How does feeling uneasy = whining? My gosh.

I wouldn't say it's whining, either. However it's a pretty vague, and extremely subjective way to describe something. If I told you "Listening to Sheryl Crow makes me feel uneasy" or "the way that cloud just passed over the sun makes me think something horrible will happen at some vague time or place" you wouldn't have any actual information on WHY I felt that way or what that feeling even implies. "I feel disoriented or alienated because stuff is different than what I've been familiar with" would at least give you a point of reference for relating to that uneasiness.

    Quote from avisioncame

The problem is that while we have older members located out in the million XZ coordinates, we would still like newer potential members to enjoy the new biomes. Which is why the owner has decided when Jeb first started announcing new biomes that he wanted to start a brand new server with the same concept. once the news of "fixed" oceans was leaked out, that sort of ruined our plans.

Bolded part was the part I didn't understand. I thought you meant 'goodbye to the world currently existing on our server,' which didn't make any sense for obvious reasons. Well, when the terrain changes there is just nothing to be done about it, you either start new or live with chunk borders (or edit your world) so I can see how that is disappointing in this specific situation.

I don't know how the coding works, or if there is a possibility to generate the occasional HUGE ocean or not. Might make those random seeds more special than they have been recently when every other world felt like 80% dead ocean space.

I will tell you exactly why.

Me and my friends play exclusively on a snapshot server titled "swim". The initial spawn point is approx 2 hours in any direction until you even see the first site of land. This not only deters griefers and "noobs" but creates a tight knit community on the server - finding land is almost like an acheivement.

Guess we can say goodbye to our beloved server.

??? If you already have the ocean area you like, then just don't update until you have explored what you want. But even if you do update, the land you generated will not evaporate or turn into 1.7 terrain. I don't understand the problem here.

I've still encountered plenty of large oceans, it may not be exactly the same, but they're enough for me. I can understand that some people liked the continent feeling of the previous generation, but as the post above me says... who really enjoys just sitting and pressing 'w' for half an hour to get anywhere, with nothing to do or look at? And what's so upsetting about the ocean floor being gravel? Do other people spend hours on the bottom of the ocean? To what purpose? I never have seen a reason to do that unless I was making a shaft down to a cave exit or something like that necessitated it. If it's about finding clay, there's plenty of clay in rivers and lakes already.

I'd totally love this with the new recipe. 5 iron seems a little expensive for what's basically a decorative/specialty block, but new lighting options would be great for building.

I kind of like this idea, but it wouldn't be necessary for horses as far as I know. I've built a corral and transferred many horses back to a joint base with my partner, and there is no problem in riding or controlling one of our horses no matter which one of us tamed it initially. If we have similar looking horses with the same hearts that we want to keep as personal mounts, we have to ID them with armor/saddles or keep them always in a signed stall. Anyone can come along and ride them if they wanted to. If I'm mistaken someone can correct me, but I've never NOT been able to ride a horse on server even if I didn't tame it. This was confusing at first as I assumed they would be like cats or wolves.

(Edit: this may be only tangentially related, but I wish there were a GUI or other way to adjust the tameness of wolves so that they are friendly to players you live/adventure with. I've had to kill wolves a few times because they jumped into a zombie fight, got hit by accident and started murdering my traveling partner, >_< )

I like the decorative aspect of this idea, regardless. It could have some possible interesting uses.

Craftable zombie meat blocks would be fun, make for a great horror theme structure - and if a structure of them repulsed zombies - - -

To be honest, now that I posted that I kind of wish I knew how to mod so I could make that into a mod. Along with a nice squishy/oozing sound when you place them... ATM zombie meat is only good for dog food, unless you are REALLY hard up (like, unless you're literally gonna die of starvation it's not even worth eating because of the health drain.) But I always end up with chests full of the stuff especially when I build xp grinders.

So after reading Eva_St_Clare's comment I grabbed my map and bolted off into the distance. Far, far off the map I saw what I assume is meant to be a well in the desert. Across the river I found this bad boy and two of his goons.

