    I'm curious, how would you have done it?

    I was looking through the code under the CreativeTabs class and I saw that the ItemStack class was being called for each tab object. I changed the code in my Main class to the following for each of the tabs (with different names of course):

    public static final CreativeTabs MOD_BUILDING = new ModTabs("modBuildingBlocks") {
       public ItemStack getTabIconItem() {
          return new ItemStack(ModItems.itemName);
       }
    };

    In my ModTabs class, I changed the getTabIconItem method to return null:

     @Override
       public ItemStack getTabIconItem() {
          return null;
       }
    }

    I haven't been able to test this change yet since my mod crashes due to other unrelated changes, but this looks promising since I'm not getting any errors related to this code when saving.

    Is what you would have suggested any different?

    EDIT: It works!

    Forgive me, I'm still new to programming so I'm learning how everything works. I like to be hands-on which is why I modding while learning Java. I watched a video explaining anonymous classes and I understand the concept, the tricky part for me is transferring that knowledge to be useful in this context. I'll continue reading up on those and see if I can find a solution.

    All the tabs I currently have display correctly on the 2nd page, have a unique name, and display all the correct items.

    I have a Main class with:

    public static final CreativeTabs MOD_BUILDING = new ModTabs("modBuildingBlocks");

    and a ModTabs class with:

    public class ModTabs extends CreativeTabs {

     public ModTabs(String string) {
     super(string);
     }

     @Override
     public ItemStack getTabIconItem() {
     return new ItemStack(ModItems.itemName);
     }
    }

    That code displays the same item for all the creative tabs, but I'd like to display a different item on each tab. I have been unable to find any good examples of how this is done.

    The OP has been updated with pictures of the gilded armor in-game. Let me know what you think! If the in-game textures look a little off, keep in mind this was my first time editing the actual armor models.

    It would be neat in a realism based mod, however, Minecraft isn't based around realism and such a feature would ruin a lot of cool glass-based builds for no practical reason.

    Thanks for all the feedback!

    I don't know. Make the enchantilbility less OP, and I support. If not, no thanks. We don't need to be handing upgrades of diamond armor to veterans, thank you very much.
    The current state of the suggestion only increases enchantability by 5 increasing iron to 14 and diamond to 15. This is still far from gold at a whopping 25. Feel free to vote in the poll, there is an option for people who think gilding armor should not really increase enchantability.

    Gilded Gold armor would look awesome... Gold currently has plenty of uses, and I don't think, as many people have said, that we need to make diamond armor any more OP than it is.
    Would 5 levels make it that much stronger? Honest question, I'm really not sure. I mean, it still a ways off gold's enchantability level, so its definitely not in the broken realm. Feel free to vote in the poll, there is an option for people who think gilding armor should not really increase enchantability.

    Increased enchantability for only 8 gold ingots seems pretty OP. 8 times 4 equals 32 ingots in total for a full set. Gold isn't exceptionally rare, by the time you have the diamonds for a full set of diamond armor, it's very likely you'll have enough or quite a bit gold saved up by then. In one of my new survival worlds, I have one diamond yet I have 25 gold. I have a stack of gold blocks in one of my old worlds, it's not hard to come by. No Support!
    Hmm, I always seem to have about the same amount of diamond in gold in my survival worlds. I feel 32 gold is fair for a modest increase in enchantability - it's still no where near as high as gold. But if you don't think gilding armor should increase enchantability, there's an option for that in the poll.

    On one hand the idea of adding more "realism" into Minecraft is pretty neat. However, the thought of a night lasting 8+ hours is terrifying; though I'm sure players would adjust by placing more torches and building underground.

    Because the suggested time setting is optional and defaults to false, I'd have to say I support the idea.

    Hmm... I feel that this would make diamond armor even more OP since you'll get the best enchantments. Might want to do something about that. Perhaps lower the number?

    Yeah, I just threw that in there as an idea. Lowering the number would be more balanced.

    The idea is simple. Gold is a precious metal people can use to flaunt their Minecraft wealth. However, using gold armor to do this is not practical as it has terrible durability and resistance. No one wants to waste their precious gold fighting a few hostile mobs.The solution is this - gilded armor. Gilding armor enables you to both flaunt your Minecraft wealth and to keep your iron or diamond armor for combat situations.This is how gilded armor could look:

    This is how the crafting recipe could work:

    Gilded armor does not offer better protection, but it does increase the armor piece's enchantability level by 5 - taking the level to 14 for iron and 15 for diamond. For reference, the enchantability of gold armor is 25.

    Here are some new pictures of the armor in-game:

    posted a message on More Chests! Iron, Gold, Diamond, Obsidian
    I don't think Minecraft really needs larger chests. The current ones already hold a lot of items. Higher tiers that hold even more walk the line of being either imbalanced or useless. If I wanted double the rows I'd just make another double-chest. I'm not gonna bother spending 8 iron or diamonds for that same storage when I can just use 8 wood.

    posted a message on Enchanting change ideas
    Alright, so one suggestion at a time...

    1. Ability to wash off enchantments with a water bucket.

    I actually like this idea. I've gotten terrible enchantments before and wished I could remove them.

    2. The Sharpness enchantment should add 0.5 damage instead of 1.25, Smite should add 1.0 damage instead of 2.5, and Bane should add 1.5 damage instead of 2.5.

    Any particular reason for this? I don't really see the need for such a change at the moment.

    3. Potion of resistance craftable with a golden apple.

    The potion of resistance is a good idea, I definitely support filling out the potion tree. The golden apple requirement might be a bit steep though.

    4. Poison touch enchantment that poisons target for 5 seconds.

    Works for me.

    5. Lapis for something enchantment related?

    I don't understand this one.
