This small modification improves the success rate somewhat. Unfortunately, it screwed up again just after I took these, leaving nothing there but four pistons, water and a small hole in the ground, but if it could go through at least fifteen tests without doing so beforehand, it would have to be pretty reliable (if not 100%). I noticed that it seemed to be more of a problem in the way that the Shot fell onto the ladder that how it left. Is it a directional thing, or is it just not possible for a block of TNT to fall precisely onto a block?

Just occurred to me that your 4-cannon could use a half-slab instead of a ladder. Not sure how much power it would absorb, but it would make it go straight up instead of a little to the side. Off to test again~

Nice stuff, hadn't thought of glass panes. Is there any way to hook it all up into one button, though? In any case, I'm trying that design out :wink.gif:

EDIT: Tried out the 8-TNT cannon - It didn't work for me due to some quirk with the pistons. The first time I tried, the Shot went up about 8 blocks, and the second, it didn't go anywhere. I'm afraid to say that I permanently retired it. But the 4-cannon worked fine. One thing to report though: I noticed that the Shot didn't go directly upward. It developed a bit of a list in the direction of (how do I explain this?) where the ladder was placed. So, if the ladder was placed on the left, the Shot would move upwards and a bit to the left.

Finding it kinda depressing that after only a day, it's at the bottom of the second page. :/

    So bump.

I remember a few updates ago that TNT's power was nerfed. This broke a lot of the vertical TNT cannons of the time, including those that Etho used for his subscriber specials back in the day. Those designs are still broken; however, I was thinking about it the other day and it came to me that now pistons existed, we could reposition the pieces of TNT within the cannon as needed. Thus, DomovoiCookie's Vertical TNT Cannon was born.

In the old cannons, four blocks of TNT, which comprise the Charge, were powered either side of the Shot, on it's four sides. This cannon differentiates by pushing the primed Charge into one block - essentially, all four blocks of TNT compressed into the one block directly below the Shot. This provides enough raw power to launch the Shot a long way into the air. Bear in mind that it doesn't have a 100% success rate: On a few occasions, the Shot has misfired and gone off amongst the wiring. If anyone could suggest a fix that does not affect the wiring, it would be very much appreciated. :smile.gif:

No, reeds can block water now. I think that was implemented in 1.3.

Looky what Ethan found on your seed.

Sixteen of them. I think they're east of the mountain range, across the plains and just past the mountain in the desert. :iapprove:

I'm fairly certain they burn in sunlight specifically. I base this on the fact that spiders are supposed to be neutral during the day, but if you meet a spider in a cave, it will attack you, regardless of the time of day.

Spiders go neutral if in an air block that's lit to 14 or more. So, spiders go neutral if they stand on Glowstone or a torch. Or a Jack-o-Lantern.

I usually make my wooden houses with log pillars at every corner and the roof made from sandstone and sandstone slabs. I add windows later.

For the Mac installation, is it absolutely necessary to use the Jar Tool to install? I find that the same thing can be achieved by unarchiving the minecraft.jar (with Archive Utility), adding the modded files, then compressing the decompiled folder, and changing it from .zip to .jar. I'll test it for you when you fix the graphical glitch and get back to you.

:DORE: <-- 1 Diamond, but this time you've gotta dig it. ;P

It shouldn't break the mod unless that's a standard by-product of official updates - the only update was the removal of the Locked Chest gag. :/

Anyway, I like the concept of the mod, in particular the lack of a need for ModLoader - my Mac hates ModLoader for some reason. Looking forward to a more interesting spelunking experience - can you make solid blocks out of the new ores, like iron, gold and diamond blocks? If not, that would be an awesome addition.

:DBlock: <-- See that? A diamond block. Yeah. 9 DIAMONDS, ALL AT ONCE. :iapprove:

Hi guys, got a small issue. I use Mac, and I don't have access to Terminal due to this being a school laptop. Is it at all possible to install ModLoader on my laptop, given this restriction? If so, how?

I would personally like it a lot if the existing tree types had corresponding sapling types. Pine wood is so rare :sad.gif:
