    Quote from worfer27»

I think it's important for the player to explore the end cities as well. Perhaps something more like the following:

    -6 Membranes

    -1 Shulker Shell

-Shulkers respawn EXTREMELY slowly in end cities

This would make it possible to still get an elytra practically in multiplayer, while still having a reason to visit the end city. A player will most likely also think "Hey, while I'm at the end city, I might as well raid it".

Good idea! However, I think the Shulker Shell should be replaces with a new, rarer drop from Shulkers, as using shells dosen't make much sense for lgihtweight, flexible wings.

Minecraft Servers that Aren't Hypixel: Bedwars Mode

Using fireworks as weapons has one drawback: they rarely deal any damage at all, as they slide on blocks until they explode, ignoring mobs. My solution? Make fireworks fired from crossbows explode when they hit a mob or block. For fireworks that don'5 explode, they deal damage comparable to an arrow.

The reason I think it should require more resources is for it to balance out having a ranged weapon that has theoretically infinite range with a fire rate of 2-4 shots per second, which that alone should be reevaluated.

Good point! As they stand, they already require coal (reasonalby common in the Overworld), blaze powder(easy to farm), and gunpowder (somewhat common). If another ingredient were to be added, I might favour gold, netherrack, or soul sand.

I was pondering this once, and maybe for them to be a throwable, one more ingredient needs to be added, like coal/charcoal. This way it's just a bit more resource intensive in order for you to throw them whenever you want.

Yes, but that just adds an unnecessary extra step.
    Quote from Jancrash»

It seems redundant since Flame bows exist, but I can support it regardless. It's a cheaper alternative, that's for sure. The one change I'd recommend is giving them a cooldown like Ender Pearls but shorter so somebody can't spam them and set a whole group on fire in under two seconds.

Good point; I forgot to consider that. I'm thinking 0.25 to 0.5 seconds would be s reasonable cooldown.

    Quote from liam_8788»

Those things are completed along the way to beating the ender dragon. The advancements are mostly things that you wouldn’t usually do on your way to beating the game, like riding a pig off a cliff, or having all the potion effects applied at once.

For the record, I don't want advancements a linear line from starting a world to beating the ender dragon; far from it. I think advancements should also incorporate side progressions that players can but don't have to, like finding a village or another structure, growing crops, beating the wither, working with redstone, etc. Just not frivolous ones; saddling a horse would count in my opinion, but not riding one off a cliff.

I personally think advancements should be awarded for serious progress like mining diamonds or defeating the Ender Dragon, not silly things like riding a pig off a cliff.

posted a message on Throwable Fire Charges

    The Problem

Right now, fire charges suffer from a major flaw: uselessness. All they are is an inferior, one-use-only replacement for flint and steel. Sure, they can be used to light Nether portals in an emergency, but that's rare (and anyway, you can find flint and steel in nether fortress chests). Sure, you can fire them from a dispenser, but that's only really useful for redstone and mapmaking. Fire charges need something that makes them unique, something that makes them useful. And this is where I step in.

    The Solution

The solution: Make fire charges throwable. Fire chargers should be able to be thrown, producing a projectile identical to when one is fired from a dispenser.

    Technical

    - Fire charges have a cooldown of 0.25 seconds.

    Who would benefit?

    • Combat: Now you will be able to unleash a hail of fire upon your enemies!
    • Construction: An easy way to detonate TNT or burn down a wooden house from a safe distance.

posted a message on On Phantoms and Elytra

This suggestion offers a few closely related solutions to a few closely related problems.

    The Problem(s)

    1. Phantoms serve no purpose, and are just a headache: Phantoms attack players who haven't slept for 5 days. Such players include:
      • Players who spend long periods mining/in the Nether: Unaffected, as phantoms don't spawn underground or in the Nether.
      • Players on servers: Becomes a major annoyance.
      • Players who want to repair their elytra: Not sleeping for 5 nights is too annoying an ordeal for players who just want to kill one or two phantoms.
    2. Elytra are uncraftable/rare on servers: I'm the kind of person who wants everything to be craftable. Well, obviously not things like spawn eggs or bedrock (not even bottles o' enchanting), but saddles, name tags, horse armor, and elytra. (Why? Crafting is one of Minecraft's five pillars, alongside mining, building, surviving, and exploring.) Furthermore, getting one is hard, but since they only spawn in generated structures, getting another is harder; this problem is proportionally worse on servers.

    The Solutions

    1. Make phantoms spawn in the Outer End, and remove the insomnia mechanic - Simple enough. Here's the technical:
      • Instead of spawning in the Overworld when players have not slept, they spawn in the End in all available empty unlit sufficiently large spaces except in a 1000-block-radius square centered on the origin. They spawn with three times the spawning density (maximum possible spawns per chunk per Minecraft day) that they currently do. The insomnia counter is not removed; it can still be used for mapmaking purposes.

    2. Make elytra craftable - Also simple. The recipe is attached.

I use beacons a lot in Creative, but never in Survival as the recipe is too expensive for a simple waypoint. My solution: Change the crafting recipe of beacons to use 1 diamond instead of 1 nether star, and allow them to be used as beacons without being placed on a material block base. However, instead of requiring one iron ingot/gold ingot/diamond/emerald to access the permanent buffs, a nether star is placed instead. Result: easier to use beacons as waypoints; no change for us8ng beacons as buff fields.

posted a message on Use gunpowder instead of redstone to blow up tnt
    Quote from Badprenup»

I agree that it makes logical sense that it would work. On the other hand, unless you are in some crazy bizarro world where you have easy access to hundreds upon hundreds of gunpowder but zero redstone, there is no reason I would want to use gunpowder for this. It isn't like this makes Nether-only survival easier since you can't get sand in the Nether anyways.

There is one major problem with redstone: You can't send signals a long distance without repeaters. If you do so, it's unnecessarily time-consuming to make sure you do so every 16 blocks. With gunpowder, it'd be a lot simpler: lay down a long enough fuse, light it, and watch from a safe distance. Although I do agree with FirEmerald in that string should be used; it's a lot more common than gunpowder, which you may have probably exhausted crafting TNT anyway.
