almost died to the skeletons because of this), and also I dropped my pickaxe which lost me a second or two. Whoops.
This time I included the map generation just to help prove that it's legit. Technically I could have video edited it pretty easily still but hopefully this helps to convince everyone. It took me about 30 attempts after the last speedrun I posted to get this one. This video has had its brightness increased during the encoding process just so that everyone can see a bit easier.

- *optional* No mining to look for diamonds: diamond must be found in a cave. Mining to look for caves is acceptable.
Not the fastest time, but I thought this speedrun was worth uploading because it's a pretty exciting one. I was really surprised I didn't die, especially while I mined the actual diamond - the skeleton's arrow that should have killed me missed somehow, and the creeper that exploded on me didn't kill me either. This run was around my fiftieth attempt and is my fastest run so far by about 15 seconds.

Didn't do that much editing for this - just removed a few tracks and changed some of the block types around to make it sound a bit better. Everything I used is below. Credit goes to my boy Rick for the original song. Music is a bit glitchy in parts - not sure why, maybe just in-game lag, since chunks were loading slowly at times. I would have lowered the tempo to match the original song but the fact that notes can't be lengthened means it would have probably sounded bad. Either way, the result is alright. Might do more of these in the future if you guys are interested (not rickrolls, note block songs). Also, I think I overdid it with the size of the trollface. lol
Nice job. I always thought it was pretty dumb that you had to repeatedly place the item on the table to get a higher level enchant. I did a little mod spotlight of it here (can be seen 30s in):

Yes. Very much. :tongue.gif:
Thanks everyone. :smile.gif:
Will be posting a video that's 1 second faster soon.
