Ah my mistake, i searched from the index page than directly from the Submissions forum page. Sorry for being all angsty. Not like this idea is like new light in anycase. I just think it would be a good one and could be easy to implement. Low Hanging fruit and all that.
Here is one of the entries that I found. I guess i will go and support that thread:
What if Notch implemented a search bar! Then, you could search for things that have already been though of, and you wouldn't waste a thread or people's time.
yeah.. Good job. Now at risk of being censured here is my reply.
If you had only followed your own suggestion you would have realized that 10 minutes of searching brought up 2 posts which were made not in suggestion forum but else where and also the google site had the suggestion to which i placed my vote instead of reposting, however if it is not available in the suggestions forum, i thought it might be a good idea to place it there. Increase it's visibility and all that.
Now if you'd like, please respond with the posts you searched which make my post redundant. I'd think that would be a better way to respond than the nya nya nya method used. Possibly more people would enjoy doing the best they can to make this awesome game continue to grow.
Situation: I have tools which are near to breaking point. Tools like swords I do not want to use until the breaking point, because, i'd like you know, DIE. So I have a collection of unusable swords.
Suggestion: Is it possible to code a way to smelt tools, having it use coal to process and then either having it produce one or more of it's components or perhaps only having a chance of producing a/some component(s).
This fits into existing processes (smelting) and provides a way to deal with overstock in a realisitic manor. Otherwise it's time i installed that lava incinerator!
I know that this suggestion has been made once on a farming thread but i'd like to bring it up. Cloth should be craftable into string perhaps with another tool being a requirement to balance it out.. or make it a 1 to 1 craft transformation and have sheep drop less cloth.
Lockable chests and doors are quite useful. And having another use for gold would be great. I don't know how far the lead time is for suggestion implementation however it should be obvious what the benefits of this suggestion is for a multiplayer environment. I'm sure it may already be worked on.. consider this a confirmation of what you most likely already know.
Basic question. Should a lava flow destroy a chest and how long would it take.
Situation:
I put a lava pool on my roof.. however i got to close to the edge while a creeper was around and now my house now has a decorative lava spring:
I was able to contain it , mostly, however it's pouring directly down on one of my chests like so:
The wierd thing is.. i can still access and store/retrieve things to it.. and it's been quite a while now. I think it's cool. However is this normal? Would this be something someone would like to know about?

I've implemented both in games and Repair is much harder to implement than recycle.
And as my post brought out, recycling could should be easy to implement as it leverages work/processes already in place.