Congrats on your quick find! I was so excited to find the first horses on our server, the first one I found was a good one (13 hearts, great speed and jump, and a pretty pinto gray color) and she's still special to me, :D

It still wasn't a confirmed addition to this update until the snapshot was released, sorry :/ And it was obviously never skylands. But I'm happy it ended up in the snapshot regardless of Jeb's apparent doubts, so everything turned out better than expected. Thanks, Notch!

Just ignore him. He's just one of those Nostalgics.

It's totally fine to be nostalgic, just don't expect to hold everyone else back from trying new things. I get the feeling that some people don't really want to play the actual game, Minecraft, which is a game still being developed by Mojang. They want to play their idealized version of "Minecraft" that they imagined/wished the game could be, back when they were still playing an unfinished beta version. That's okay, but everyone else imposed their own personal wishes upon the game and they are never all going to match up... these arguments that 'it's not Minecraft anymore because Notch/Jeb didn't implement that thing I wished for 3 years ago' are really pointless and tiresome. And they start up over something so simple as a tiny texture change of a flower.

I never got the complaint that zombies were tedious, in a game where half the time you're mining or digging. Beloved tedium is the name of the game.

Yeah, but at least when you mine for half an hour, you get something you can use. No one ever built a castle out of a stack of rotten flesh and a potato... :/ (At least, NOT YET! Dun dun dun... craftable zombie meat blocks, anyone?? Anyone...? Okay. :( )

If you've updated to 1.6 and generated terrain that contains horse armor, you should be able to find horses in your world. They are often hard to find, though. The server I play on was generated several updates ago, and after 1.6 we went on a horse-hunting journey. We probably explored at least 6 totally new plains biomes before we found one with horses. But it's also possible (although rare) for them to spawn in previously generated terrain. At least 3 of them turned up at the spawn area (plains) of our server, and none of the OPs spawned them.

adding pointless things is the problem. minecraft is turning into a mod. i want to play vanila.

Welp... Vanilla is changing, so, and I'm really not trying to sound like a jerk, people are just gonna have to deal with it. This is now vanilla, for better or worse. Either mod it if the changes make it unplayable for you, or downgrade back to what you personally consider 'vanilla', since they've given all of us that option to play ANY previous version of the game we want. I don't understand why people who hate all changes to the game and think everything new is a mod, don't just... not update? The new launcher lets you do anything you want and remain on Beta 1.2 forever if you prefer. If you don't want the game to be updated, you have no reason to complain. And on the other hand if you DO want to shoot laser bows while riding every My LIttle Pony character with your hot creeper girlfriend in a purple spaceship that flies to Mars, you have no reason to complain either, because there is probably a mod for that.

Sorry, it's just kind of completely wrong when people claim that any small change makes the vanilla game 'no longer Minecraft' or 'now it's a mod'. Thaumcraft is a mod. The Poppy is a texture update for an outdated texture and nothing more. o_o Give all the feedback you want, you're entitled to your opinion and even to let Mojang know your preference, but at least speak in a factual manner about it and don't exaggerate things out of proportion.

The new biomes feel too rugged, and not very livable. They don't feel realistic, and too unneeded.

Not to hate on Mojang, I just don't see a very big need for a lot of the features in 13w36a/b.

Too rugged? What should we expect, every biome is a magical green fairyland of happiness or something? I don't get this description, LOL. If it went the other way and all the new biomes were like... Candyland, Sparkly Rainbow Forest, Verdant Meadow of Pink Ponies or something, people would be complaining that the game is 'too pretty,' 'not hardcore enough'... people complain about the most random things, I swear.

And to be exact, there isn't really a need for anything new they could add, the game is functional (enough, needed bugfixes excepted of course) as is and people have played it happily up to this point. Not to mention it doesn't matter what the heck they add, someone somewhere will still ragequit over it for their own unfathomable reasons. We didn't NEED any flowers at all, much less the assortment of new plants added in this update, but I for one am extremely happy to finally be able to customize my home environs and gardens with harmonizing colors. So personally, I feel I 'needed' these new flowers, but I'm sure plenty of people either hate or could care less about them.
