I do plan on working on a more workable multiplayer version of the map. At the moment, I'm working out most of the bugs with single-player before I jump into the project of multiplayer :)

to me, it appears that the bugs are consistent between multiplayer and singleplayer, with exception of a few instances (infinite inventory)

then again i actually havent been able to get on for the past half a week or so (D-8) but not because of a problem with the pack.

Basically, Vanilla mechanics decide if a snow golem can produce snow based on the environmental factors of the location. In this case, below y=184 in the cave dimension tells them not to produce snow. This isn't something I have programmed or even have a configuration file to change, it's just set that way by the vanilla game.

The glacial precipitater actually is meant to require snow, but after the latest round of updates Thermal Expansion changed their recipes on me and it doesn't currently require snow.. which is not intended. Again, I suggest you that you either make a snow golem above y=184 to get snow or make a glacial precipitater because you will need snow and ice in a future quest.

Alright. Does Cryotheum still work the same way it usually does?
I was thinking of making Gelid Cryotheum since it produces snow, and i could use it as some sort of moat to keep the creepers away. me and by friend had to abandon the hole we had made. we went outside, and while one of us distracted the mobs, the other nerdpoled up to a floating island formation. now we only have to worry about blazes, ghasts, and our torches going out while we try to get more pumpkins for jack o lanterns. zombies began digging into our base and nearly let a creeper in too! we still have the duck in there, so we are going to have to make a rescue attempt to save it and our chickens, pigs and other animals, although we now have a turkey. those things give sanity REALLY fast!

My suggestion is the make the glacial precipitater since this will give you snowballs anywhere and ice (for the next quests). I'm still working on the inventory issue. We may have pinned it down and hopefully the next update or 2 should fix it.

My question for you is: you keep saying your inventory gets deleted when you have unlocked slots taken away. Are you playing with keepInventory on?

The snow golem not dropping snow below y level 184 is a vanilla mechanic. It decides where snow golems can drop snow and based on the properties of the cave dimension it does not allow them to drop snow anywhere that is below 184.

just saw that there is an update. I have been playing on version 1.1.5

keepInventory is not on. when we die, our gear is stored in the gravestone.

I had no clue about the golems not making snow below y = 184. Is this a new thing? I cant find anything about that on the wiki!
other than making snow golems, what are the 8 snow balls for? everything else requires more than 2 snow blocks, and giving snow balls so far before you are able to make a glacial precipitator (which, i realize, doesnt require snow) or a fluid transposer (which now that i think about it, i realize its for cryotheum correct? X-D ) is crazy.

i will be updating immediately after finishing this post X-D so now hopefully any bugs will be fixed. I will keep you posted!

Because they have programmed purposely to do that. You're not supposed to be safe behind walls. You can try making blast resistant walls to protect yourself.

    *sighs*
    why... just why...

oh, an update on the inventory locking issue, i have also had my inventory wiped multiple times. if i pick up an item while my inventory is locked, it works, and my inventory doesn't get deleted when i fix the locked slots by unlocking a new one.

the only reason why you would give 8 snowballs is to make a snow golem, as thats the only way i can think of (other than a glacial precipitator) to get snow or ice. however, they do not produce snow on the ground, and killing the golem will result in a waste of snow usually (they drop 0-15 snowballs)

firdude, if you have time I am currently testing out this bug and cannot replicate it. I'm streaming it, twitch.tv/darkosto

    sure.
i have noticed this bug occuring when my friend joins the server, and possibly if he unlocks an inventory slot. it happens occasionally when switching game modes, but not every time. it also locks ur inventory if me or my friend die. that is all i can remember at this point. if i find something else that causes this, i will let you know.
another bug to report: snow golems do not produce snow under them

the Infinite inventory mod keeps locking all of my unlocked slots. this is usually fixed when i unlock a brand new one, but it tends to wipe my inventory

Darkosto did most of the main pack work with putting all of the mods together and setting up all of the configs. Me and Funway simply provided custom mods for the pack.

Don't forget also debugging all the crashlogs people send in

Many modpacks have teams of developers instead of single people. Look at Feed The Beast, Resonant Rise, any of the modpacks made by The Atlanticcraft, ETC. It makes the job easier. I can tell you in my (limited) experience in making a private modpack/modded server, it is not easy to do alone! (especially since Galacticraft hates everything, but i digress). its good that there are multiple people working on this pack: that means that this pack is more likely to continue to get updated, fixed, debugged, etc because the entire burden doesnt rest on any single person's shoulders. three heads are better than one?

I used the resistance trying to get my friend into the same dimension as me, however the skeletons in the water would not allow either of us near the edge of the lake (we appeared in the middle of the dark lake, far from shore.

