posted a message on Would Horses be in my survival world?
If you've updated to 1.6 and generated terrain that contains horse armor, you should be able to find horses in your world. They are often hard to find, though. The server I play on was generated several updates ago, and after 1.6 we went on a horse-hunting journey. We probably explored at least 6 totally new plains biomes before we found one with horses. But it's also possible (although rare) for them to spawn in previously generated terrain. At least 3 of them turned up at the spawn area (plains) of our server, and none of the OPs spawned them.

adding pointless things is the problem. minecraft is turning into a mod. i want to play vanila.

Welp... Vanilla is changing, so, and I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk, people are just gonna have to deal with it. This is now vanilla, for better or worse. Either mod it if the changes make it unplayable for you, or downgrade back to what you personally consider 'vanilla', since they've given all of us that option to play ANY previous version of the game we want. I don't understand why people who hate all changes to the game and think everything new is a mod, don't just... not update? The new launcher lets you do anything you want and remain on Beta 1.2 forever if you prefer. If you don't want the game to be updated, you have no reason to complain. And on the other hand if you DO want to shoot laser bows while riding every My LIttle Pony character with your hot creeper girlfriend in a purple spaceship that flies to Mars, you have no reason to complain either, because there is probably a mod for that.

Sorry, it's just kind of completely wrong when people claim that any small change makes the vanilla game 'no longer Minecraft' or 'now it's a mod'. Thaumcraft is a mod. The Poppy is a texture update for an outdated texture and nothing more. o_o Give all the feedback you want, you're entitled to your opinion and even to let Mojang know your preference, but at least speak in a factual manner about it and don't exaggerate things out of proportion.

Here's mesa, savannah, and a village spawn seed I found:

"Hodor" spawns you on a cliff overlooking a plains valley with a nice village in it. There were horses and donkeys right at spawn and the smithy chest gave me some gold horse armor. For fun I made a high-rise apartment building out of the really tall glitched house.

Whee, it's a long way down....

I have coords for most of this stuff, if anyone is curious.

Edit because I just found this:

    Seed and coords

Spawned in a forest with a nearby Ice Plains, just flew across that biome and hit this one.

The new biomes feel too rugged, and not very livable. They don't feel realistic, and too unneeded.

Not to hate on Mojang, I just don't see a very big need for a lot of the features in 13w36a/b.

Too rugged? What should we expect, every biome is a magical green fairyland of happiness or something? I don't get this description, LOL. If it went the other way and all the new biomes were like... Candyland, Sparkly Rainbow Forest, Verdant Meadow of Pink Ponies or something, people would be complaining that the game is 'too pretty,' 'not hardcore enough'... people complain about the most random things, I swear.

And to be exact, there isn't really a need for anything new they could add, the game is functional (enough, needed bugfixes excepted of course) as is and people have played it happily up to this point. Not to mention it doesn't matter what the heck they add, someone somewhere will still ragequit over it for their own unfathomable reasons. We didn't NEED any flowers at all, much less the assortment of new plants added in this update, but I for one am extremely happy to finally be able to customize my home environs and gardens with harmonizing colors. So personally, I feel I 'needed' these new flowers, but I'm sure plenty of people either hate or could care less about them.

I don't care if they keep the original derpy pseudo-rose or not, but don't get rid of the poppy and rosebush. They look better.

If it feels 'off' or weird because the terrain is different and there is some new unfamiliar stuff, I can understand, that takes time to get used to for some. If you're talking about some vague and personal sense of 'foreboding', though... O_o Uhh, I'm not really sure what you mean.. This is only the first snapshot, I have a magical future-sense that a lot of this stuff currently bothering some people (absence of new saplings, weird snow line, etc) is going to end up tweaked in subsequent installments.

Personally I am excited, to me the terrain looks much nicer overall (it could always use improvements here or there) and I've wanted more flowers for a very long time. I don't have any really negative feelings about this update, I'm looking forward to where they are going with it. If anything, I certainly can't see the game getting worse from any of these changes.

Yeah, I like just about everything else in the update, but this is kind of bad. How can you dig for clay or look for underwater caves? Not sure why this needed to be changed. I almost always have graphics on Fast but had to change it for this reason.

posted a message on I'm not happy that roses are gone.
I can understand being unhappy with the change, but... to be honest, the roses never really looked like roses, so to me they were just 'the red flower.' If they were simply replaced in the code with the Poppy, then I'll be happy with that. But is that what happened? I didn't even realize roses were gone until I saw this thread, and the first time I saw poppies I assumed they'd just changed the rose texture. No big deal IMO, the rose texture wasn't anything amazing or special in my eyes.

posted a message on **THE SNAPSHOT IS OUT, STOP RENEWING THIS POST** (PICS)
This argument could be easily fixed if OP just moved the controversial items into a separate section for Possible Additions. It's possible Jeb will add this extreme height option but he never stated unquestionably that it will be added and seemed to have doubts, so right now it's still only a possibility. It's possible that tree is an acacia because savanna is confirmed and new trees are confirmed, but the identification of the particular tree is not confirmed.

The problem may be that this thread is kind of playing the role of 'semi-official' popular thread on 1.7 additions, so uninformed readers may take what it's saying as gospel truth (then after 1.7's release, the forums will be spammed with a million "OMG Fire Jeb he failed us by not adding the PROMISED SKYLANDS!!1111!!!1one!" whining threads.) Also, stating in giant red letters that everything mentioned is definitely a confirmed addition and 100% true, means people are going to call you out if they disagree with that.