The quacking isnt actually that annoying. we have a duck at home, so im used to the quacking.

limes: i will have to look into those. how is the decay rate? I also noticed that no matter what food you get, as soon as you recieve it or it drops, its already 20% rotten. im not sure if thats a bug or not.

yeah i noticed the text under the item name. i still find that annoying that tough silverfish are SO TOUGH. although i should have figured from the name...

i will keep you updated on bugs or other problems that we come across. keep this pack updated if possible!

i saw the recipes for the poop, however i have no need for more dirt because of the friendly dirt creeper that filled my sapling growing room. I also saw the fertilizer, but have no need at the moment because of the plentiful amount of skeletons roaming around outside. i will be trying to make a mob grinder to farm some of the drops, however because of the doom creepers out there, i will be forced to do frequent repairs until i manage to get a MFR grinder, but having never used a MFR grinder on a doom creeper, I have no idea how that will end.

I had no idea that the silverfish + drowning creeper combo was part of that mod. i thought the entire time that the stone was meant to drown you or nearly drown you! for years i have thought that!

you learn something new every day...

i tested this pack in single player, and appeared in the most safe area ever. near the ceiling, no mobs able to spawn on the ledge, etc. etc. when i did this in a server, we spawned at the bottom of the world, in a lake of water, with mobs EVERYWHERE. the difference in the spawn locations... ouch.

the difference in visiblility at the top of the dimension, and at the bottom is intense, especially when you get "pandaburr's panda mask" or whatever its called.me and my friend cant see more than 6 blocks out of our hole, and yet i could see more than 20 blocks away when at the top of the world.

A hint for newcomers for this modpack: get night vision potions ASAP. while they are relatively expensive to create early on, they increase visibility to almost normal levels

despite the difficulty with starting out, and the numerous near ragequits, i have enjoyed this pack. i would love to see this pack develop further

Me and my friend started this modpack a couple days ago. One massive problem we have noticed right off the bat is when one person goes to the cave dimension using the elevator, it disappears, forcing you to cheat in a second elevator so the second player can reach the same dimension (since inter-dimensional teleporting using commands is only possible with certain mods like galacticraft or mystcraft). We also spawned on a bedrock ceiling from the get go, so I had to load a single player world in order to find the coordinates of the spawn.

When we finally got to the dimension, we were immediately set upon by silverfish, zombies, creepers, spiders, and skeletons. we frantically dug into the wall, and sealed it off, only to have a wither skeleton hit me through the wall. (I had to teleport to my friend, because of the sheer amount of mobs and the creepers standing right next to the entrance). we finally got a base set up, and had resolved to never go outside of our hole ever again, when we were attacked by GHOST SPIDERS. After wrecking them, and getting wrecked a couple times ourselves, we burrowed further into the wall.

"Gertrud" the duck has been extremely helpful, although we have been afraid of a creeper exploding through the walls or ceiling of the base and slaughtering our beloved pet. I had to cheat in a reusable safari net because the original net was a single use net and we had to use it in order to get her to the dimension with us. Would you mind fixing the name? my OCD has been torturing me every time I look at that cute little duck (QUACK!!).

Did you know that the ghasts are evil? I did not realize the extent of their evil behavior until they started firing at our ceiling. They nearly blasted all the way through. I had to go into creative and patch up the 10 block deep hole because there was a creeper directly above our precious supply of chickens. Creepers have a nasty habit of exploding for no apparent reason at all.

Every single mob seems to hate villagers with a passion. After breaking a lucky block, a villager riding a stack of pigs appeared, only to get shot at by skeletons, and then blown up by a creeper. a tear or two was shed for that moneystealer, although the trade wasnt actually that bad.

food is a massive issue with this pack, as you will lose hunger even if you are doing the least active thing in all of minecraft: nothing. I nearly starved to death because of that stupid mechanic! X-D

me and my friend agreed to cheat in a few very lucky blocks in the beginning. even with some diamond gear, we got butchered in less than a minute. thank you NEI for magnet mode!!

why the hell do animals crap at such a rapid pace? seriously after two hours we had stacks of crap in a chest, and we ended up throwing most of it. I should have hit one of those damn drowning creepers... they deserve that.

speaking of which, WHY THE HELL DO THEY CREATE SILVERFISH BLOCKS AFTER THEY BLOW UP?!??! nothing is more infuriating than trying to get out of a hole that is blocked by the remnants of a drowning creeper, being mobbed by tough silverfish, WHICH might I add are immune to the flyswatter, while smart moving is making it impossible to get out of the water that is pouring into the hole you are in.

conclusion: This modpack easily rivals the difficulty of a modded UHC game, at least during the beginning. me and my friend do enjoy a challenge, but this pack needs some slight balancing and other tweaks.

finally, there is also a bug that I have encountered, where my inventory slots will "reset" to the initial number of slots, but any items i had in the previously unlocked slots will be trapped until I can manage to get enough levels to unlock a new slot, which usually fixes the problem (until next time).

This bug report/complaint/story of our lives (and many deaths) brought to you by Firdude

Edit: The F--KING ghasts have done it AGAIN!! they created a nice "skylight" for the base...
